Enough of musing.
Time to leave the mall and find Caden.
Outside the building, Gavin hovered above the air, there were still some shoppers gathering outside the mall, though the majority had already gone home.
He picked up his phone from the pocket of his jacket and place a call to Caden.
"Where are you, bro?" he said.
"h.e.l.lo bro!" Caden replied. "I'm inside the church in front of the mall, praying fervently that G.o.d will stop the earthquake," he said in all seriousness.
Gavin looked to the north side and saw the church. "Okay, stay where you are. After you are done praying... go home to the condo, okay? I will see you there," he commanded.
"Huh? How about you? Aren't you going home now?" Caden asked.
"Nah, not yet. I will hover above the air for a little while to see if I can spot some building collapsing nearby so that I can help anyone who needed my help," he said.
"Okay. Take care of yourself bro. Come home safe and sound," Caden said.
"Bye bro!" Gavin put his phone back in the pocket of his jacket and advances to the area where he saw ambulance and rescue workers gathering in a not so far distance.
After he arrived at the scene.
It turns out that it's a 10-story hotel this time, nearly collapsing.
But this building has much more damage compared to the shopping mall he left behind.
He hovered up in the air, floating above, inspecting the surroundings of the establishment.
He circled the building, there were cracks everywhere...and a portion of the 7th floor down to the 4rth floor has been partially damaged.
The tricky part was that it's dangerous for anyone to go up from the ground floor towards the 4th floor without facing the sudden danger of the floors collapsing on their heads.
Gavin was predicting that there are many people trapped inside, some are already dead and some are severely wounded.
He looked down below.
In the ground near the entrance of the building, the rescue workers were still conducting a meeting on how to approach the building safely. The worst thing is if there's another earthquake approaching, there is a big possibility the whole building will collapse.
He hovered above near the 8th and 10th floor. He saw people shouting for help in their windows.
Gavin was shaking his head.
This going to take time, better start moving now!
Gavin went to the 4th floor first.
He noticed that each floor has ten rooms... which were called suites.
With urgency in his mind, he entered each room looking for people under the wreckage, under the bed and inside the bathroom. Then he freezes everyone, no longer caring if they are dead or alive, no time to check if they are still breathing, his mission is to bring them all down into the lower floor.
Once he gathered them all in one room, he teleported them into the 2nd floor and unfreeze them. He was thinking that the rescuer will soon reach the 2nd floor.
Done clearing the 4rth floor he went to the 5th floor...and repeat the same process.
Fifteen minutes later...
All the people he rescued in the 5th floor was also teleported into the 2nd floor.
Next is the 6th floor...then 7th floor...he was just repeating the same process at lightning speed.
Finally, he was entering the 8th floor, this time, no one is harm yet because the floors were still intact, but they were all panicking...Gavin freezes everyone alive on that floor and with urgency, he gathered them inside the room and teleported them all into the 2nd floor.
Next, he went up into the 9th floor...and the people there are getting hysterical when they saw that the rescue people below were so slow to rescue them.
Everyone was crying and panicking on the 9th floor.
Soon enough, the floor was enveloped in silence because all the people there are already frozen. Gavin sprung into action and teleported them into the 2nd floor.
Finally, the least but not least, the 10th floor.
If the people on the 9th floor are going crazy in fear, the people on the 10th floor was ready to go down...they were busy making a long rope out of blankets, bedsheets, and clothes.
Although Gavin would like to see if they can make it, it's just not worth the risk, somebody might fell and crack his head in the pavement below. He freezes them instantly. Besides, the building might collapse anytime soon, time is of the essence!
He immediately teleported them into the 2nd floor.
And there were already ten rescuers there inside the 2nd floor but they have no idea that Gavin has just dumped some people in the other room, once he unfroze the people, it took the people a few seconds to realize that they are already in the lower floor when they look down in the window their wild guess was confirmed.
They scrambled out of the room and run into the stairs heading down to the ground floor and out of the building, into safety at last! to the surprise of the rescue workers.
When the ground shook again...it must be the aftershock...or another earthquake...the rescuers in the 2nd floor run down into the ground floor and exited the entrance of the building, they all began running away from the building when the debris began falling into the pavement and soon enough the building was starting to wobble and toppled down.
Good thing everyone was already out of the danger zone.
Everyone gasped in shocked, their horrified faces confirmed the terror in their eyes, seeing the building crumbled like a pile of wood in front of them was devastating in epic proportion. To think that if they were not able to come out of the building they already have been dead by now buried by the debris and ruins of the hotel.
Some of the occupants of the hotel were crying, they left their valuables in their rooms and were not able to retrieve anything only the clothes they wore.
Gavin hovered in the air, above the remains of the hotel.
He was done here, time to go to other places and inspect the other areas of the city, wanting to extend his help to anyone who needed it.
He hovered all over the city, there are minor accidents here and there but not as huge as the one in the shopping mall and in that collapsed 10-story hotel. He was sure that humans can already take care of minor problems on their own and don't need his a.s.sistance anymore.
Time to go back to his place for a long rest.
