"So tell me, how did you find this, creature?" Praetor Nereis stood in front of the two scientists and this 'creature' that they found. Her arms crossed as she expects a good story to come out of these two phase smiths. She is mildly annoyed due to the fact that while she and the templar fended off the zerg attackers, these two not only failed to call Aiur but instead opened a gateway to an unknown planet outside the Koprulu sector bringing in an unknown being. Though annoyed at having an unknown creature at their base, Nereis isn't the type of person who follows the Dae'uhl.

She found it as complete stupidity and hubris, a sentiment shared by the protoss scientists under her command and some of her templar, mostly ones with leaders.h.i.+p positions. Sure, the protoss empire is the most advanced, but their hubris would lead to downfall. If they underestimate every foe, they could end up taking longer time to eliminate or even be defeated, a point proven in several conflicts against the zerg and an unknown race that they driven away. The only reason why she has not been promoted to an executor is because the conclave generally dislike her due to her often meddling and alliances with 'lesser beings'.

In their time conquering s.p.a.ce, the protoss have often met other sentient races. To most, they would not make any contact with due to the Dae'Uhl. For those who discover them and immediately act hostile, the protoss would attack and purify their planet. This would result in the effective extinction of this race and most if not all life on the planet.

However, there are also benevolent races whom the protoss have encountered. In these cases, the protoss would generally avoid them and make borders to mark their territories. These borders mark the edges of the koprulu sector which is marked by a neutral s.p.a.ce of ten star systems wide. Following the Dae'uhl, the protoss would expand inwards to the koprulu sector.

The koprulu sector is the galaxy's largest sector, which consist of 10 billion stars and is made up of protoss s.p.a.ce, zerg s.p.a.ce and neutral or also known as uncharted s.p.a.ce. Currently, the protoss have only mapped the outer ring of zerg s.p.a.ce which is scouted and claimed when zerg forces prove hostile to scouting attempts. Back to the annoyed praetor and her two phase smiths, Arul and Zama began their tale of how this whole thing happened. With an expression that appears like the protoss equivalent of 'seriously', Nereis asked, "So, how did entering the coordinates of Aiur alter the course of the warp gate?"

Before the two phase smiths could answer, the praetor continued, "How did the two phase smiths handpicked by the executor fail to build a correct warp gate? Especially with robotic help?" Letting the two explain, the praetor said, "Go on, explain to me." The two phase smiths then showed the data logs of the warp gate. The data logs revealed no mistake, no imperfections in building the warp gate and its activation.

According to the data, the only explanation is a spatial distortion occurring at the time of activation. Seeing the data for herself, the praetor could only accept the outcome and plan for immediate colonization. Since according to the phase smiths, the spatial distortion is still active, therefore they will need to build a larger and more powerful warp gate in order for the interference to be negligible. The negligible distortion would put them around Aiur's moon and allowed contact with the moon base to send reinforcements.

As for the zerg queen who exited the six meter tall warp gate, she leaves it to the two scientists to handle. Both Arul and Zama are quite excited as new creatures would provide them with more knowledge. As scientists, knowing more and understanding more of the world and its inhabitants are their pa.s.sion. Despite being born into this caste, they are among the several with the innate interests of this caste.

The two discussed amongst themselves as they created a set of questions. The first zerg queen watched over them with interest while also managing the swarm which has doubled in terms of bases and buildings and tripled in terms of zerg units. Even a second queen is underway as the zerg swarm now numbers over 3198 in the various hive cl.u.s.ters in Vanahim VII.

The queen exited the portal as they discussed and observed a nearby probe. The queen watched it in curiosity as the probe harvests minerals and vespene gas, sending it to the golden pyramid with glowing blue lines on it. She walked towards the golden pyramid with her six spider like legs, her centaur like body moving gracefully in the rocky ground. Upon reaching the foot of the magnificent structure, the queen used her two arms and touched the pyramid, using her psionics to link with it.

She felt an attractive wave of energy being emitted from a pool within the golden pyramid structure and out of curiosity, she used her mind to explore this 'pool'. As she spread her senses into its information network, a sea of data rushed into her mind. Terrabytes of information rushed into her brain like a cascading wave of water. Her mind is filled to its limit with data from the Protoss structure as her eyes glow blue with psionic energy.

Aiur appeared in her mind, the green and blue earth like world of the protoss. Its white moon Saalok orbited it as the planet in turn orbits their star, known by the Protoss as the Golden Orb of Day. Her view was then directed to Aiur as it zoomed like a s.p.a.ces.h.i.+p approaching the world. As her view descended, she pa.s.sed through a dense wall of clouds.

