It was quaint and tiny, but it felt safe. There were few people roaming the village. As Akila walked through, she could feel people staring. She looked at every building till she found a Pub and Inn.
Akila walked inside and saw that the only ones there sat at the counter. The pub owner was busy helping people so he didn't notice her walk in. The others at the counter turned around and saw Akila standing in front of the door. She walked up to the counter and sat down. As soon as she did that they all got up and ran out the pub. The pub owner looked puzzled. He turned around and saw Akila sitting there. He immediately left the counter and ran away. Not many people were used to seeing a demon in their pub. Akila decided to find the stairs and let herself into one of the rooms.
She chose the back room. It was large for being in a Inn. There was a Queen bed on one wall and a closet on the left wall. There was a dresser and a vanity. Akila noticed a small writing desk in the corner. She walked over and sat on the bed. She sank down into the mattress. My eyes felt heavy. I shook myself awake and stood up. Since my room was empty and there wasn't much to do, I decided to go back down to the pub.
The pub was empty, except for someone sitting in one of the booths with their cloak hood covering their face. I ignored them and went behind the bar. I searched the shelves and grabbed the biggest bottle of whiskey. I walked out from the bar and sat at the nearest table. I opened the bottle and took a swig. It tasted pretty good. I set the bottle on the table and put my hands on my face and leaned back against the back of the chair. I sighed in frustration. I took my hands off my face and took another swing of whiskey. I could see the person in the booth stand up. His hood covered his face still. He left the booth and walked over to my table. I looked at him and stared as he pulled out the chair in front of me. He sat down and looked directly at me.
"What do you want?" I said as I took another swig of whiskey.
"Where are you from?" The person asked.
"Wow, not even gonna ask what my d.a.m.n name is, rude." I said
"Fine, What's your name?" They said, frustrated.
"Name's Akila DarkBrother. What's yours"
"My name is Charles Gastro."
"So Charles, you wanted to know where I was from, right?" I said.

"Yeah."
"When I was young I was taken from my clan in the darker side of h.e.l.l. The people who took me killed them all. They then closed the portal that brought them to my home for good. I was trapped in this realm. They took me to the Kingdom of Miniro. They put in some kind of holding cell, I didn't know what it was at the time, but I soon figured out it was a kind of testing room. They experimented me and tried to find how to extract my magic from me and give it to their King. I was finally able to escape last night. Now can you take your hood off?"
The man lifted his gloved hands and removed his hood. It was like looking in a mirror. His skin was the same shade of gray as mine. His hair was blood red. His eyes were a bright red, not black like mine. I c.o.c.ked my head and was ultimately confused. How could someone look like me. the only ones who did was everyone in my clan.
"Are you from the Clan of Poutea?" I asked suspiciously.
"Yes, I was able to escape the men after you were kidnapped."
I sat there confused that someone had survived. I felt a need to take another drink of whiskey, but I stopped myself.
"How did you get here? The portal was closed."
"I was walking around one day not too long ago, and I found the men trying to attack another clan. They were being pushed back to the portal as the clansmen and women fought back. I was able to sneak through the portal right before the men ran away. I was roaming around for days until I stumbled upon this village. I guess it was the same time you got here because I could see you walking through the square and in here. I kept myself in the shadows and stole a cloak from a shop and came in here to try and confront you without you knowing my ident.i.ty."
I stood up in disbelief and walked to the stairs, "I don't believe you."
I walked up the stairs as I heard Charles move his chair. I walked back to my room and shut the door.
I sat on the floor with my back against the door. Nothing made sense to me. "If he really was a member of our clan then he would know our leader,' I thought. I sat in front of the door and waited till I heard a quiet knock on the door.
"Akila, open up. I know it's hard to believe me. If you want to know if i'm telling the truth then ask me something someone from our clan would only know." Charles said.
"Who was our leader?" I asked.
"Our leader was Encyc the Bold."
I sat straight up at the name. I stood up and faced the door. I grasped the doork.n.o.b and opened the door, "Come on in."
