"The chart said section L…" Lu AnLing muttered as she walked pa.s.sed a couple of people who gathered at a table in the front.

Lu AnLing didn't want to waste time searching for the table and she didn't look back to see if Liang Ke was following her either. She just wanted to get away from him and get the rest of the night over with.

Thinking about him asking her to become his personal a.s.sistant, Lu AnLing couldn't help but sneer internally, 'what a piece of trash.'

What was worse was that he had even tried to flirt with Lu Xia who was wearing a wedding ring! She couldn't help but feel her disgust for him rise. 'Are all men like this?' she questioned as she walked around the room.

Then her mind drifted to his suit and the girls face turned pitch black. She had known that coming to this event despite their status's was strange. And now, she began to wonder if he had something planned.

The thought didn't leave her mind.

Soon, Lu AnLing got lost in the sea of people. She couldn't help but gape at the ones who surrounded her. There were many that she had seen on TV but she had never imagined to see them in person.

She was literally meeting celebrities in person!

She could barely believe her eyes… but the uncomfortable feeling of being surrounded forced Lu AnLing to up her walking pace. She felt boxed up and that there was no escape. She hated this feeling so much. It was a familiar one that she'd experienced for years at the center.

But this was another part of her life that she'd rather forget.

Maneuvering around, Lu AnLing tried to be careful so she didn't fall down or b.u.mp into someone. If that happened here, she was sure that her life would be over.

At that point in time, she'd been looking around for a good ten minutes and she could have sworn that she'd walked to every corner of the room. Getting extremely annoyed and feeling her feet begin to hurt Lu AnLing was beginning to consider taking a break. Sadly for her though, another familiar voice made its way to her ear.

"You?" a woman said.

Lu AnLing looked at the woman past a small crowd of people and then cursed her fate.

w.a.n.g Tingting…

'What the f.u.c.k? What's she doing here?' Lu AnLing was getting tired of meeting people. Though, out of all the people she imagined seeing at an event of this sort, she would have never imagined seeing w.a.n.g Tingting.

When she was young her father used to tell her that whenever a good thing would happen something bad almost always followed and this was a moment that proved the man right.

Lu AnLing had found happiness in her meeting with Lu Xia and now, this...

w.a.n.g Tingting was the biggest nuisance Lu AnLing had ever encountered in her life. Despite both of them being of a lower cla.s.s compared to the others in the socialite circle they frequented, w.a.n.g Tingting had always treated Lu AnLing the worst.

The girl was never sure why but w.a.n.g Tingting had hated her before they'd even gotten the chance to get to know each other.

For a second, Lu AnLing gazed at w.a.n.g Tingting absentmindedly.

She wasn't too far away but she wasn't close either. She was sitting at a partially empty table, with her fingers playing with the olive in her martini gla.s.s. Once she'd seen Lu AnLing though, she dropped the olive stick back into the clear liquid. Lu AnLing could almost hear the 'plop' sound it made in her mind.

"Lu AnLing?!"

Seeing Lu AnLing pause at her call, w.a.n.g Tingting pushed herself up from her seat. As soon as she did that though, Lu AnLing began pretending she didn't hear the woman and scurried away.

As she was leaving, she heard the girl call to her.

"Lu AnLing stop right there!"

Lu AnLing was grateful for the noise around her. She might have not been able to pretend she didn't hear the woman calling after her if it weren't for the noise. Though if asked about it, Lu AnLing could always say she could barely hear the woman since, at the moment, her voice was being drowned out.

Lu AnLing disappeared into the crowd.

Seeing w.a.n.g Tingting push herself from her seat, a man who had been sitting beside her pulled on her arm tightly.

"Where are you going?" He asked, his eyes slightly dark.

w.a.n.g Tingting pulled her arm away from him, tears slightly forming in the corners of her eyes.

Realizing he'd used too much force, the man apologized before repeating his question. "My dear wife, please tell me where you're going?"

Innocently, w.a.n.g Tingting sat down and put her hand on her husband's shoulder. She leaned forward, allowing her chin to touch the back of her hand. Her face close to her husbands.

"Hubby, I saw a 'friend', so please let me go."

Looking at the woman in the eyes, the man saw no lie and so he allowed it.

"I'll fetch you later."

Hearing this, w.a.n.g Tingting grabbed her martini with a sinister smile.

At another end of the room, Lu AnLing finally found herself at her table. There she saw Ning Jie, Manager Hong, Lin Li and a few other people from Halo Stars.

Halo Stars had a table completely reserved for their stars.

Quickly, Lu AnLing made her way to the free seat beside Manager Hong.

"I was worried you wouldn't be able to find us." Manager Hong said with a smile.

Lin Li and Ning Jie reacted to Lu AnLing's presence and then the girls began to talk amongst themselves.

Meanwhile, the rest of the artist's glared at the group of four.

They still didn't understand how Ning Jie AND her 'help' had been able to get invited but it left a bad taste in their mouths. They were people leaps and bounds above Ning Jie in status but still, they had to sit at the same table.

Such shame!

Ning Jie was ruining the reputation of Halo Stars. At least that's what they believed. They thought of the many things Ning Jie had done to get invited and sneered, though the things that had made their way into their minds were just rumors.

Ning Jie was nothing like they imagined.

The group began to whisper insults, but despite whispering, the voices quickly made their way to Ning Jie who sat on the complete opposite end of the table.

The faces of Lu AnLing, Manager Hong, and Lin Li blackened but they didn't know what to do. These people were powerful within Halo Stars, one simple retort could bring huge consequences.

Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, Ning Jie saw a figure in white approach the table. Seeing him, her eyes brightened. Manager Hong and the two a.s.sistants clearly saw the change in Ning Jie's mood, so they followed her gaze.

At the end of it, they saw the familiar head of blond hair.

"Hey…" Ning Jie cooed. "You were invited too?"

Seeing how she so boldly flirted with him, Liang Ke laughed and then began to speak informally with the girl.

Ning Jie was the type of girl he preferred. She was nice, single and easy to deal with. Unlike Lu Xia…

As they watched them, Lu AnLing, Lin Li and Manager Hong began to frown. But then, Manager Hong and Lin Li's faces changed slightly.

Maybe it was Liang Ke who had managed to invite them?… Though thinking back they believed that to be impossible. The man couldn't possibly have such connections.

Or could he?…

This thought came from one thing only.

As they examined Liang Ke and Ning Jie side by side they could tell that their outfits matched each other. So much so, in fact, that Manager Hong began to wonder if they'd started dating already.

From the side, a couple of stars had noticed their coordinated outfits and their faces were as black as coal. They had noticed the similarities between their clothing also.

Seeing everyone's gazes, Lu AnLing became glad that she hadn't arrived at the table with Liang Ke. If that had happened, she could only imagine what would have taken place.

She shuddered at the thought.

"Of course. Who do you think I am?" Liang Ke joked.

Like he had done to Lu AnLing and Lu Xia before, the man flashed them his most attractive smile. Lu AnLing looked away and answered in his question in her head while the rest of the girls, with the exception of herself and Lin Li, laughed bashfully.

'A nuisance…'
