Gazing lovingly at the girl's sleeping face, the boy couldn't help but gape at it.
Kang Mingyu had missed his auntie so much. He had been away from her for two weeks and to him, it was far too much. Right now, as he gazed at the girls sleeping face, he couldn't help but poke her cheek to see if he was dreaming.
Feeling the softness and heat of her skin, and the breath that tickled his cheeks, Kang Mingyu felt his heart grow within him.
He was deprived of her warmth and love for far too long.
Snuggling up to the woman, Kang Mingyu wore the hugest of smiles. He pressed himself into her shoulder as if he wanted to melt into her and no matter how close he got he felt as if it wasn't enough.
Feeling this sensation, Lu AnLing's eyes fluttered open. Looking down to see the boy's cute round face pressed up against her bare shoulder, the girl gave a lazy smile.
Lu AnLing lifted herself up, making sure to support the boy's head as she did. Feeling the room slightly spin, Lu AnLing paused a moment to breathe. The sudden vertigo made her notice that her whole body felt stiff and weak, but she ignored it. The feeling would pa.s.s.
"Hey honey," Lu AnLing said groggily before she kissed the boys head.
Kang Mingyu lifted his gaze and smiled at her. He pushed himself up to plant a kiss on the girls cheek "Good morning."
Feeling the wet sensation on her cheek, Lu AnLing gave the boy the sweetest of smiles.
Suddenly, Lu AnLing's phone buzzed. Turning to look at it, the girl's face quickly changed into one of annoyance.
It had been a week since the Starlight Event and everything had been strangely calm with the exception of her phone. Since she had sung and had her falling out with Ning Jie, Manager Hong had been texting her nonstop apologies and Lu Shuya had been bothering her about having a chat but Lu AnLing wasn't in the mood for that stuff and she believed she wouldn't be for a while.
But they weren't the only people bothering her. Lu Xia had also been wondering when they could hang out and Kang Liang, who had somehow gotten her number, kept asking when Lu AnLing was going to sign a contract with Halo Stars. Despite her telling him that she never would, the man still decided to hara.s.s her.
The only thing keeping her sane at the moment was Kang Jun and the cute little bun who laid in her arms.
"What shall we do today? We can do anything you want. But how about this time, we go outside? You think your uncle would be okay with that?" The girl's eyes sparkled.
"If I want to do something, there's no way that second uncle would refuse me." Kang Mingyu said triumphantly.
Kang Mingyu had known his place in his second uncle's heart for a while now, but he had never used it to his advantage. He had always felt bad if he asked anything of Kang Jun, mostly when considering how busy the man was. Even if he knew that the man would make time for him, he just stayed quiet but this changed. Frankly, since his auntie had come along, the boy himself had changed. He had become more outgoing and cheery. This was a joy to witness.
The boy had also become more talkative since the last time Lu AnLing been with him.
"How about we go to the aquarium? Or maybe to a bookstore?" The boy paused and pursed his lips as he thought for a second. "Actually, I think we should go shopping."
Lu AnLing tilted her head. "Why shopping?"
"Because I heard from fourth uncle that girls like to be pampered and they like buying things. So they like going shopping."
Hearing this, Lu AnLing's face twisted. "Your fourth uncle is?…"
"His name is Kang Liang but most people know him as Liang Ke."
When the boy was about to finish his sentence, Lu AnLing and he both muttered the name 'Liang Ke' at the same time.
After that, Lu AnLing gave a pout. She poked the little boy on the nose and frowned.
He wasn't wrong. Most girls did like to be pampered but it was wrong to teach the boy to just pamper girls. If he did that to his future spouse the girl might get spoiled and mistreat the boy. Already Lu AnLing could tell that he was kind so she didn't want that to happen.
"Even if that's true, remember that in any good relations.h.i.+p, two people must compromise."
Kang Mingyu: "Compromise? What's that?"
"It means that no one person should always give. Relations.h.i.+ps are something that goes both ways, so both people have to give and take at an almost equal amount. If one person only gives and the other person only takes, the relations.h.i.+p would be too unbalanced."
As he listened to Lu AnLing, Kang Mingyu squinted his eyes and raised his eyebrows.
His apparent confusion was visible on his face and it made Lu AnLing laugh.
"Compromise is like how your uncle lets you sleep here with me in exchange for you being a good boy."
The day they had come back from the Starlight Event Kang Mingyu had not wanted to leave Lu AnLing's side. As soon as Kang Jun had come to pick the boy up he had begun to throw a tantrum and so the man allowed the boy to stay, reluctantly.
