Chapter 164 The Wind Rose, All Parties Took Actions
The majestic city gate was opened slowly. Jun Wuhen witnessed the delegation army marched into the distance and disappeared. There was a sneer at the corners of his mouth.
Yeyan, it’s my last time sending you away. Let’s never meet again. Jun Wuhen thought about it and seemed to see the scene of Jun Yeyan’s death.
After watching Bai Aoxue and Jun Yeyan leave far away, the ma.s.s followed Jun Wuhen to leave.
The ma.s.s was sure that the Fifth Prince they saw today was totally different from the one before.
They saw the dignity and pride of an emperor in the Fifth Prince and they all wors.h.i.+ped him whole-heartedly.
Jun Wuhen never gave the ma.s.s such feelings. Jun Wuhen was cruel, brutal and selfish. He didn’t care about the ma.s.s’ welfare. He even imposed all kinds of taxes on the ma.s.s when they already had a hard life.
The ma.s.s were living in the h.e.l.l. The people in the empire capital were living in a better condition. But people in rural areas in Chengxi were finding refuge everywhere.
Comparing Jun Wuhen with present Jun Yeyan, the ma.s.s could not help asking themselves, were they wrong to choose Jun Wuhen as their emperor?
But n.o.body could give them the answer.
Jun Wuhen went back to the palace and felt relaxed after sending away Jun Yeyan. He was very happy and wanted to summon Liu Manyun. But he suddenly recalled that Liu Manyun was already dead.
Jun Wuhen’s good mood was spoiled.
“Liu Shun, send for Bai Qiwei.” Jun Wuhen was very distressed.
The eunuch Liu Shun, who was now favored by Jun Wuhen, answered scrupulously, “Got it.”
Then he went out to handle the issues.
Not a long while, Bai Qiwei, who originally intended to come to the palace, was brought to the imperial study.
“Your Majesty.” Bai Qiwei saluted politely, blinking his cunning eyes.
“Stand up.” Jun Wuhen waved his hand.
“What is your command, Your Majesty?” Bai Qiwei asked scrupulously.
Jun Wuhen said in deep voice, “Concubine Yun’s death has grieved me. But Cangsheng has never been caught. I am very sad. Concubine Yun has been with me for so many years. I cannot forget her. I, as the emperor of Chengxi, should not be so emotional. Do you have any method to help me out of this affection?”
Jun Wuhen just faked his grief for Liu Manyun. Bai Qiwei would have been cheated by Jun Wuhen if he didn’t know Jun Wuhen well.
But he had followed Jun Wuhen for so many years. He knew Jun Wuhen very well. However, he pretended he didn’t know what was in Jun Wuhen’s mind.
“There are rarely someone would value a relations.h.i.+p with a lady as much as you do with Concubine Yun. But in my opinion, Concubine Yun is definitely not willing to see you in sorrow like this. Your Majesty, please take care!” Bai Qiwei said grievously.
Jun Wuhen sneered in silence. He didn’t expect Bai Qiwei was so cunning. Apparently, Bai Qiwei knew clearly what was in his mind, but he pretended not to know anything.
“Your words make sense. But it is very hard for me to move on. I cannot eat and sleep sound before I can move on.” Jun Wuhen lifted his eyebrows.
Bai Qiwei pretended to be anxious, “Your Majesty, you need to take care! I have an idea, but I am not sure it is appropriate.”
Jun Wuhen said, “Please go ahead.”
Bai Qiwei glanced at Liu Shun, who was at the side of Jun Wuhen, and Meng Fei, who guarded Jun Wuhen.
“I can understand Your Majesty missed Concubine Yun. But she has already been dead. Your Majesty, please take care. After all, there are many other concubines in the palace who can accompany you.” Bai Qiwei said, pretending to be sorrowful.
“Besides, it is time to select maids for palace. If there are one more people accompanying Your Majesty, we will have less worrying about you. And Your Majesty can move out of grief for Concubine Yun.” Bai Qiwei paused for a while and then expressed his idea.
Jun Wuhen pretended to feel difficult for this idea, “I have promised Concubine Yun that I would never select maids for the palace. Do you want me to break my words?”
“Your Majesty, you misunderstood me. All I hope is that you can get out of the grief over Concubine Yun’s death. And I believe that if Concubine Yun is alive, she will also support you to select maids. She wouldn’t want to see you in sorrow like this.”
Up to now Jun Wuhen had achieved his aim, so he pretended to ponder for a long while.
“Alas…Never mind. I believe Concubine Yun will not blame me.” Jun Wuhen said slowly, with inerasable grief.
Bai Qiwei raised his head, “So Your Majesty agree with me about the idea. I will carry this out and won’t let you down.”
Jun Wuhen waved his hand, “You will be in charge of this issue. I believe you will not let me down.”
“I will take it seriously. If there is nothing else, I will leave Your Majesty alone.” Bai Qiwei said politely.
Jun Wuhen said, “Thank you. Only you are my capable a.s.sistant.”
Bai Qiwei of course didn’t fail to read the words between the lines and he was very happy.
