While Ned was going around fighting monsters that his master saw fit for him, Lori was going about her life in the usual way.

Only that she now missed Ned even if he was only gone for a few days.

Today she was at the castle, and was at the garden sitting with her grandpa, both holding books and reading in the quite while enjoying a cup of tea.

Soon a maid came and interrupted the quite atmosphere.

"Sir, someone is asking for miss Lori." The maid said, they would usually say lord and lady, but Alaster and Lori didn't like to be addressed as such.

"And who might that be?" Alaster asked calmly.

"Lady Lucy Larfel." The maid said.

The old man frowned, he knew the girl to be a talented young magician from the n.o.ble family of Larfel, but he didn't know she was acquainted with Lori.

"Grandpa it's okay, I happen to know her, as she had been part of the war. When I went to meet Ned I got to know her." Lori said as she got up and straightened her clothes and went to meet her.

Once she reached the reception room that was designed for meetings such as this, she found Lucy sitting and already sipping from a cup of tea she was given.

"h.e.l.lo Lucy, how have you been this time. I was told you want to talk to me. May I know about what?" Lori asked her.

"Thank you for asking, I'm doing good, and i wanted to talk to you about Ned." Lucy replied but she noticed the wary look Lori adopted the moment she uttered the name Ned.

"Do you have some business with my beloved?" Lori said as she wanted to state their relations.h.i.+p clearly for lucy.

"Beloved, are you too together?" Lucy asked her with a sad look.

"Yes" Lori firmly replied.

"I see. Congratulations. But I just want to meet him nonetheless." Lucy said.

By now Lori had understood her reason of coming. And she had already planned for something similar.

"Hah, do you like Ned?" She sighed at first then after a while asked her with a sharp look.

Lucy hesitated but still replied after a few seconds with an affirmative nod.

"And you still want to try your luck after knowing he and I are together? Are you saying you want him to leave me?" Lori said with a hint of anger.

While Lucy just dropped her head in shame. She liked Ned so much that she was trying everything she can.

"Well too bad Ned isn't here. But soon he will return. And if you agree to a few conditions I will allow you to meet him. "Lori said.

And Lucy just hesitated before finally replying with a yes.

"Thank you my lord." The clan head, who was similar to the demon general that was leading the invading force only much stronger and muscular, bowed to the hidden figure.

They had a personal revenge against the one who killed their prodigy. They had plans of their owns, but the human named Ray ruined everything. And now he will pay for it.

"My lord when will we use our hidden card" Another one from the clan asked.

"Soon, the time is near but not now. We will destroy them from the inside once and for all. We might not even need to use our trump card thanks to you." The hidden figure said with a voice so menacing but still contained a hint of fear at the mention of the said trump card.

And all the demons around grinned maliciously with that same hint of fear.

The hidden figure snorted at them before he got up to leave.

He was disgusted with this clan, but nothing can be done about it as they were the key to destroying the humans from the inside. As such their position was elevated in the demons society.

He now had to leave as he had to report about the meeting to his master the only one he served.

He was sure his master would be surprised. As he himself had been. They both weren't expecting the shadow clan to be so effective.
