Maybe from looking at this beautiful person, I had a loss of words from just staring at him. Perhaps that was why I didn't notice the small highly decorated katana sword in s.h.i.+ny blue casing with gold embellishments that this boy was holding earlier.
Wait. This child was holding a sword. A sword. Maybe I should take this sword away from this child, who knows what a young child might do with such a weapon.
I clasped my hands together and made my eyes sparkle with a tint of tears and asked, "Wow~ This sword looks so prewttty. Can I try holding onto it?"
The boy handed me his sword that I grabbed onto with both of hands that I dropped onto the floor the next second.
How can a small sword be this heavy? Maybe it was because all the heavy metals that was infused into the sword? I did notice some gold and silver in the katana, but I didn't think it'd be this heavy!
Wait. I was trying to take this sword away from him right? By the time I was drifting into my own thoughts, the child picked up the sword and placed it into his carrier on his waist.
Well this child did look experienced. Maybe it was better to just leave it with him, I deluded. Maybe it was time to introduce myself. "h.e.l.lo! I'm Rika!" I said while smiling gently.
"Yes I know. You're the person whose partner is Luke." The child responded indifferently.
This boy knew who Luke was, I had a feeling that this couldn't be good news. "How do you know Luke?" I asked for my future safety.
"Luke's family and mine has been friends for a long time. Actually Luke and I used to be very close, until Luke failed to get into this school because of his partner and we drifted apart a little."
No wonder Luke wanted to get into this school so badly! It was because all his friends were there! I'm sorry Luke. I feel apologetic, but I'm glad I didn't get into this school in the beginning, or else I wouldn't know how to survive with this crazy schedule without falling ill all the time.
Well, too much thinking will lead me into more stress, since there's a bed right beside me, let's go back to sleep. Just when I went onto the bed, Luke came in with tired frown. "Alex, have you seen Rika?" Luke asked.
Alex pointed to the bed, and I quickly pretended that I was already asleep. I knew that I couldn't trust Alex after he said that he used to be close with Luke! What regret! I could have escaped to somewhere else by then.
Luke walked towards the bed and yelled, "Rika, I know you're awake. Stop pretending to be sleeping."
It's creepy how Luke was way too capable and that Alex emitted a similar aura as him. What I discovered was that what's scarier than one chibi ikemen is a combo of two chibi ikemen that are together. Sigh.
I stopped laying down and sprung up from the bed and asked, "What do you want?"
Luke flicked me in the forehand and replied with a frown, "It's already 5:50. We need to head back to the cafeteria."
I was dragged into the cafeteria and met Christopher to eat dinner. Surprisingly, the food was pretty good with carbonara pasta with bread and fruits for dessert. Christopher soon led us to the dormitory like building after dinner.
I thought we would enter one of those fancy rooms with crystal chandeliers and fluffy huge beds but we were led to a bas.e.m.e.nt with rock walls and stairs resembling the medieval times. Christopher led us to a room with rock floors, old wooden door, and straw beds. The only thing that looked modern was the uniforms hung on the hanger and our backpacks with all the necessary materials needed for studying. The washroom was unfortunately the same with the toilet resembling the ancient times and a wooden pail to take a shower with from the water well made out of rocks right beside the room.
I honestly felt like crying. I grabbed Luke's hand for comfort and lost all hope for the future. Just making sure we weren't in the wrong place, I asked "Are we supposed to live here?"
Christopher answered with a generous smile on his face, "Well, it depends on you. As soon as you acc.u.mulate enough points, you can 'buy' things to upgrade your rooms. Points are granted based on the results of your exams and tests."
I guess this was the solution to motivate those young children to study in those insane schedules. Planting a trauma in these children's lives that they needed to work in order to survive would be a long-lasting effect on their lives. Well, I have to say that it worked at least for me because today was the day that I swore to myself that I would study harder to get to at least sleep in a decent bed.