These clouds become darker and thicker as she approaches the land. The echoes of thunder becoming louder and louder. The Queen was a little frightened but became more curious of this information she is receiving. As she descends through the clouds, the Queen pondered on this new experience and eagerly sought to relay it to her Overmind.

Upon pa.s.sing the dark clouds, she saw dark clouds raining down water upon a rainforest. She could feel the drops of water that fell on her carapace, cascading down as gravity pulls them towards the planet. Descending slowly, she could see a golden city at the edges of the rainforest. She curiously scanned the city from afar, using her heighten senses to perceive more buildings and details from her current position.

'Golden City, Protoss? Is this their territory?' Upon making landfall, she felt the soft, wet ground under her six arachnid legs. She is quite interested in this substance she is standing on, it feels so much like creep yet she can't feel any energy transfer from it to her. Suddenly, information entered her brain about this substance.

The Protoss call it mud. It's made of 45% minerals, 30% water, 20% air and 5% organic matter. This soft, wet substance beneath her had some rock particles within it and it amazed her. How could something so soft and wet be almost half composed of rock particles and minerals.

She had seen dirt but not mud, for creep is what she usually skates on to move around. The queen reached out to the wet soil, attempting to grab a handful of mud for her to examine. Just before she could sink her claws into the mud, a powerful force pulled her towards the city. She could feel it forcing her into the city's direction, like she's being pushed by flood waves.

The Queen resisted using her psionic abilities, reducing the rate of movement from her spot. However, the 'wave' that pushed her is increasing in strength as she resists. After a short minute of resistance, the wave washes her away towards the city. She started flying towards the city as if being thrown towards it.

The closer she gets, the more psionic signatures she felt and the more detailed the city appears. Soon, she could her voices in her head. "Psmssss.h.i.+nahie. Hes.h.i.+ejidjamkaakka." These whispers confused her as normally, only the sound of the zerg hivemind could be heard by her. They get louder and louder as they approach and even more indecipherable as each whisper and voice is like some ancient gibberish.

The floating Praelis slowly came to a halt in front of the city. She could see protoss and their golden machinery wandering around. She looked down and noticed her ghostly hands and the hard, golden ground beneath her. The Queen reached out her hand to a nearby Protoss and observed it pa.s.s through like touching air.

Also, she observed the Protoss feeling chills and reading some of her thoughts and curiosity. The Protoss man wore golden protoss armor and from his appearance and psionic energy, he seems to be a templar. After listening to those thoughts for a split second, the templar caste Protoss immediately rushed towards a nearby golden building, earning confused expressions from his nearby brethren.

Choosing to look at other things, Praelis explored the city. She observed tall golden spires, golden s.h.i.+ps with glowing blue lines flying from here to there and large blue crystals floating above holes in the ground. The Zerg Queen approached these structures and could see a bright ball of psionic energy at its center. In a curious act, the Zerg Queen touched the psionic ball and had an information transfer occur.

Information about the Protoss civilization entered her mind, from history to military capabilities. She got to know about the Khala and its importance, alongside how large protoss s.p.a.ce is and about their current war with the zerg. 'Zerg? War with our race? War with the Swarm? War with Overmind?' When information about the Zerg went in, the queen thoughts were filled with fury.

'These animals are not Zerg! They are corrupted and led by a false ruler! Death to the Zerg Overmind!' The zerg files showed her the enemies of the protoss at the borders. Their DNA matches that of the Overmind's Zerg Swarm but weaker and corrupted. Their forces are also what she would call as rip offs of her own.

With every zerg unit identified, her rage rose by a bar as her hatred burns to those who control these corrupted zerg. They should not exist and only her Overmind's Swarm are true zerg, all other zerg that opposes shall be eliminated and a.s.similated as their best deed is to provide nutrients for the Swarm's growth.

As she kept reading more files about her enemies, the poor protoss she touched had set off Aiur.

Executor Aragor is having a great day. His fleet in the Golden Armada has significantly expanded and the Protoss Empire now includes two dozen more solar systems with functional cities and bases. After overseeing expansion for the last year, he is delighted to find significant progress in expanding the empire's size even if by only 0.1%. He arrived in Aiur a few minutes after dawn where it soon rained in the province of Antioch.

He went towards the citadel of the Executors to complete his report and survey future plans to expand deeper into the Koprulu sector which would definitely result in more conflict with the hostile Zerg race. After an hour of planning, he decided to check the Protoss Channel for her sister. With no sign of her ever since she departed to oversee the development of a few new colonies a week ago, the executor felt a little worried about her. Despite knowing that her combat power makes her potentially stronger than any known Preator, can't a bigger brother worry about his sister.

