She looked at the west and east side. The houses were already lighted up. The people there are probably preparing for dinner or already eating.
She zoomed towards the house located on the east side. She will just go there and observed the occupants of the two houses. Maybe she can find something there that can help her investigation.
She arrived at the place and went inside the first house, she found the family of five composed of a mother and father then three children gathering in the table sharing a meal. She saw nothing suspicious in there.
So, she left the house and went to the second house more or less a hundred meters from the first house.
She entered the house, all the light was on.
She went to the kitchen and saw a lone guy about 45 years old, eating alone in the dining table. She went to the living room and went upstairs to find if other people are living in the house, she found none.
She left the house and hovered towards the two houses on the west side.
When she arrived in the first house she saw an elderly couple having dinner in the dining table near the kitchen. She inspected the house looking for more family members, she can't find any.
She departed from the house and move on to the next.
In the last house, she saw a middle-aged guy drinking some hard liquor in the veranda.
"Why are you taking too long to prepare dinner!?" he shouted at no one.
"Wait a minute, the food is ready within fifteen minutes!" A woman's voice vibrated in the air which originated from the house.
The guy went silent and Jessy smelled something delicious in the air!
d.a.m.n, she's getting hungry all of a sudden. She followed the mouth-watering aroma of cooked food inside the house and found a woman cooking in the kitchen.
The woman was cooking pork stew mixed with vegetables.
Salivating at the dishes, she reluctantly left the kitchen to find other family members around the house.
After roaming around she can't find any...therefore it's just the guy and his wife living alone in the house.
Jessy left the house and hovered above in the air.
Her stomach was grumbling...she needs to feed or else she will die of hunger.
She quickly teleported into the city and landed in the alley, since no one is around to see her, she made herself visible.
Her brisk walking brought her to her favorite chicken house in no time, she quickly entered the restaurant, went upstairs on the second floor, and chose a table far away from the rest of the diners.
She went to the cas.h.i.+er's section and made an order. She ordered one bucket of spicy fried chicken which consist of four pieces of fried chicken, rice, and soda. After getting her change, she went back to her table and waited for her order.
Five minutes later, her bucket of chicken was delivered by the waiter on her table, she wastes no time and devoured her crispy fried chicken 'till the last bite.
One hour later, her stomach was full.
She stayed inside the restaurant for several minutes, contemplating what to do next. She was planning to go back to the area and check again the four houses, the right time to go back there is between 11:00 up to 1:00 in the evening when everyone was already in deep sleep. She will freeze them on their sleep and read the minds of the adult, maybe, they can show her something no matter how slim the chance is.
Whatever clue they can give her is better than nothing, with no leads to follow, solving the ma.s.sacre case is quite challenging. She needs all the clues she can get no matter how minuscule it is.
The time is now 9:00 in the evening.
She still has two to three hours left to spare before she will get back there.
Ah, she knows what to do.
Done resting, she left her table, went downstairs and entered the restroom of the restaurant and chose a vacant cubicle, from there, she teleported into the mansion to pay Nana Aida and Grandpa Waldo a quick visit.
She landed in her dark bedroom. She found the switch and turn it on, the light instantly flooded the room.
She exited her bedroom and tiptoed into the hallway.
At the top of the stairs, she took a glimpse below and saw Nana Aida watching television alone in the living room.
Where is Grandpa Waldo?
He was probably retiring already in his room.
She comes down.
Suddenly Nana Aida turned around and saw her coming down the stairs wearing a bright smile on her face.
"Jessy! My G.o.d, it's been a long time already I haven't seen you in ages. How are Adam and your parents and everyone in the Facility?" Nana Aida bombarded her with questions.
Jessy hugged her second mother tightly. "I miss you, Nana!" she said teary-eyed.
"I miss you too! How are you and Adam?" Nana Aida continues asking her.
"Adam is fine, he was now residing in the Facility. The royal family is alright and my parents are doing fine as well. How about you and Grandpa Waldo? Where is he? How's life here?" she asked.
"Waldo was already sleeping in his room. We're doing fine here. My life is so much better now that Waldo is here with me. He is my funny companion every day. There are no dull moments with him," Nana Aida smiled.
Jessy was elated after knowing that Nana Aida and Grandpa Waldo were good friends and taking good care of each other. "I'm happy to know that the two of you are doing well, Nana," she said.
"Do you want to stay here tonight?" Nana Aida asked.
Jessy shook her head. "I'm leaving in three hours, Nana," she replied. "I will go back upstairs to my room and take a nap then leave before midnight," she said.
"Okay, you go ahead," Nana Aida said with fondness glowing in her eyes.
Jessy climbs back the stairs and went to her room.
In her room, she picked up the alb.u.m and turned the pages. The images were taking her back to the time when Adam was still ugly. She smiled at their photos of the yesteryear's, indeed, time flies too fast!
She took her phone from her sling bag and set the alarm at midnight.
Done watching the alb.u.m, she put it back in the bedside table. She went to her bed and shut her eyes to sleep.
