Tempted By My Boss: Book Two 13 Chapter 13

"What are you doing for the rest of your life?" Valerian yelled.

"What?"

Valerian ran down the stairs and stood in front of her, "I said what are you doing for the rest of your life?"

"I am not following what you are saying..."

"Run away with me," Valerian replied.

"What?"

"I can give it up all for you Hailey."

"Give up what? "

"Come away with me."

"Where Valerian?"

"Anywhere. We can start over, with no-one else. No baggage or anything."

Hailey's eyes widened, "So soon."

"You don't have to give me an answer now but I have a condition."

"What condition?" Hailey asked cautiously.

"Let's take a walk."

"A walk now?"

"Yes, Hailey. I will tell you everything."

"Okay."

They started to walk down the street, and Hailey wondered what night would bring. Would it bring happiness or sadness she wondered?

They strolled down and she wondered if she should say something but she didn't. There walked,

"Hailey?"

"Yes."

"Hear me out on everything first."

"Okay."

"I want to fight for you with all I have, so I need you to give me six months. If all fails then we don't have to see each other again and I won't bother you anymore. I want to go on a certain number of dates and after that time you can give me your final decision."

Hailey sighed, "I...."

"You don't have to tell me your answer right now but you can decide on it later. "

"Okay, that would be great."

They walked back in silence but it wasn't an awkward silence and Hailey wondered if she could really give Valerian what he wanted.

When they got back, Hailey found her driver there. She got in the car,

"I will be waiting for your answer Hailey."

"Okay."

Hailey got home and made some food, after eating she went to bed and started to rehash what Valerian had said to her earlier on about the condition he had.

Could she really do it? What of Alex her mind wandered. When she woke up the next morning she had barely gotten any sleep and was feeling very tired. She got dressed and went to work.

Hailey put her hands on her head, "What should I do. Is it a yes or a no."

"What is a yes or a no?"

Hailey started and she looked up to find Alex standing in there, "I didn't hear you come in."

"I know, what are you thinking so hard about?"

Hailey looked at his face. Could she lie to him or should she just come clean about everything?

"I'm conflicted!"

"What are you conflicted about?" Alex replied whilst taking a seat across her.

"I am trying but I don't know."

"What's going on Hailey?"

"Valerian."

"What about him? Is he bothering you?"

"No, it's, it's..."

"Is that why you are conflicted?"

"Yes, well it's part of it Alex. I'm so sorry."

"Why are you sorry."

"It's just that he wants me to give him a chance and I am trying to put it behind me but I can't."

Alex rubbed his face, and Hailey could see that he was hurt. He got up abruptly and Hailey looked at him, "I need time to think about all this Hailey." With that, he left.

Hailey closed her eyes in frustration, what was she doing? Was she doing the right thing?

She carried on with her work but now she felt double the stress of hurting either one of them.

Hailey looked when she saw Alex had burst into her office and his tie was undone and she could tell that he had run through his hair many times."Are you okay?"

"I am, no, no I'm not." Alex replied, "I can't afford to lose you, Hailey."

"Alex I don't want to hurt you."

"I know Hailey, but I want you to give me the same condition as you did to Valerian."
