"Huh, though it was a giant Gecko" Ca.s.s joked as we walked pa.s.sed the rusted chain link fence that surrounded the town.
Our first stop after entering town was to go to the motel and rent a room. It has been pretty much nonstop since we left the Mojave Outpost and both of us wanted to sleep in an actual bed and rest for a day or two.
It was still early morning but, Jeannie May Crawford the owner of the motel was already up and manning the front desk. Seeing her I clenched my fists to keep from pulling out my Revolver and shooting her right then and there.
As far as I was concerned she was sc.u.m, she was the person who sold Boone's wife and unborn child to the Legion.
I wanted to kill her now but, I held back because Boone deserved to be the one to do it.
"Well howdy there strangers" she smiled "what can I do you for?"
"One room please" Ca.s.s said placing her arm on the table.
"Oh-ho-ho" Jeannie laughed "sharing a room are we" and shot us a wink.
Ca.s.s turned beet red and I face palmed.
"Two rooms is fine" I spoke up "we're not that strapped for cash."
Jeannie laughed again looking at Ca.s.s's still red face "rooms are 100 caps for the first night and 50 for every one after."
"Alright, here's 200" I fished some money out and payed "we're not sure how long we're going to stay in town so is it alright if we just pay as we go?"
She shrugged "as long as you pay I don't care how you do it." She handed us our keys and went to check out our rooms.
I told Ca.s.s she can just stay in and rest today while I go into town to get some things done. She was exhausted from our month in the desert and agreed with out a second thought.
I on the other hand wasn't all that tired, even after sleeping on the cold ground I would always feel refreshed after waking up because of my powers. Besides I wanted to get out and explore!
Novac was the first real town I've seen since coming to this world. Goodsprings was basically a ghost town, Primm was overrun by criminals, and Nipton was destroyed. I figured this would be a good opportunity to learn more about this world.
In the game there were maybe twelve characters living in Novac along with a couple nameless NPC's but, from what I could tell this Novac had a population of at least a couple hundred. Which probably explained why the Legion raid camp never attacked here, it wasn't worth the price they'd have to pay.
Pa.s.sed the motel not far into town was a small bizarre. There were tents lined up along the street and people were bustling about buying and selling before it gets to hot. One thing I noticed was that me and Ca.s.s weren't the only travelers in town.

There were at least three or four small caravans pa.s.sing through. They were selling all kinds of things to the townsfolk but, it looked like they were mainly here to sell water. It made sense the towns in the middle of the desert and they needed to get their water from somewhere.
With all the trading going on I figured it was a good time to unload all of the loot I acquired in the past month or so. But, before that I took out a Salesman Weekly magazine I had to get the +10 to Barter. Raising it to 45 and hopefully getting me some better deals.
I wasn't sure how long the +10 would last since I didn't want to waste any of my magazines just to figure that out, so I got to work in the bazaar not wanting to waste any time.
One of the caravans in town ended up buying all of weapons and extra ammo I had as well as the Legion denarii I had. They ended up giving me around 1,500 Caps.
I put half of the 1,500 away as Ca.s.s's share and add the rest to my own money. It was time to see if there was anything worth buying.
And after hours of searching I could honestly say there wasn't. Aside from the couple gallons of water I bought non of the weapons and equipment sold from most of the vendors interested me.
The only things I ended up buying were the unique guns sold by Cliff Briscoe inside the giant T-rex.
They were the MF Hyperbreeder Alpha and a gun literally called 'That Gun'. The only problem was that I only had enough money to buy one of them.
The MF Hyperbreeder Alpha was one of the most unique guns in the game. It wasn't by any means the most powerful gun and didn't have any interesting effects. But, what it did have was ammo, a literal infinite amount of it. It was an energy weapon that recharges itself.
It used some crazy scifi technology to create energy from nothing. And I want nothing more than to rip it open and figure out how it works. But, at the same time I wasn't good with energy weapons so it would be dead weight.
That Gun on the other hand was a modified .223 Pistol, it was modified to fire 5.56mm ammo. The same type of ammo my Service Rifle fires. It also has a motorized cylinder and crane for quicker shooting and reloading than a regular revolver.
Not just that it also does way more damage than a regular revolver, it also as a faster firing and reloading time, plus it just looked awesome!
After weighing my options I decided on That Gun. No matter how cool the Hyperbreeder was it wasn't that useful to me at the moment. Not to mention I didn't want it to use just to take apart.
It cost me most of my money but, I bought That Gun and put it my holster. And before I left I bought one of the novelty glow in the dark rocket toys Cliff sold. I didn't need or want it but, he seemed so depressed when I didn't want one that I just bought it out of pity.
