For these crops unlike normal plants survive off of mana to grow and give birth to more seeds.

Meaning unlike regular plants they don't need water but instead need to be planted in a region which is mana dense.

For these reasons, almost no survivor camps decided to make there own foods and rather decided to trade with the Merchants of another world.

For buying the much-needed food from them was much cheaper and easier than finding mana populated land. Putting the crops in and waiting for them to sprout whilst needing to guard the place of thieves. So other than a few Bigger and more powerful Survival Bases most of them didn't grow food at all.

Only having 20 bags of dirt isn't going to be enough to accomplish this feat even if they were to try to spread it out thinly meaning they will need to go back down the elevator.
