Watching him, Lu AnLing frowned and then she gave Kang Jun a quizzical look. "What do you mean by 'much harder'?"
Kang Jun didn't pause to think. He just spoke.
"When Kang Mingyu and Kang Mei Xue were adopted, it was my grandfather who took care of Mingyu's adoption but, as for Mei Xue, it was my grandmother. Currently, my grandmother is nowhere to be found. The only people who know where she is are my grandfather and his secretary. So, I made a deal with my grandfather."
He was worried about the girl's reaction but he had to tell her about the deal he made with his grandfather sooner rather than later. His reason being that he didn't want this to turn into a reason to fight in the future.
Kang Jun's throat was dry. "The deal was that if I could get married within a three-month timeframe, I could take Mingyu under my care. And this would, most likely, trigger my grandmother to come back. As an elder, she wont stay in hiding if there is a special event..."
Lu AnLing listened to Kang Jun until he was completely finished. When he was, Lu AnLing didn't speak.
Seeing that she wasn't answering, Kang Jun took a deep breath, trying to calm his beating heart. As his palms began to sweat, Kang Jun wanted to plead her to say something, anything, but he refrained.
In front of him, she just continued to stare at him silently as if she was looking right through him.
Then, when she opened her mouth, Kang Jun's heart skipped a beat.
Lu AnLing: "So you want to use me?"
Kang Jun frowned. He looked at Lu AnLing in the eyes with a piercing gaze.
"No. I want you."
As he said this, Kang Jun's voice shook slightly. It was as if the emotions in his heart were so pure that he had no way to hide them. They just poured out like a waterfall.
When she heard that, Lu AnLing's heart skipped a beat. Looking Kang Jun in the eyes she couldn't help but feel herself give in.
Kang Jun: "Me meeting you… or rather, your existence in my life itself has made this solution possible."
A silence swept through the two once more. After saying something so embarra.s.sing, Kang Jun was unable to speak. If Lu AnLing didn't answer, Kang Jun felt as if he would regret the words he had just uttered.
Lucky for him, she did. Though, her answer was not what he had expected.
Lu AnLing: "Okay."
Kang Jun gave her a confused expression. 'Okay what?' he looked like he was going to say, but he didn't say a word for a second.
Understanding his expression completely, Lu AnLing spoke once more.
"I will marry you."
Hearing this, Kang Jun's eyes widened slightly. It was as if he hadn't expected her to agree to his proposal. It was the third or fourth time he had asked her to marry him, and what was worse, was that she had believed that he wanted to use her.
When he had heard her ask that, he felt his heart die. But now… she'd accepted his proposal?! He was utterly confused.
"Are you sure? Do you know what this means?" Kang Jun looked at her straight in the eyes and asked reluctantly.
"Marrying you would kill two birds with one stone. We can help Kang Mingyu and we can find out what happened to my child. Together."
When Lu AnLing mentioned the word 'together' she quickly began to blush.
'Am I an idiot? Why would I get embraced by something I myself said?!' She internally screamed.
Hearing her words, Kang Jun smiled seductively.
"Let's get married then. But I have a few conditions."
Lu AnLing: " Conditions? Like a prenup?"
Lu AnLing frowned slightly. Though it wasn't like she didn't understand. Kang Jun and his family were filthy rich. They wouldn't just allow anyone to marry into the family without some set rules and conditions. What if she and he ended up getting a divorce. Due to the alimony she would receive, she'd probably get a part of Kang Corporations along with a piece of many of the subsidiaries Kang Jun was taking care of.
A prenup was necessary and even if Kang Jun didn't want one, Lu AnLing knew that his family would.
She understood… but the fact that he had mentioned it still hurt her.
Though, on the other hand, when Kang Jun heard the word 'prenup' he frowned.
"Sorry. I might have misspoken." He began.
Hearing the tone of his voice change, Lu AnLing looked at him and then c.o.c.ked her head.
Kang Jun: "When we marry, Everything that is mine, is yours and this will stay this way until death does us part. I never plan on letting you go. What I meant by conditions is that we must trust each other, and always be open with one another. I don't want to lose you or hurt you because of something unnecessarily left unsaid, but neither do I want to be hurt."
An emotion Lu AnLing didn't understand was beginning to manifest itself on Kang Jun's face. He lightly gripped the comforter beneath him, averted his eyes and then whispered,
"...Marriage..."
Lu AnLing c.o.c.ked her head even more and then she leaned forward slightly as if trying to hear what the man had said.
"What?" She asked.
"Marriage." He said once more. Only louder.
Lu AnLing's eyes were clear as she stared at his frame.
Lu AnLing: "What about it?"
Kang Jun looked up and locked his eyes with hers. There was no wall, no s.p.a.ce between the two of them.
Kang Jun: "I only want to do it once. So, once I have you, I won't let you go."
Lu AnLing began to blush.
"I-I understand." She slightly stuttered
Kang Jun was good at stirring Lu AnLing up inside. She wondered if he realized that.

Lu AnLin didn't know what time she'd gotten back to her room or how she'd fallen asleep, but the next day she woke up wrapped up in her sheets and confused about whether what had happened yesterday was a dream or reality.
But once she checked her phone and saw a message from her mother, she knew yesterday was no dream.
Mom: [Your grandmother woke up, but it's best you don't visit today. We'll make an appointment.]
Reading this, Lu AnLing frowned.
Lu Xinya was probably going to spend some time with Grandma Lu and that was why they wouldn't allow her to come.
Looking at the message, Lu AnLing contemplated whether to answer or not, but she decided to simply say, 'okay'. As long as her grandmother was awake, that was all that mattered.
After this, Lu AnLing was completely annoyed but she quickly snapped out of it. Today was a good day. She was going to get married.
Quickly, Lu AnLing showered and picked out her prettiest but non-flashy outfit and then went to the door.
When she opened it, she saw Kang Jun's handsome face. He was wearing a slim fit steel grey suit and for some reason, today, he was much more handsome than he had ever been.
Elegantly, Kang Jun stretched his hand out towards Lu AnLing.
"Let's go."