Though the deal was that the boy had to listen to whatever Kang Jun ordered during the day.
Hearing the girl's explanation the boy nodded furiously.
Then there was a pause.
"I still want to go shopping though."
Hearing this, Lu AnLing shrugged. "Okay then. Shopping it is."
Truth be told, the boy had never gone shopping before. Living with the Kang's, Kang Mingyu liked being left alone.
Whenever he would go to places with big crowds, he would always have an intense want to run and so that was what he always did. This gave him a bad reputation amongst the Kang Elder's but he just couldn't help it. He was always scared. But now, with Lu AnLing by his side, he wanted to try the things he had always avoided.
He no longer wanted to run.
Staring up at her, the boy wore a sweet smile. Lu AnLing couldn't help but smile back.
"If we're going, you better go take a bath." Lu AnLing carried the boy off the bed, and then laid him down gently on his feet. "Go on."
Kang Mingyu did exactly as she said.
Lu AnLing followed him to the bathroom and put water in the tub. She was going to help him wash up when she suddenly heard a knock at the door.
Quickly, Lu AnLing wiped her wet hands on her pajama's and then went to open the door.
Opening it, she was greeted by Kang Jun's ice cold aura.
"Good morning." Lu AnLing said.
Staring at her from head to toe, Kang Jun said. "Good morning."
This time it was Lu AnLing's turn to stare. Kang Jun wore a coal-colored suit. Seeing this, Lu AnLing frowned.
"You're going to work?"
It was Sat.u.r.day. Lu AnLing knew that Kang Jun never worked on the weekends.
"Yes. There are some thing's I have to deal with."
Lu AnLing's frown worsened. "Oh…"
Seeing her expression, Kang Jun frowned himself. "Is that a problem?"
"No, of course not. It's just…"
Kang Jun: "Just?"
"Mingyu wanted to go shopping but, I guess we'll just have to do it next time. "
Hearing this, Kang Jun's frown worsened.
Kang Jun sighed.
"No. You guy's should go. If I finish early, I'll come to find you both."
He really wanted to go with them, but sadly for him, there was an emergency at Kang Corporations so he couldn't spend his day with the pair.
Despite the man being on a mission to court the girl, Kang Jun had been encountering many annoying problems within Kang Corporations. In the last month alone, three projects had been put in jeopardy, but due to his hard work, two of those three projects had been salvaged.
This time though, he wasn't sure if he could do the same.
"Here," Kang Jun said handing Lu AnLing a black card.
Seeing it, her eyes almost popped out of their sockets. It was a card that only the rich of the rich could have. Touching it, she felt like she was holding a precious object so she didn't put any strength in her grip.
"T-this is?" The girl stuttered before looking up to meet Kang Jun's eyes.
"Buy anything you need."
"No." She forced out reluctantly. She actually really wanted to take the card for a spin but it was way too precious. She could only imagine what would happen to her if it got stolen.
Lu AnLing handed the card back to Kang Jun but instead of taking it, he put his hand on top of hers. "Take it. Buy whatever you both need."
"I really can't
Kang Jun pondered a second. "Consider it a babysitting fee."
'That is some fee you're giving me, Mr. Kang…'
Lu AnLing no longer knew how to refuse the man so she didn't say a word.
"Good girl," His lips tugged up, showing her a simple smile. It was devoid of his usual cold aura. In fact, Lu AnLing began to feel her body heat up. "I'll be sending a bodyguard with you. He will take you guys wherever you want to go."
Kang Jun felt as if they were a husband and wife. So much so that he wanted to lean over and kiss her lips but he didn't.
Instead, he touched her cheek longingly.
"Have fun." The man muttered before he made his way down the hall.
Noticing the vulnerable look in his eye, Lu AnLing couldn't help but watch him as he left. A part of her wondered if he would turn back to look at her but he didn't, which made her disappointed.
When Kang Jun completely disappeared from her sight, she went back into the room and got ready.
As she changed her s.h.i.+rt, Lu AnLing suddenly heard her phone buzz again. The mere sound of it caused her to dig her nails into her palms. This was the last straw.
Lu AnLing walked to her phone and picked it up, her eyes couldn't help but run through the messages. They were all from people she didn't want to talk to.
The more she read the messages the more her face twisted in annoyance. She was fully ready to turn the phone off, but suddenly, a message caught her eye.
King Kang: [Call me when you're done shopping. Food's on me.]
King Kang: [Also, make sure to listen to the bodyguard, he'll protect you.]
Looking at the message, Lu AnLing couldn't help but laugh.