Seeing Bai Qiwei leave in a hurry, Jun Wuhen sneered. Maybe this was why Bai Aoxue hated Bai Qiwei, a weak and incompetent father, who would exchange relatives for his own interest. How could Bai Aoxue, who was so proud, put up with such a father?
“Prime Minister Bai, when Aoxue comes back, I will go to welcome her with you.” Jun Wuhen said to Bai Qiwei, who just stepped out of the imperial study.
Jun Wuhen really liked Bai Aoxue. Actually what he really liked was the sense of pride that he could conquer her. He would get excited when he thought that Bai Aoxue was conquered by him, and surrendered to him.
Whatever, Bai Aoxue would definitely belong to him. Even if she was not intact any more, he would conquer her and then discard her mercilessly. Just to think about this could make him so excited.
Bai Qiwei turned around and said politely, “Thank you for your concern about my daughter. I believe my daughter will also be very excited.”
Jun Wuhen enjoyed Bai Qiwei’s flattering and was satisfied.
Everyone enjoyed to be flattered by others. Being flattering can satisfy one’s vanity. As an emperor, he had listened to so many flattering remarks, but he was not sick of it, instead he actually enjoyed it.
The vanity was like a bottomless pit which could absorb all the flattering remarks.
He had never thought that it was something wrong to enjoy flattering remarks. It’s like what his father once told him that he was an emperor, he was destined to be superior to others. So he took everything happened to him granted, including being flattered.
He knew why his father favoring Jun Yeyan was only for a covering up. The real intention was to protect him. He knew his father chose him at the very beginning, which made him audacious and unprincipled. He prepared everything secretly, waiting for other princes to take action, and what he needed to do was to defeat them one by one.
Although his father asked him not to hurt Jun Yeyan, he would never leave himself any trouble. He let Jun Yeyan live several years longer, and he thought this was enough. So this time, Jun Yeyan must die!
Thinking of this, Jun Wuhen closed his cruel eyes as if he didn’t want others to peep into his secrets through his eyes.
Jun Yeyan and Bai Aoxue left the chaotic empire capital where it’s full of intrigue.
“Xue…Do you want to ride a horse?” Jun Yeyan looked at Bai Aoxue, who was resting with her eyes closed, and asked.
Chidian had already been washed, and lying cutely beside Bai Aoxue.
Bai Aoxue opened her watery eyes wearily, “Didn’t you just tell me that if I rode a horse, my wound will be split?”
Jun Yeyan’s lips jerked severely but he was not embarra.s.sed at all.
“If you ride slowly, it will be OK.” Jun Yeyan’s flattering voice was in an attractive tone.
Chidian lifted his eyelids and gave a despised glance at Jun Yeyan, but received Jun Yeyan’s threatening eyesight, which caused him to shake severely and close his eyes immediately.
Bai Aoxue enjoyed the interaction between a human being and an animal, and she curled her lips to smile.
Jun Yeyan enjoyed Bai Aoxue’s appearance of smiling, and he felt his heart seemed to be grasped hardly by her.
“What’s going on with Du Siyan?” Bai Aoxue wanted to be certain about her guessing about Du Siyan.
Jun Yeyan glanced at the other carriage cruelly and said slowly, “He is just a dog of Jun Wuhen. Jun Wuhen must find that he is useful, so he is appointed to this important position.”
“However, as a dog, he must do a deed of merit to show his master he is valuable, right?” Jun Yeyan laughed cruelly which made Bai Aoxue dumb in a moment enjoying his laughs.
Jun Yeyan didn’t wear a mask in the carriage. He showed his amazing handsomeness to Bai Aoxue only.
“Well…” Bai Aoxue pretended to cough hardly to cover up her dumbness.
However, Jun Yeyan didn’t fail to figure out that Bai Aoxue’s cough was just for covering up her loss of mind.
“So Du Siyan is appointed by Jun Wuhen to a.s.sa.s.sinate you?” Bai Aoxue didn’t care about Jun Yeyan’s bantering eyesight.
Jun Yeyan nodded slowly, and of course, he didn’t miss the concerns flicking through Bai Aoxue’s eyes.
“His will of killing me is one thing; whether he has the ability to kill me is another thing.” Jun Yeyan gave his arrogant judgment. Bai Aoxue would burst into laughter if someone else said these words. But it was Jun Yeyan who gave such comments, Bai Aoxue took it seriously.
She believed Jun Yeyan just because he was Jun Yeyan.
Bai Aoxue was concerned about Jun Yeyan when she saw cruelty in his eyes and sarcasm at the corner of his curled lips. This kind of Jun Yeyan was strange to her, but also the Jun Yeyan whom she wanted to cherish.
“I want to ride a horse. I don’t want to lose this opportunity of riding a horse.” Bai Aoxue changed the topic.
Jun Yeyan concealed cruelty in his eyes and became tender, “Alright, I’ve already chosen a horse for you.”
The moment she got off from the carriage, to her surprise, Bai Aoxue noticed a face, whose owner was looking at her challengingly from the window of the carriage opposite theirs. Wind blew up the curtain.
