Inside the canteen. Jessy and her mother were having breakfast.

"I'm sorry, Mom, I was not able to buy your ice cream and nachos last night," Jessy said.

"And why is that?" Sarah asked, not feeling upset at all. "Something went wrong?"

"Well, when I visit Virgie and her family in the city, I witnessed a murder about to happen..."

"Huh? What do you mean?" Sarah frowned.

"Virgie, her ex-husband, and her parents were about to be murdered last night. I happened to arrive on time so I was able to prevent the entire murder of the whole family. I have my theory of what took place in that house, it goes like this... that new woman of Virgie's ex-husband was angry that her illicit affair with another man was discovered by Peter, so she was kicked out by the house owned by Peter and when Virgie and her entire family were back in the house she got angry and become a murderous woman! She and her accomplice wants to kill the entire family and burn down the house afterward—so I brought the murderers in the ocean and—"

Jessy looked the other way, then whispered something in her mother's ears. "I killed them, I sealed their mouth and nose so that they can't breathe and they died in the sea gasping for air..."

If Sarah was shocked, her expression was blank. After a while, she stared into her daughter's eyes. "W-why didn't you let the police deal with them?"

"B-because, when a person has an intent to kill and being thwarted, there is a big chance that after they got out of prison they will keep hunting their victims, I already prevented their first try, in the second try I might not be there to prevent it so why not be done with them once and for all and completely erased them from the face of the earth? It's much easier that way..." Jessy tried to defend her action.

Sarah sighed. "You're getting used to killing, my child. Do you think killing them is the best solution? Have you not heard of the saying that says...everyone deserves a second chance?"

Jessy blinked her eyes, breathed deeply, readying herself for a long debate with her mother. "Yeah...everyone can be given a second chance but when it comes to planning and instigating a murder, the law should never be lenient with the murderers. Killing should only be allowed if it is done for self-defense and to save innocent lives, but if you kill just because you are angry and jealous then it's not acceptable at all. That woman could have walked away, start a new life and make her self better without hurting anyone, but because of her uncontrollable rage, she brought death upon herself. She was not the innocent party here, she signed her death sentence. When I delivered justice it is swift and decisive because I think it's the right decision to be made during that time based on the circ.u.mstances...I acted in impulse!"

Sarah watched her daughter's face and become quite for a long time.

Jessy raised her brows. "Are you okay—Mom?" she was a bit bothered by her silence. "Is your silence your way of telling me that I'm wrong with my decision regarding last night's incident?"

Sarah released a deep sigh. "Child, you have to understand that no parent in their right mind would be happy to know that their daughter was killing people..." when Sarah saw that her daughter's face was gone sour she soften her words... "In the name of justice, but your case is different..."

"So...you didn't condemn me for killing them last night?"

"No!" Sarah nodded her head. "But hopefully next time you will let the cops deal with them..."

Jessy shrugged her shoulders. "As usual... they will be thrown in jail and become another heavy burden on the taxpayers' pocket? No thanks!" she said defiantly.

Sarah was shaking her head. "If you keep killing people to justify your kind of justice...so what is the difference between you and the murderers?"

"Excuse me, Mom, I killed for the right reason but the murderers kill for the wrong reason, that is the big difference between them and me..." Jessy blurted straight to the point.

Well... that silenced Sarah.

Jessy understood her mother well. Her mother was just trying to prevent her from becoming a killing machine. But upon further and a.n.a.lysis with her action last night, there's nothing wrong with what she had done to the woman and her accomplice. They were determined to ma.s.sacre the entire family and burn the house along with the victims' dead bodies. Stopping them on their tracks and killing them feels so right. "I have no regrets, Mom," she finally said.

Sarah has run out of reason on what to tell her daughter. She is her own woman now. Being her mother the only thing she can do is to keep reminding her of the thin line between killing and not to kill regardless of the reason.

"Time is up, we should be going now, my child," she said.

"Okay, let's go, Mom," Jessy stood up.

Jessy wrapped her arms around her mother affectionately. The truth is, if she didn't have any supernatural power she might not be able to kill or deliver justice to anyone who needed it, she doesn't have any unique skill such as expertise in weaponry, martial arts and hand to hand combat. It's her power that is giving her a new character to become bolder, fearless and confident to face enemies. Since she was given the power then why not used it for the good cause? It would be useless to allow her power to stay dormant without using it to deliver swift justice to anyone who needed it? Besides, the policemen and other men in uniforms are not stationed in every house to watch over the citizens well being.

She wondered why the men in uniform are housed in camp and basis in huge numbers but when you walk into the streets and in the residential places the police visibility is next to zero— that is why murders, crimes, and bad people can thrive because the policemen and men in uniform are nowhere in sight.

If she will become the President of the country she will station men in uniform in residential houses, streets, commercial districts and other areas that have many people to prevent crimes from happening. What she noticed is that policemen will only appear after the crime has been committed already, but there is no prevention in place before crimes can take place.

If only crime can be prevented...

That's one thing she can't understand and the worst thing after the crime perpetrator is done with the crime and being apprehended by the police authority they will be put in jail to serve their sentence and from that moment onward taxpayers' will shoulder everything that the prisoners need especially the daily meals, free medicine, and other necessities.

That is why murderers, pedophiles, rapists, terrorist and other bad elements of the society are encouraged to continue doing bad deeds because the government is too kind and considerate to housed the criminals. What will happen after they kill someone? rape someone or bomb someone...well...they will just be put in jail with free meals, free board and lodging, and free health check-up...etcetera. Sigh, the irony of this world!

While the beggars, the street children, and the homeless people has no support or little support from the government, to think that they are the innocent ones and yet the bad ones are being kept in prison walls where daily foods and other necessities provided to them without cost by the government as part of treating the prisoners as humanely as possible.

Dang!

How about changing the current President and the government officials?

Well, that would require too much work.

Besides government officials are too lazy to implement new laws and just follow what the previous government has implemented already.

What's happening to our world nowadays?
