"M-Mother!" said Gavin.
"Nice condo you had here, Gavin! The view down there is amazing!" The Queen smiled at his son, while her eyes were glued to the sparkling water of the man-made beach below.
He smiled back at her mother fondly. It's been a while since they last saw each other.
"How's Father, Abigail, and Zain?" he asked, eager to learn any news from home.
"....and also Jessy? How is Jessy doing, Mother?" he added. He was not able to visit the Facility for one whole week now due to his busy schedule.
"Everyone is doing fine. Jessy and Zain are getting to know each other."
The last sentence was like a knife that stabbed Gavin's heart. They're getting to know each other! d.a.m.n!
He closed his eyes and released a deep sigh.
"Why you are here, Mom?" he asked in a soft voice.
"I'm here to check on you. I am really pleased with the current life you are living. You are doing great for your self. Your new name as Gavin Sander is well suited to your personality. Enjoy your new life son! It's good that you are starting to forget Jessy."
"I haven't forgotten her yet, Mom," said Gavin grimly. "I will never forget her!" he said defiantly.
Margaret stared at her son with a frown on her face. She folded her arms.
"I'm here to tell you that the wedding will happen in two weeks time. I'm here not to invite you but to warn you that you shouldn't attain the wedding. I don't want you to ruin the wedding. Just in case you have plans to stop the wedding or kidnap the bride on her wedding day, I won't allow you that."
The Queen saw pain flickered on her son's face. She hated herself for hurting Adam like this, but she already did something for him, now it's Zain's turn. She had to support Zain's happiness. If only her two sons fall in love with different women, there will never be a problem. But why Adam has to fall in love with his brother's future wife? Why? The whole problem started with Adam.
"What if I do something on the wedding day, what will you do, Mom?" Gavin was trying to enter her mother's head. He has to know what she's planning so that he can make his move flawlessly without hurting anyone in the process.
Margaret eyed her son's face keenly. What he's planning? This is not good!
"It will be a beautiful wedding day for your brother and Jessy. Everything has been prepared already from the gowns to flowers and all. The whole clan is looking forward to it. It will be a joyous occasion. My son, please don't ruin it!" she begged.
Gavin has difficulty accepting the fact that the love of his life will tie the knot to another man in two weeks time. Even if he has the power to prevent the wedding, his mother won't allow it.
"I had an agreement with Jessy. I told her that she has to marry Zain and if she can't learn to love him within two years time during their marriage then they will have a divorce. All I ask from you is to give them a chance. Give your brother a chance. If Jessy still can't develop feelings for your brother then you are free to pursue her after two years. I won't object anymore," Margaret said, hoping that with her lengthy explanation, his son can understand the whole situation and would support the new couple.
Gavin knew too well that there is a big possibility Jessy might develop feelings for his brother in such close proximity with each other on a daily basis. Staying under one roof and in the same room? How could Jessy resist his brother's charm and s.e.xual advances?
Just thinking about it is very hard for him to accept. The risk is great and he would lose Jessy ultimately in the end with that kind of set up. Her mother really planned everything well in advance.
"Mother, you are forcing Jessy into a difficult situation!" he whined.
"If Jessy really loves you from the bottom of her heart, then you have nothing to worry about. Can you just see reason please, Gavin? If you didn't fall in love with Jessy, we don't have this kind of problem right now. You started it all, am just trying to correct every mistake you made. You have no idea how difficult it is for me to hide the truth that you are alive. If you can't give up Jessy then wait after two years, then it will be your turn. That is all I need from you."
Gavin sat down on the wooden chair with a somber expression on his face.
With the kind of set up her mother prepared for Jessy and Zain there is a 99% he will lose Jessy to his brother.
F*ck!
He has to try to reach deeper on her mother's inner minds working.
"I will stop the wedding! I will reveal to everyone that I'm alive," he finally said.
Margaret was appalled with her son's decision. Then anger starts flas.h.i.+ng in her entire face. "Fine. You left me with no choice. I'm going to do something to her and trust me you would not like it!"
Gavin saw the furious look in his mother's eyes. What she's planning?
"What are you planning, Mom?" he asked, his heart beating faster.
"I'm going to erased Jessy's memories of you. I'm going to erase Adam's memory in her mind. That way she and Zain will have a brand new start without your shadow constantly hovering above them!"
Gavin's face paled in shocked! Now everything is getting worst.
Where does he really stand?
Because the last ground he was standing upon was being pulled out under his feet at this very moment.
If Jessy's memory of him will be ultimately wiped out then how can their love continue to grow and have fulfillment one day?
Automatically, if he no longer exists in her mind then Jessy may fall freely for Zain's charm and persuasion.
Gavin eyed his mother serious face, he knows she was not bluffing.
"Choose wisely, son. You can't in any way reveal yourself to Jessy and admit that you are alive. All you have to do is wait for two years before you make your move. If Jessy will fall in love with Zain and they will have children. I expect that you will forever leave them in peace. If Jessy can't love and accept Zain within two years time then she is yours. Clear enough?"
He sighed. Not liking her mother's conditions. "How can I be sure that you won't erase her memory of me?"
"Just stay away from her and don't ever attend the wedding. Everything will be okay," said Margaret.
"Fine. I will obey your command, Mother," answered Gavin.
Margaret smiled at her son. "Good! Now that everything is resolved between us I can finally go home with peace of mind. Take care of yourself son, we will meet again in the near future. Bye bye, Gavin."
The Queen walked towards the living room and unfreeze Caden. Then she disappeared, right in front of Gavin's eyes.
Gavin went straight into his room, lay down in his bed and began recounting what he just discusses with her mother earlier.
There's got to be a way out...
