"How's it's going out there, daughter?" King Antone inquired.
Jessy smiled. "So far so good, Father. My mind-reading skill is handy in solving complex cases because as we all know the hardest to crack is the mind of the criminals. If I can enter the criminal's deranged mind, and scanned their memories, I can find out the previous crimes they committed and tracked their accomplices, so it's much easier solving crimes that way," she explained.
"That's fantastic, Jess!" Queen Margaret said.
King Antone gazed at Jessy with admiration in his eyes. "If you need our help, all you need to do is ask and we will a.s.sist you in any way we can. We should all work on this together for the survival of our race," he stated.
Jessy smiled. "Nah, I don't need help, Father. I can handle this matters well," she answered.
"Since you are doing well outside, we don't need to delay you any longer. You can go now to the city and perform your task for the benefits of your fellow human beings. You take care of yourself, child," Queen Margaret said and patted Jessy's shoulder affectionately.
"I'm leaving now, Father and Mother," Jessy bowed her head, she sauntered towards the door and exited the room.
After Jessy left, the royal couple stared at each other's eyes.
"Until this is all over and the government can finally grant us clemency, we can not let our guard down," King Antone sighed heavily.
"Agree, we can only hope that Jessy will succeed in her endeavor so that we can finally put an end to this never-ending hiding below the ground," Queen Margaret said in a tense but wistful tone.
The king lovingly wrapped his arms around his wife's shoulder to comfort her.
...
Jessy went to the canteen to find her mother. Thankfully, she saw her mother on their favorite spot eating breakfast.
Wearing a bright smile on her face she sauntered towards the table and lowered herself into the chair. "Good morning, Mother!"
Sarah's face brightened up. "Look, who's here...my beloved daughter! How are you doing outside?" she asked curiously. She was always gripped with worries every time she can't see her daughter. But now that she's here, she felt relieved and happy to see her only child safe and healthy.
"Mother, I'm fine, don't worry about me. I'm already a big girl and I can take care of myself," said Jessy after seeing a cloud of worry flas.h.i.+ng in her mother's eyes.
"Go, get your food now so that we can eat breakfast together," Sarah ordered.
"Okie Dokie, Mother dear!" Jessy responded in a lively voice.
She sprinted towards the food display cabinet and ordered dishes such as pancakes, potato salad, and hot coffee.
The canteen attendant put the food on the food tray.
Jessy picked up the tray and went back to the table that her mother occupied.
Sarah and Jessy resumed eating.
"Mom, where is Father?" she asked.
"As usual he's down there in the Core, digging the tunnel with his men and mining gold nuggets," replied Sarah.
"Ah, I see. I miss Father, I will go to the tunnel to check on him. Would you like to go with me?" Jessy asked.
Sarah shook her head. "Nah, you go ahead and visit him. Your father and I see each other every day. So...you should visit him alone," she remarked.
A few minutes later, they finished consuming their meals and exited the canteen going their separate ways.
Jessy went back to the Middle part of the facility and proceed down to the Core.
She found her father heading inside the tunnel with his men. "Dad!" she called him.
Hector looked behind him and saw his daughter coming towards him, his face brightened. "You go ahead, guys," he said to his companion.
Jessy finally catches up with her father. "I miss you, Dad!" she said.
"I miss you too, daughter! So...how's your duties outside? Going well or going bad?" he asked.
Jessy smiled. "Going good so far. I guessed," she answered shrugging. "Where are you going?"
"To the tunnel, we'll finally be finished digging in a few months from now and the tunnel will reach towards the mountain ahead. We can hide there for a while if worse comes to worst," he said.
"But... it's just temporary... right?" she asked.
Hector nods his head. "Yeah, a temporary shelter. If the government will still pursue us then the battle will be inevitable and there will be lots of blood spilled on the ground... both from the enemies and on our side... which the royal couple was trying hard to avoid all these times," he stated, sighing.
"Don't worry, Dad, I will try my best to impress my fellow humans with my power so that the government will finally grant us clemency," Jessy said confidently.
Hector released a deep sigh. "You are carrying a heavy responsibility on your shoulder, daughter. Don't be too hard on your self."
Jessy softens her expression for her father's benefit. "I'm perfectly alright, Dad. My work in the city is light and easy peasy. Please don't worry about me, I can handle the complex world outside," she said with a bright smile.
"That's wonderful, daughter! Just take care of yourself and don't be over too confident and don't lower your guard down when you're out there... okay?" he warned her.
"Aye, Dad. I'll remember everything you said today," she murmured.
"You want to go inside the tunnel with me?" he asked.
Jessy shook her head. "Nah. Some other time. I will leave now because I still have works to do in the city. Bye for now, Dad! Take care of Mother." She bestowed his father a quick peck on the cheek and walked away from him.
"Bye, daughter!" Hector said and his daughter disappeared from his sight.
...
Jessy landed in Oliver's living room.
"Sorry I'm late," she spoke to Oliver who is busy putting stuff in his sling bag.
Oliver raised his head and looked at her partner. "You just come in time," he responded.
"Are we going now to the house where the ma.s.sacre took place?" she asked and plopped down on the sofa.
"Later in the afternoon, our presence is needed in the Police Station. Did you remember the guy you caught the other day? He won't talk...so they need you to read his mind and scan his memory. You are the only one who can get inside his head and discover all the secrets hidden inside his mind," Oliver said.
"Okay, let's go there now," Jessy spoke.
"Alright, I'm done! Let's keep moving..." said Oliver.
Jessy sauntered towards the door followed by Oliver.
Ten minutes later they were now boarding the car going to the police station.
