Occasionally he would see warriors or magicians, wearing their armors and robes. They carried weapons normally so he did too. He even found some hiding their faces just like him. Half an hour later they were out and he got a look at the ma.s.sive fortress built beside the even more ma.s.sive wall.
Then he turned his eyes to other people.
They were all either finding caravans to ride to reach the nearest city or just started running in it's direction.
For now he didn't want to run in when he doesn't know the map. So he went to a caravan and joined them with a fee of 5 Golden coins. Normally he guessed they would ask him to defend the caravan along with the others, but now they were beyond the wall there wouldn't be any need to.

He went to another warrior near him, and asked him.
"Hey, can you tell me how much time it will take until we reach the city, it's my first time setting out of my village" Ned asked.
"Hey there, yes sure, it would take about two days and a half. My name is Jeff, what's your name kid, you look pretty strong for a newbie warrior, did you train at a young age?" the warrior replied to him like they were friends since they were kids. He looked at Ned curiously as he saw that he had a strong build.
Ned once he heard his name was relieved as he didn't want to change his name, and from the man's name he knew that similar names at least existed. "Oh yeah sorry I forgot to introduce myself. Name's Ned, and yeah I did train with my father since a young age" he lied through his teeth in one second.
"oh. Then you probably are wandering about how the kingdom is right? The first city and the one we are going to is named Wrester, when we reach it you should hit the library and read your fill". He then stopped for a couple seconds, giving Ned time to process things.
"Second thing to do is go join a guild, to be able to take missions and earn gold for your livelihood. We warriors join the same guild when we are just beginners but once becoming experts, we join either the swordsman guild or the rogue. Myself am a rank 4 expert swordsman" he said and had face full of pride as he took a silver card with the name Jeff on it. On the back it had a sword half sheathed.
Ned said with a faked admiration tone "Wow I didn't know you are this awesome sir" he was playing the young boy coming from the rural village role after all. It wouldn't do to tell him that he can match him in strength and possibly even trash him.
"No need just call me Jeff, if you want to join the swordsman guild in the future just come look for me there." He told him with a smile. Then added "I was on a mission outside and I'm exhausted, so I'll take a nap, talk to you later" and he lied back immediately after.
Leaving Ned to his own thinking. He started making plans for when he reaches the city.
He would first search for an inn or a place to stay. Then he would do as Jeff had said and look for the library, to know the history of the Kingdom. He already had a guess that this Kingdom was built after the first person blessed by the G.o.ds separated this part of the land from the other races. He wondered if the racial discrimination still existed up until this day.
Then after reading the common knowledge he'll sit and think hard about which guild he'll choose.
Two days and a half quickly pa.s.sed, and they were going to reach the city Wrester soon.
Along the journey, Ned talked occasionally with Jeff, as the others all kept to themselves. Jeff had actually slept most of the trip, and he only woke up during meals. Ned even wondered how was he doing that. The moment the smell reaches his nose he wakes up like it's a natural thing.
Once they reached the city and pa.s.sed it's rather normal gates, Jeff once again told him to come look for him if he chose to be a swordsman and he even recommended an inn for him, to which Ned thanked him, and felt grateful that he didn't take advantage of him even when he was playing the naïve kid role.
Now strolling the city, Ned was eating at every stall he pa.s.sed, and making sure of what Jeff said about the inn being cheap and quite good. Although he knew it was wrong, he wouldn't trust him that easily, what if the inn manager was some sort of underground trafficker or something and he was going straight into the wolf's mouth.
After hearing from a couple stall owners that the inn is actually good and run by a retired kind old man who was also a rank 5 expert swordsman, he was finally relieved. And even a bit excited to meet this old man.
Following the directions that he was told, he soon reached a building that was quite refined and had a calming aura. Once he stepped past it's gate he headed into the reception area and looked around for the manager.
Soon a maid came to him and asked him with a smile, "h.e.l.lo sir, do you want to stay the night at our Inn?" the Inn was named for some reason Lori's Inn. He guessed it had a story just like how everything else does.
He replied to her "Yes, if possible I want to book a room for a week?" he used a calm tone to talk to her.
"Of course, you can stay as much as you like" and she said, as she went behind the reception desk, and brought a paper for him to fill. When he looked at it he found out that it was a weird language but for some reason he was able to speak it and even write it.
The maid, seeing him look at the paper thought that he didn't know how to write and so offered to help him "Do you want me to help you?"
"Cough, no it's fine, I was lost thinking of something else" he then started writing his name, and how many days he wanted to stay, and gave it back to her. And gave her the money needed as stated in the paper. 3,5 gold coins. He made a mental note to check the prices of beasts and other things.
And then he followed her as she led him inside into a room, and paused beside it as she pa.s.sed him the keys.
