Jin Shengping moved around a bit using his crutch and threw Lu Jia’er a look. The latter added, “Do you want to turn Ace into someone like me?”
Again, Jin Shengping looked at her calmly. “Why not?” He said slowly.
“What?” Lu Jia’er was astonished. “He is your son!”
“Yes, precisely. I want to do it just because he is my son!” Jin Shengping heaved a sigh.
Lu Jia’er did not understand what he was implying. “Mr. Jin, what are you trying to say?”
Jin Shengping gave her a look that was overflowing with meaning. “How can you have the energy to worry about others when you can hardly protect yourself?”
Lu Jia’er took a look at herself. Her hands and feet were tied to the testbed. At this moment, she should be worried about herself because she had no idea what she would be faced with next. On the other hand, Jin Xiangdong was Jin Shengping’s son after all. Whatever happened, he would be safer than her. That being said, there was still this baffling issue. Why would Jin Shengping want to transform Jin Xiangdong?
“You are right. I can hardly protect myself. However, worrying won’t get me anywhere. I was created by you. Naturally, you have thousands or tens of thousands of ways to destroy me! Tell me! What are you going to do with me? Destroy me or reboot me?” Lu Jia’er pressed him for an answer.
“What if you get to choose? Which one would you select?” Jin Shengping answered with a question.
“Is it truly possible that I would actually have a choice?” Lu Jia’er sneered.
“Why not?” Jin Shengping was still wearing that quiet smile.
“Whichever way I choose, it will be a road that leads to an end!” Those words coming from her mouth sounded sad and dreary.
“You are a bit pessimistic.” Jin Shengping commented.
“This is not pessimism, but crisis awareness.” Lu Jia’er corrected him.
Jin Shengping laughed. “Sorry. I have picked the wrong word!”
Lu Jia’er stared at his face. Sometimes, she had the sense that his calmness was appalling.
Jin Shengping was satisfied that Lu Jia’er was not anxious nor impatient and she could cope with the situation with ease. “Don’t worry. I am not ready to destroy a work as perfect as you are.”
“For you, this is only a matter of your decision. It cannot be any easier for you.” Lu Jia’er replied.
Jin Shengping laughed. “I am not that cruel!”
Lu Jia’er found this answer even more ridiculous. “If you are not that cruel, then why do you want to change Ace into an advanced AI like me?” She circled back to the matter.
Jin Shengping smiled but offered no reply to her words.
“He is your son. Wouldn’t doing that make him a guinea pig as well?” Lu Jia’er continued.
Jin Shengping cast a glance at Lu Jia’er and responded in a mild tone. “Is it a bad thing to be an advanced AI like you?”
Lu Jia’er found this idea inconceivable. She laughed grimly. “Is it a bad thing to be an advanced AI like me? Mr. Jin, you have given me a new life and superpowers, yes, but deep down, I still wish I could be a real, normal human being.”
“That means that your mind is not strong enough yet.” Jin Shengping said.
“Probably!” Lu Jia’er snorted. “But I wonder on what grounds you want to transform Ace into someone like me!”
Jin Shengping stared at the detached Lu Jia’er with his deep eyes. “Paternal love!” He said two words.
Lu Jia’er found this absurd. He wanted to make his son an advanced AI like she was because of paternal love! That must be the most absurd and terrifying reason she had ever heard!
“If that is paternal love, then it is too twisted!” Lu Jia’er criticized him.
Jin Shengping put on a smile but that smile showed helplessness and bitterness when he heard her cutting words. “Whether it is twisted or normal, all I want is to have my son alive!”
Lu Jia’er felt her mind cloud again as she tried to process his words. “What do you mean?”