When they were children, Aragor used to be her protector and knight while they trained in school. She used to study and fill her head with knowledge instead of learning to fight like templar. During the graduation ceremony, he expected her sister to enter the Scholar caste as he observed her talents in research and science. Instead, she entered the templar caste.

When he asked why, the two engaged in a duel to prove to him her strength. Nereis emerged victorious by using her modified psi blades to execute false attacks and tricks to her brother before dealing a combo of blows. By repeating her tactics, she easily struck his weak points and quickly defeated him. Her brother may be significantly stronger than her, but she is agile and observant.

She was taught to fight head on to show the protoss pride, but, she found it stupid and fought half head on. She would not hide but would plan ambush attacks while she fought and would not use her full in order to a.n.a.lyze her enemies. However, Nereis has weak psionic abilities and thus has to really on her speed and observation to take down her foes. This weakness was known by her brother in one of their sparing matches when she was newly promoted to Praetor.

This weakness made her lost since her brother used his psionic abilities to catch glimpses of her attacks and disorient her. This weakness also made him worry for her since around the colonies she is surveying, there are multiple reports of zerg attacks that wiped out most if not all protoss forces stationed. Not to mention that the reports mention that the forces here might belong to an unknown cerebrate as they show no traits of belonging to the Garm, Tiamat, Fentis, Jormugand or Surtr broods.

The only thing keeping him from searching for her is the fact that she departed towards the colony with three carriers, several tempests, dozens of arbiters and a squad of phoenix. While walking around during his break, he sensed a thought about her sister. It showed her disappointed sister with her best phase smiths next to a warp gate with a nexus as a background. He could hear them talk about their location in Kashrya and about the Zerg attacks they faced ever since they were attacked a few hours ago.

Without thinking twice, the executor immediately a.s.sembled a fleet to find her sister. He didn't even try to inspect the voice and memory he received for it is a fact that all voices in his head are definitely real as the Protoss' high psionic capabilities prevent the existence of rogue thoughts. Within a few hours, the executor ama.s.sed a force consisting of a mothers.h.i.+p, four carriers, two dozen tempests, hundreds of arbiters and twenty phoenix. Almost immediately after, the Executor entered the golden, triangular protoss mothers.h.i.+p and set off towards the planet of Kashrya out of worry for his sister.

As for Praelis, the zerg queen received and discovered more information about the Protoss from the pylon she psionically touched. While receiving the information, she stored it as temporary information to be relayed to the Overlords once she's finished exploration. She discovered her inability to transfer or speak through the hive link while exploring this place. However, she ignored it as she would leave not long afterwards.

Suddenly, she felt a tug on her body. At first, she ignored it and continued diving for information. Then, the tug turned into a strong pull and then a searing pain like being scratched and wounded. She immediately stopped searching and found herself pulled out of her information session. She turned and found an Ultralisk about to eviscerate her with its gigantic kaiser blades.

Reacting quickly, Praelis used her augmented psionic abilities to stop the Kaiser blades. A yellow aura surrounded the pair of Kaiser blades, stopping them in the spot and causing the Ultralisk to try harder. Despite trying harder, the Ultralisk did not budge the aura even by a centimeter. The special Zerg Queen then lifted both her arms and lifted all nearby objects less heavier than a car.

With great focus, the zerg queen hurled these broken protoss machinery and zerg corpses into the Ultralisk's face, causing it to be stabbed by both bones and metal. A short struggle ensued in the Ultralisk's head as it tried to shake off the shrapnel and prevent its demise. Alas, the gargantuan beast died soon after and its body dropped backwards, crus.h.i.+ng a bunch of zerg troops. Looking around, she saw templar and protoss machinery fending off corrupted zerg forces.

She observed the protoss base under attack and its inhabitants protecting the defensive structures and the nexus. She could see a few more Ultralisks fighting a squad of templar and dragoons engaging in battle, providing cover fire for its allies. The zerg queen decided to give aid and slaughtered any corrupted zerg forces as she looked for Preator Nereis. Dozens of zerg have fallen to her spines and psionic blasts before she found Praetor Nereis in combat with an Ultralisk.

She threw corpses and shrapnel at the beast and forced its retreat, allowing her to speak with Nereis. "Praetor Nereis, what is going on?" The female protoss with light golden armor slashed a roach in half before replying, "Zerg attacked, an unknown brood." Seeing the recovered Ultralisk charge, she shouted, "Look Out!
