George sighed. "Yeah, sort of..."
"Was it pity or love?" Elza asked again.
He breathed deeply. "I honestly, dunno anymore!" he ma.s.saged his face with his hands, feeling confused more than ever, torn between two women that he had both genuine feelings with. Just looking at Elza and being close to her bring back all their sweet memories together. It made him restless and tortured deep inside.
Elza caresses his cheeks adoringly. "Hon, I love you very much, please don't do this to me. I can accept you back. I am willing to forget that you betrayed me, let's just start all over again. Just you and me. Let's continue our wedding, please! Hon, please chose me!" there was a huge amount of pleading in her voice, she was desperate to get George back in her life. He was always been her anchor, her best friend, and her lover. She can no longer find a wonderful partner in life as wonderful as him, only him, he was the perfect guy for her. Losing him would be like plunging into the abyss of death itself.
George stared at Elza. He was gauging the seriousness of her words. "Just tell me what happened to you...we can't return to normal if you won't tell me first where have you been when you disappeared? Please enlightened me..."
Elza shakes her head in despair. "I'm sorry, I can't remember...I really can't remember, Hon! Even if you have to kill me, I can't tell you anything, my mind is blank!"
George closed his eyes for a moment.
He was looking at the closed room where Suzy and the baby were hiding, he was worried about what Suzy feels right now.
Elza followed his gazed uncomfortably. "You like her—?"
"I have to be honest with you...I do! I'm very confused right now. I can't choose between you and her," George said.
Elza winced in pain, she felt jealous that the man of her life already found somebody new, it deeply saddened and bothered her terribly.
"I will call Daphne your cousin and informed her that you already appeared after being missing for more than a year. You can sleep in her flat for the meantime," he said about to place a call to the said person.
"No!" Elza said. "Please don't call her. I don't want to sleep in her flat, I want to sleep here beside you because it's our home! We bought this condo together, it's our marital home! That woman Suzy inside that room, she has to go, she doesn't belong here!" she said in a cold hard voice, her face contorted in anger and jealousy.
George groaned, was suffering a headache all of a sudden, this is something that he did not expect to happen one day. "Elza, please don't be unreasonable! Please, try to be a little sympathetic with Suzy and her baby, she has no close relative here in the city except me and her abusive ex-husband! You can't expect her to go back to her husband!" he said.
Elza's face darkened in rage. She doesn't like it when George was defending that woman, it made her feel that he love Suzy more than her, that Suzy was more important to him than her. "I don't care where she will go! It's none of my business anymore, she is not my responsibility! This is my home! I will stay here!" she shrieked in anger.
The door of the room where Suzy and the baby were hiding suddenly opened. George and Elza looked at her.
The baby was comfortably cradled in the baby chest carrier on Suzy's front while holding in both hands two medium bags that contains all her belonging. "I'm leaving. I'm sorry I cause you guys distressed," she said with tears streaming down her face, she went to the door and left the room quietly.
When George was about to stand up to follow Suzy outside, Elza grabbed his arm. "Please don't go, don't follow her, Hon!" she said hysterically, then she starts wailing in a loud voice, crying her heart out, big fat tears rolled down her face. She knows that if George will follow Suzy he might not come back to her. She has to hold on desperately to her man and fight for her love.
George sat down on the sofa feeling wretched inside as if he disappointed and abandoned Suzy. Part of him wants to stay with Elza and another part of her wants to follow Suzy.
Jessy followed Suzy outside the room. She felt sorry for Suzy's situation because of the baby. Where are they going in this dead of the night? She was afraid that the vulnerable mother and baby will run into trouble.
Elza has George to take care of her.
But Suzy has none.
She will just tag along with Suzy and follow wherever she goes just to keep her and the baby safe.
Suzy flagged a taxi cab and placed the bags in the car's trunk, then she slid into the pa.s.senger's seat and gave the address to the driver.
Jessy hovered above the moving taxi.
She was curious where Suzy is going?
Thirty-five minutes later.
The taxi cab entered a posh subdivision, the houses were big with lavish exterior design and well-manicured lawn, it's a wealthy neighborhood.
Maybe Suzy had a distant relative or friends living here?
The taxi cab stopped in front of a 3-story gated house. Suzy paid the driver her fare.
"Good evening, Ma'am!" said the guard who opened the gate for her and closed it again behind her. Then he extended his help by reaching for the two bags.
Suzy gave the bags to the guard. "Is your Sir, here?" she asked, she was talking about her ex-husband.
"Yes Ma'am, but he's with another woman right now..." explained the guard.
"It's okay, I won't stay here for long, only for tonight," she said.
Suzy and the guard entered the house using her key.
Jessy followed them inside. So this is the ex-husband's house... he is rich! The house is grandiose looking when it comes to interior and exterior design. The type of furniture in the living room was luxurious and lavish in quality and craftsmans.h.i.+p.
So...the husband is not only abusive but also womanizer...poor Suzy!
Suzy entered one of the rooms on the ground floor and the guard put the bags at the foot of the bed.
"You want to eat something, Ma'am? I will wake up one of the housemaids to prepare your foods," the guard offered politely.
"No thanks, Carlo. I have eaten dinner already. I'm going to sleep now," Suzy said.
The guard exited the room and went back to his post in the guardhouse.
Suzy settled the baby comfortably in the bed and prepare to sleep. Then all of a sudden her mobile phone starts ringing...the caller is George!
"h.e.l.lo!" she said.
"Suzy, where are you? I'm worried about you!" George said.
"I'm back home at my ex-husband's house, just for tonight," she explained.
"I'm coming to get you, in the meantime, you can stay in my sister's house, I already told her and she agreed to accommodate you and the baby. Please get out of that house! I'm really worried that he will hurt you again!" George's voice was panicking over the phone.
"George, please don't follow me here. Now that Elza is back, you can continue marrying her, I know of your history together. I know that you still love her. Don't worry about me, I'm no longer coming back to see you. Our relations.h.i.+p is over. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories we both shared. Even for the short time that I have known you, you made me happy. Thank you for treating my son as if he was your own, it means so much to me. Don't worry, no hard feelings. I decided what's best for me and the good of everyone involved," Suzy said while wiping the fresh tears falling from her eyes.
"No, you can't do this to us! Let me see you again! Don't avoid me please!" there was much pleading in George's voice, the pain was vibrating in his voice, reaching out to Suzy's heart.
Suzy was adamant and turned off her phone not wanting to hear any more of his voice, it will only make their parting more painful and heartbreaking. After realizing that she was the outcast in the love triangle she no longer has the strength to continue loving and hoping for a wonderful married life with George now that the real owner of his heart had finally returned.
Elza was a very lucky woman to have a husband like George. When she and George were still in the dating stage, he usually tells her about stories of his missing girlfriend and how they were so in love and was about to tie the knot in a civil ceremony four days before her disappearance.
George poured his heart out to her, his desperation to find his missing lover dominates most of their conversation, she became his friend that always listened to his life's sorrow, and she also does the same to him, he always listened to her rants and whining against her s.a.d.i.s.tic and womanizing husband. They were both carrying heavy baggage on their shoulders and when their path crossed they found solace and comfort on each other's arms.
