The chubby man in the middle was really nervous now. 'd.a.m.n, why did I sent most of my guards with those three? I should have expected something like this to happen. That's just a stupid mistake! Still, who are these girls? I can see the half-elf, so the vampire should be that one with the black hair? But she looks like a child!' He eyes darted from Lyse to Erin, then to Anna. He tried to guess who they were.
The room at that moment was silent. The slave traders just lost their voices, unable to retaliate even with words after hearing the casual conversation the girls had. They really weren't strong, they were just normal people with a bit of power and money. No one was too arrogant and stupid to actually challenge the girls at that moment.
All on a sudden they heard the sound of footsteps echoing through the corridor. The guards were coming towards them. At first, it wasn't loud, but in a few moments, more and more footsteps joined, making a reverberating sound. Most of the guards weren't subordinates of the chubby man, but personal guards of the other slave traders.
From the sound of footsteps, Anna estimated that there should be around thirty guards in total. She turned to look at the door from which the guards will come through and prepared to fight against them. "S-should I use a s-spell and stop them?" Lyse asked from the side. Anna looked at Erin and waited for her decision.
Erin contemplated for a few seconds and nodded back. Lyse smiled and pointed with her hand to the door. Magic started to concentrate on it, but she didn't release it and gathered more and more magical power. Finally, the door was kicked open and a guard with a sword in hand was the first one to appear.
"Freeze!" Lyse finally released her magic. Ice started to spread in front of her, enveloping the guard, not leaving him even a chance to react. The ice continued to spread forward, making the whole corridor look like time had stopped there. Within two seconds, everything in the corridor was frozen solid. The lights in the corridor vanished, as even the candles froze. The guards were all in an awkward position, their running postures frozen, making it look like a magnificent example of artwork.
A few lucky guards who were still at the intersection of the corridor were the only ones who survived the spell. Looking at the frozen statues of their comrades, they just dropped their weapons and ran away from the scene, screaming. They weren't a match for a magician. Even all the money in the world couldn't make them return and fight.
"I-I am sorry. I think t-the spell was a bit t-too much?" Lyse looked back at Anna and Erin. Anna smiled as always and shrugged, making it clear that she didn't mind that. Erin's expression was a bit weird. Her eyes were wide open and her mouth was slightly open as she had just witnessed something shocking. She stood there like a statue, frozen on her spot.
"Master?" Anna waved a hand in front of Erin's face and she finally came to her senses, shaking her head. "I am fine, what were you asking again?"
"Ah, nothing. I was just checking if you were okay." Anna answered and glanced at Lyse, lightly nodding at her. Lyse exhaled deeply and smiled. It seemed like no one minded what she did. But that was only for the girls in her group. The slave traders, on the other hand, were stupefied and unable to move at all. The spell was too powerful. It gave them a shock.
The chubby man in the middle was now full of cold sweat. 'W-what in the world I brought to myself? That's a monster! A monster! And I wanted to catch her and make her slave? Wasn't I just dreaming?' He was swearing in his mind. That was definitely the biggest mistake in his whole life. Why did he have to provoke someone like that? The greed for money had blinded him! If he was given a chance to go back to the past and change it, he would gladly do it! Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
"Well, you have turned most of them into statues of solid ice and the others had run away. I won't be able to enjoy their blood. What a shame!" Anna sighed and looked back at the slave traders. "Though they aren't as good, they can still make a good meal," she said.
The slave traders s.h.i.+vered from those words. "P-Please spare me! I don't know why you are here and why you attacked us! I am only a guest in this place! I am innocent!" One of the slave traders finally wasn't able to stay calm. He knelt on the floor and started begging for his life.
"I am also just a guest! Spare me, I don't know anything!" With the first plea, soon the others joined. But the chubby man in the middle wasn't kneeling or begging, it was clear who the master of this mansion was.
"You sc.u.m, do you really think they will spare your lives even if you are innocent? It's already too late for all of us! What a bunch of idiots!"
Finally, he moved, kicking his colleagues one by one. He had broken down under the stress and that brought him to the edge of madness.
"Master, should we finish them?" Anna asked. Erin looked at those slave traders and was truly disgusted with them.
"Kill them." She said and stepped forward with Anna to finish them off. When they were only a few steps away from the slave traders, a chain in flames crossed their path ahead and stopped their movements.
"I knew it. They came here at the end. It's a good thing that we didn't leave the mansion with the guards and stayed close."
A voice came from the window and a short man entered through it. A few moments later, two others entered as well. They were the three men who led the guards outside.
"Hehehe, I almost lost my money, no way I'll let that happen." The tall man said, looking at the slave traders. "Now, let me enjoy our fight with you, vampire!" His gaze fully focused on Erin, his eyes bright. An aura exuded from his body and he tried to suppress Erin with it.
