12:00 a.m.
Aunt Sara left early, right after dinner ended.
She had friends she wanted to visit before the new year and had to leave in order to make her flight.
She gave me a sorry look as I sent her off.
And I tried to make up any excuse to make her stay just a little longer.
In the end, I was promised a phone call during new years, and she fled out into the flurry outside.
I slumped back into my room and plopped onto the bed. Remembering how an hour ago each relative took turns insulting her until she felt she had to run off and spend the rest of her year with a bunch of strangers.
It was a pitiful thing to call these people family.
I hated the fact that she was chased out of our house during a time like this.
But a part of me was envious of her.
She was able to leave if she wanted.
She had people who cared about her and would take her in that very night on Christmas Eve.
She had friends.
People who chose to care about her.
I was struggling to find someone to talk to.
Let alone stay with when I felt vulnerable in front of people I don't even know.
I lay in bed staring up at the ceiling, thinking about what type of people would even want to be a.s.sociated with me.
Hopefully, someone my age, someone who likes reading manhwa, snow, and London fog with too much sugar in it as I do.
I suddenly remember the message I sent. Promising to share some of my favorite things.
I remember the message vividly, I mean, I wrote it three days ago of course I do. What if he actually replied?
What would he say?
The thought lingers in my mind for a while. It lingers as I roll over and try to go to sleep.
As I did, a sharp corner jabs into my side making me jolt out of my dream state.
I open my eyes and look around my bed.
I was entwined in the blankets and had to kick myself free.
After a good struggle, I was free, and slightly out of breath.
Laying on my bed was a small box wrapped in simple brown paper.
I immediately knew who it was from.
Tearing into the paper, I found that the box housed an iPhone 6 gifted to me by my Aunt.
"Don't forget to call me on new years! xoxo - Your favorite Aunty."
I carefully took the phone out of the box and powered it on. My heart flutters at the sight of turning on. I immediately start exploring the new device.
She had already put her number into my contacts and changed the background to a picture of Mount Fiji, one she took herself on her trip.
She also left notepad on the start screen and I opened t.
"All things for an exciting life."
Was the first note made on here I tapped on it in curiosity.

I chuckle at the last part and cringe at the rest. Why did she have a thing for being so cheesy at times? Of course, she would want to see me do all those things.
Honestly speaking, I would want to see me doing those things.
But I knew that was beyond my capabilities.
Finally, getting back on track, I log in and type in three of my favorite things.
