Hero Of The World 39 Chapter 39: The Demons Plan

The demon general or now disguised as 'Trevor' was sitting at his tent, in Amelia's base, and thinking of the task he was ordered to do.

When the demons had attacked Amelia's camp for the first time, they were targeting the closest human to her, and that person turned out to be Trevor, the rogue.

The clan that the demon general had come from, were able to disguise themselves as any race they want. With the condition, of having a bit of the said race blood.

They would inject the blood of that race in their bodies, and hence would transform into the person. However they can never turn into a new face. It would always be the face of the one they took the blood from.

This clan was able to bestow their minions with such an ability, but it had a condition, and it was that the time they could stay transformed was short. Unlike a person from the clan, who can stay transformed at all times, unless injured badly.

Such was the reason for sending a demon general from this clan, who was frowned upon even among the demons.

They had need of such a disguising technique, to further their plan of invading the human kingdom.

The goal this time was to disguise as the human general that was sent this time, and infiltrate the walls protecting the kingdom, as even a rank 9 wouldn't be able to leave a scratch on them.

These walls were rumored to be built by the first blessed ever. The human hero. They weren't able to destroy these walls, as such they chose to take the kingdom internally.

They had sent four other people from this clan, in order to take over every human genius, as the humans above rank 6 were hard to kill, and so they chose to take over the next generation of the humans.

When the time comes, with their disguises, they would betray the humans, and cause chaos to create an opening for the invading force to succeed.

Since the demon general's goal was to disguise as Amelia, he devised a plan, where he will first turn into Trevor, then he would sacrifice some of his minions who he gave the ability to transform.

And then he would keep alerting Amelia of them, saying that they are demons in disguise until she has enough trust in him to let her guard down, and that would be the moment he would bare his fangs at her.

After transforming into her, he would tell his clan members that were staying in his base to come.

The demon couldn't help but laugh in a creepy way to himself.

"HEHEHEHE, I'm such a genius" the demon said to himself, proud of his scheme.

While Amelia in her tent was now holding a scroll. She had gotten Ned's message since her mages were recovering.

"This must be a trap, I can't trust anyone, not until we get out of the forest" If the message had come from Lucy she would have considered it carefully.

But since Ned was the one to send it, she was suspicious.

Her despise for him clouded her mind, and made her think that Ned was a demon in disguise.

And when she saw all that he did from the moment they met, she saw that everything fits.

He was respectful to her, which was something no warrior with a pride would do, and he was close with the other races and even included them in his unit, which again was something any warrior would frown upon.

In her mind it all made sense, and her suspicion of him was growing and growing due to her narrow minded judgment of him.

If only she knew that his respect for her came from the fact that he knew her father, and by his request he was told to help her if possible.

She chose to not reply, and was preparing for the raids that would come tonight once again. She knew that it had something to do with the demon general and she vowed to take revenge for all her fallen people.

If only she knew, that said demon general was so close to her, and her only savior was branded a demon by her.

On the other side, morning had come, Ned was sure that Amelia wouldn't come, he didn't know why but now he was sure that the uneasy feeling he had was related to her.

If he wasn't requested by her father of helping her if possible, he wouldn't have cared about such an arrogant person.

As although he would save people if possible, he wasn't a hero. And he won't feel guilty if she died as he had tried to help her and she ignored him and death is something all should be prepared for in a war.

But he couldn't leave her, he was requested by her father to look after her. And he would do so as he had gave his word to him.

As such he gathered Lucy and the rank 4.

"She wouldn't be coming. However I have a hunch that she is in danger. We would raid the demons base, after which we would look for her base." Ned said.

They both gave nods of approval, and they were all soon on their way.

In a clearing of the forest, there were many tents, with demons in them, but since the most demons were out in the forest, there was not a huge number at the base.

Surrounding this base was Ned and the other units.

They were going to bombard the tents using magic first, to cut their numbers.

Ned was going to attack with magic too.

Now stationed among the mages, he was saying the chant like the rest mages for the sake of bulls.h.i.+tting.

Once done the magic was launched at the demons at a fast speed, head among the magic was a huge eastern fire dragon released by Lucy, and Ned's own fire dragon that was much bigger than Lucy's. Something she wasn't surprised at as she already knew he was a twin path, and a stronger mage than her.

They both released it at the biggest tent in the base.

Once all the magic died down, all the surviving demons got out from their tents, and looked for their surviving people.

Ned and Lucy, saw from the biggest tent, a demon that was injured, taking out three corpses of demons, who had been burned alive.

His eyes were bloodshot, and he was looking around for the attacker. Once he was attacked he knew someone had betrayed them, and told the place of the camp to their enemies.

He saw Ned and Lucy side by side, and knew they were the ones responsible for the attack, and so he simply vanished from his place only to appear in front of Lucy who was panting a bit from the huge magic she used.

Her eyes widened slowly at the impending doom closing in on her, only to relax when Ned unsheathed his sword and met the demon's claws.

"Ahhhh you killed my brothers, I will tear you apart and feed you to the mutts" the demon said yelling at Ned while once again swinging his claws.

Ned from the first exchange, knew that this demon was a rank 5. And so he turned to Lucy and said.

"This demon is a rank 5, just leave him to me, and go join the rest" and Lucy had already guessed that he was a rank 5 and she was preparing to help him, but she did as he said and joined her people.

The demon was at first not sure that he can take them both, but he grinned maliciously once Lucy was gone. "You humans always know how to dig your own grave"

Ned changed his hands into fire element under his gauntlet, and set his sword ablaze.

He stepped to the back creating some s.p.a.ce, and stared at the demon.

The demon jumped at Ned, and this was what Ned was waiting for, to be able to control the pace of the fight. He didn't want to show his trump card so soon.

He ducked under the slash, and sent his own attack, leaving a cut on the arm of the demon, who didn't care a bit and kept attacking.

And so they traded blow for blow with the demon attacking madly and Ned dodging with ease.

From the side Lucy from time to time cast a worried look at Ned.

But Ned didn't notice as he was focused on laying a trap for the demon.

Once Ned had made enough cuts on the him, and the demon was starting to get frustrated, Ned knew that the time has come, so he changed his hands into earth element, and coted his katana with wind mana and jumped at the demon using his movement technique.

The demon was ready to block any attack coming at him, but to his dismay, suddenly several earthen spikes emerged from the ground aiming at him, he dodged the most, but one still injured his right thigh.

Once he dodged the rest he found Ned swinging his katana in front of him, and he had no time to block it.

"Swish"

And so his head was separated from his body with his eyes containing a look of shock.
