The royal hall was filled with a lot of people as today the corrupt minister's punishment would be decided.

Aariv had sat down on his seat near Kautilya, the civilians were chattering, everyone was waiting for the emperor now.

Suddenly a loud roar resounded in the hall. everyone except Aariv and Kautilya had their faces turn pale. The roar felt so real that many commoners nearly fainted in fear.

After the roar a deep drum beat came, everyone felt their hearts getting restless with every thump. The beat reached its peak and suddenly stopped, then came another loud roar.

This roar made everybody's body tremble, they thought that the world was coming to an end.

With the roar, they saw the Emperor walking in from behind the curtain. They all felt mesmerized looking at him. The sound effects made him look more domineering.

He sat down on his throne and looked at his subjects with a calm face. People started chattering about what just happened and what kind of sorcery that was.

Kautilya stood up and bowed and then faced the people.

"The session is in progress. The first case is Acharya Siras's crimes of corruption. He's been found guilty of colluding with 3 judges of court and extortion money from commoners.

He not only harmed the interests of the commoners but also harmed the integrity of the empire.

Now, his majesty, the emperor will announce his punishment," Kautilya briefed.

"Do you want to say anything?" Chandragupta asked, looking at Acharya Siras.

Acharya Siras didn't say anything, he just kept his head down. Chandragupta saw that he didn't want to say anything, so he announced the punishment.

"Acharya Siras, for your crimes you are sentenced to death by public execution," Chandragupta said with a firm voice.

Aariv shook his head, public executions were common in the current era but what he didn't like was how people were executed, it was just too gory. He knew how Acharya Siras would be executed. He'd most probably be stepped on by a trained elephant.

This method was used to make others afraid of repeating that crime. This way, public order was maintained by keeping a certain degree of fear in people's minds.

"The judges who extorted money from people will have their heads branded, their property confiscated and they will be banished." Chandragupta continued.

(Branding was a punishment often reserved for Brahmins who had committed one of four acts, such as murder of another Brahmin, incest, stealing gold, drinking wine.

1. If one had killed another Brahmin, he would receive the brand of a human trunk on his forehead.

2. Brahmin, who committed incest, would receive the brand of a female organ on his forehead.

3. Brahmin, who stole gold, would have the brand of a dog's foot on his forehead.

4. Brahmin, who had drunk wine, would bear the brand of a banner on his forehead.

After being branded, Brahmin would be made an outcast of his own country, and he would not be welcomed anywhere else due to the brand on his forehead.

Men of other castes could also be branded if they had an affair with the wife of another; after, the offender would be banished as well.)

...

Aariv had to sit in the court as leaving in the middle of a session would be disrespectful. He spent the next 4 hours sitting there, unimaginably bored.

When the court finally ended he dashed out to his room and started working on the satellite.

It was a very small satellite but a powerful one as he added that panels and processing chip made of graphene.

Making it was the easy part, but sending 36000 Kilometres into the sky was hard. He wanted to throw it but that would require tests. So, he decided to go to a hill outside the city and conduct tests by throwing 500-gram rocks.

It was still daytime so he decided to draw plans for the underground transportation system. He thought about many things. Conventional trains, Maglev and many other trains but in the end, he decided to make a hyperloop transportation system. Making the loop was easy as long as he used the technology of his time.

He needed to make a machine which was just like a tunnel boring machine of old time, but it didn't dig, it melted its way through the ground. The center part of the machine emitted a beam that had such a high temperature that it would turn rocks into vapors and the outermost part of the beam had temperature just high enough to melt the rock and turn it into a smooth surface as it cools. After that, a special liquid would be applied on the walls to make it more smoother and airtight.

Now, the main problem Aariv had was that the machine was powered by a fusion reactor and to make a fusion reactor he needs a big, big power source.

He remembered that in the future when the first fusion reactor was jump-started, it took so much electricity that many nearby electricity grids short-circuited. The start of a fusion reactor required a high powered burst of energy in a very short time.

And to get that kind of energy, he needs to either make a dam or get struck by lightning.

...

He got frustrated and put these thoughts at the back of his mind. He picked up Aslan and decided to go to the stables. He wanted to see if his dumb horse was taking his training seriously.

After walking a bit he came to the stables and saw the dumb horse wreaking havoc. He was running around and kicking stuff. Aariv tried to hear if he was saying anything and sure enough he heard.

"b.a.s.t.a.r.ds, I will not go to training today. You make me run so much, G.o.d will not forgive you" The horse was screaming.

[SMACK]

Aariv rushed to the horse and smacked him on the head, a huge b.u.mp came out.

"If he does this again then I'll castrate him, we don't need a weak horse making weak babies," Aariv said to the caretakers.

"Yes, your highness" They all replied together.

When the horse heard about the possibility of losing his treasured machine, he just stood there like a fool, he felt chills in his bones.

"Ahahaha... I was just kidding my handsome master, I love training. See." He said and started jumping weirdly.

"30 days" Aariv said and went away.

...

Aariv saw that it was turning dark so he decided to head out, but this time he wanted to take Black with him as he didn't want any misunderstandings with the guards and except in cases of emergency, it was not allowed to walk in the streets at night.

Aariv found Black and told him that he needed to do something outside the city. Black happily came along as he had also become a fan of Aariv's creations.

They both took a horse each and headed to the city gate. The streets were empty and well lit with torches, so they ran their horses at full speed. It didn't take them much and soon they saw the big city gate. It was closed and guards were standing in front of it.

Aariv was still wearing his modern clothes, but now guards knew what he looked like so they immediately recognized him when he showed them his token.

"We'll be back in a few hours," Aariv said to the new head guard and dashed off.

...

They crossed the moat and traveled a bit before reaching a nearby rocky hill. He had brought along a handheld weighing scale and weights for comparison. They reached the top of the hill from where they could see quite far in a 360-degree angle.

Aariv got off the horse and also put Aslan down from the baby carrier. Aslan was always curious about things around him so the moment Aariv released him, he started exploring. But he still made sure that he didn't go too far from Aariv.

"Your highness, why did we come here?" Black asked in confusion.

He couldn't guess what Aariv was going to do with a weighing scale in the middle of a night on a rocky hill.

"We're going to throw rocks in the sky," Aariv said nonchalantly while looking for a perfect stone.

Black's jaw dropped with the answer, but he didn't ask anything more as he thought that he was too dumb to understand his highness.

"What kind of rocks do you need, your highness?" Black asked, he wanted to help.

"It should be nearly conical in shape, 1.5 kilograms (3.3 pounds) in weight," Aariv said.

He knew he had misplanned before, if he wanted to throw a satellite into s.p.a.ce, he still needed a strong protective cover for it, so he increased the weight limit in the test.

...

They looked for stones for 20 minutes and finally found 15 perfect stones, Aariv had to ask Juno to help him make of them conical.

He had already made calculations. The satellite needed to have a thrust of more than 14.7 kilograms to send it into s.p.a.ce. But it needed a continuous thrust of that amount.

The atmosphere had many gases and other particles which would create friction and decrease its speed.

He needed to throw it with enough thrust that even after the friction it would reach the escape velocity and get to s.p.a.ce.

He was going to throw every stone with different force and note down the estimated force he used on it. He'll then wait to see if the stone falls back. If it fell, then he would see a streak of light like a shooting star and if he didn't see that, then it would mean that the object had reached the s.p.a.ce.
