Chapter 18: h.e.l.l-like mission!?

Inside Dylan's room, Captain Allen is standing in front of the saluting Dylan. The Captain looked at the young man and smiled.

"Dylan, you have a mission."

"Captain, may I know what it is?" Dylan is looking at the girl beside the captain. She is Serene, the same girl Dylan saved from the Red Feather Pirates.

He had a bad feeling about what would happen next.

"Protect this girl right here." The captain placed his hands on top of the girls head to point who he is referring to.

Serene kept a bright smile with her goggles on. She is currently staring at the doubtful face of Dylan.

"What!?" Dylan can't believe what he had heard. He looked at the Captain and tried to refuse but the Captain spoke first.

"You can't refuse." It was now declared. The Captain is unmovable!

"But, Captain I won't even receive Merits for that!" Dylan tried to reason as he knows, simply giving protection without the Naval order will give no Merits.

"Have forgotten who I am, Ensign Dylan?" The captain took his firm stance as he pointed at his shoulder. He will accept no excuses. He continued, "I am 3 ranks above you Dylan, I have the power to give merits according to your performance so listen."

Dylan with no paths for escape chose to bow his head and listen. He looked at the girl and showed and unfriendly stare while she responded with an evil grin.

This Girl! he thought. He was annoyed to the point that his veins surfaced on his forehead.

The Captain who is standing in front of him noticed his behavior. He does not know what happened between the two but he believes that it is just a part of youth.

"Dylan" The Captain stared at the young which made the latter focus his attention to Captain Allen.

"I will give you 2 merits every week that she is safe. Do not worry, this does not go against the Naval policies. Your enemy's estimated strength is at least a High-Cla.s.s Commander Rank. So the merits are just right for this mission. Understood?"

"Uh..." Dylan did not respond immediately and hesitated.

The captain saw this and immediately acted, he caught Dylan's hand and said, "Hey, kid! Am I not a superior here? Do you know that your behavior can give you demerits?"

Dylan Heard this and gulped loudly. He s.h.i.+vered as he thought of the word Demerits. He glanced at the Girl who is enjoying his misfortune. He was annoyed but did not act anymore and kept it in himself as he looks at the Captain in front of him.

"Do you understand? Will you accept the Mission or not?" The Captain repeated as he let go of Dylan's wrist.

Dylan with no other choice accepted and saluted to the captain.

"Yes, I accept, Sir!"

After the Captain left, the girl remained in the room and looks at him while sitting in the chair in a relaxed manner.

Dylan saw her and remembered what happened yesterday.

"What are you?"

"We are an Akan. One of the races that live in this world. Do you think Humankind is the only race that lives in this vast world? That is where you are wrong.

Then the girl suddenly got closed to him and said, "So from now on, I will a.s.sist you with direction while you protect me against danger alright? And also, be careful and do not show your eyes to others. It might bring more danger."

Then she looked at Dylan and found herself talking in vain. He is not even awake! He is sleeping!

The girl did not disturb and retreated to the chair. She leaned and tried to relax.
