Queen Margaret was having a conversation with Jessy in her study room.
"When are you going to bring the first human back to her family?" the queen asked.
"Hmm...tonight midnight after the last blood transfusion...Mother," Jessy answered.
"Okay, just bring the woman here in my study room, I will be waiting for her," Margaret said.
Jessy asked, "How long it takes for the memory to be wiped out from the woman, Mother?"
"Since we are not going to wipe out her whole memory, more or less it can take more or less thirty minutes up to one hour," Queen Margaret replied. "Do you already know the place where you would take the woman?"
Jessy nods her head. "Yes, I have checked the place already, and everything is ready for her comeback...her parents and her kids will be happy to see her again."
"That's good, see you later, child," Queen Margaret smiled and rose from the chair signaling that their conversation has ended.
"I will go now, Mother," Jessy spoke and about to leave the room.
"Jess wait a minute..."
"What is it, Mother?"
"D-did my son, Adam, come here last night?"
"Yes...Mother," she nodded her head in confirmation.
Queen Margaret asked, "What did he do? Did he stay longer or just visited you?"
"We...I mean I asked him to come here so that he can coat a protective s.h.i.+eld that will protect the entire Facility and Habitat from dangers and enemies. So, he was able to finish coating the structures last night," Jessy said.
"That's amazing!" the queen's face brightened up. "So tell me, what can the s.h.i.+elds do to protect the Facility and Habitat?"
"I tested it by throwing a stone at the s.h.i.+eld and the stone bounced back, then Adam hurled fire into the s.h.i.+eld the fire died after hitting the surface," Jessy elaborated.
"Wow! Impressive! I never know that my son has that kind of power."
"But we don't know yet if the s.h.i.+eld is powerful to ward off nuclear warheads or any powerful weapons from the military, but rest a.s.sured that the s.h.i.+eld can hold off for a while if we are suddenly under attack, this will give us enough time to prepare and fight back the invaders," Jessy theorized.
Queen Margaret was more than impressed that the young woman was able to think in advance when it comes to their well being and safety. She is indeed fitting to be her daughter-in-law worthy to be the Queen in her own right because she has this great compa.s.sion for other people both vampires and humans. While staring at Jessy she was confident that the vampire race will continue to thrive for generations to come. Adam and Jessy will become the foundation of the next league of vampires that can co-exist with all living things on earth without depending on human blood for their existence.
The new breed of vampires will be human-friendly...
Jessy looked at Queen Margaret waiting for more questions from her.
Queen Margaret smiled broadly at the young lady. "You can go now, Jess, and next time please tell Adam to visit us his parents and his sister because we miss him a lot," she finally said.
Jessy nods her head. "I will tell him your message, Mother. I will go now to the Facility," she said and left the room.
...
In the clinic.
She was lying in the bed while undergoing a blood transfusion with another recipient. She was thinking of how Virgie would start her life? Being jobless and with no memory of what happened to her after more than one year of being missing. It's gonna be hard for her and her family to survive in their current difficult situation, financially matter wise.
Unless Peter would step in and finance his ex-wife and children's needs.
But Peter already had another woman.
Well...
After a while, she was wondering why she was thinking of Virgie's problem as if it's her own, maybe because being a breadwinner is pretty hard for a woman like Virgie who is a single parent of two young children and got old folks to support.
Was there anything she can do to help Virgie?
Aside from bringing back her back to her family safely, she thinks she can do more for her.
Then she remembered she still got plenty of gold nuggets left in the pouch that her father gives her. She would sell two gold nuggets and give it to Virgie so that she will have money to keep her afloat for several weeks or months while looking for work.
...
Two hours later, break time.
Jessy and her mother Sarah were eating lunch in the canteen away from the crowd.
Sarah asked, "What keeps you busy nowadays, daughter?"
Jessy stops putting foods in her mouth. "Aside from the usual blood transfusion, I'm going to return one of the humans to her family tonight after the queen is done erasing her memory," she explained.
Sarah's brows furrowed. "Huh? Why there is a need to erase one's memory? I can't understand..."
"Because they will tell everyone why they are missing and the horrific conditions they have undergone in the hands of the savage vampires will be known by the media and the military authorities will take action against us, we need to keep a low profile and not make a noise as much as possible," Jessy spoke in a low voice.
"Ah..." Sarah nods her head, she finally understood why the secrecy is needed. "But their memories will leave a big mystery to their mind on what happened during the time they were missing...It will hunt them all their lives...that solution is a bit cruel!"
From the tone of her mother, she was against the idea of erasing the rescued mortals' memory.
Jessy sighed. "Yeah, that's more like it. But it's the only way I know how to protect us, Mother. We can't afford another war with the humans now that I'm in the process of converting the vampires into mortals," she defended the solution because she was the one who suggested it to the queen. "It will save them from having nightmares of reliving, again and again, the horrible and terrifying experiences they encountered during their captivity in the hands of the savage vampires. I believe that the piece of memory that was missing in their lives is not a hindrance to continue living the lives they left off before the abduction..." her voice trailed.
Sarah breathed deeply. "Looks like everything is set already, good luck for tonight my daughter," she said.
"I'm sorry that I can't think of a better solution, Mother," she said sadly.
"No don't be sorry my child. I understand the difficulties of our situation here, so yeah, any solution is better than none," Sarah tried to wipe away the sadness on her daughter's face.
Jessy continues eating the foods on her plate.
While Sarah was watching her daughter's face with pride in her eyes.
