Jiang Xiao Tian was seen rus.h.i.+ng towards the Crown Princess' Palace. When he arrived, the Princess' maidservant, Ah Zhen came out to announce that the Princess was inside with the Emperor.
"I will wait for her in the hall," Jiang Xiao Tian said.
Ah Zhen nodded. She went away briefly and came back with a tray of refreshments. "It will take a while before their meeting ended. You should drink some tea first."
Jiang Xiao Tian poured himself a cup of tea and paused as something crossed his mind. "Ah Zhen, do you know what Her Highness and His Majesty's meeting about?" Jiang Xiao Tian could not help but worry. He was away from the capital for weeks to deal with some tasks that the Emperor a.s.signed to him. While he was away, he had not caught any rumor of trouble in the palace. So, for the Emperor to visit the Crown Princess at her palace and have her servants sent away was quite strange.
"That," Ah Zhen hesitated. She glanced around the room. Once she was sure that there was no one else, Ah Zhen stepped closer and spoke in a low voice. "I heard that His Majesty came to discuss the Crown Princess' marriage."
"What?" Jiang Xiao Tian paused. The news was too sudden. "Has Her Majesty found a candidate?"
Ah Zhen smiled. Jiang Xiao Tian did not force for an answer and let Ah Zhen retreat to her work.
After half an hour of waiting, Princess Lingchen finally appeared in the waiting hall with Ying Yi behind her.
"Your Highness," Jiang Xiao Tian stood up to greet the Princess.
Princess Lingchen waved her hand and let Jiang Xiao Tian be at ease.
"I heard from Ah Zhen that His Majesty came to see you," Jiang Xiao Tian said.
Princess Lingchen tapped her fingers on the table. Then, she looked up and sighed. "I guess you must have heard that His Majesty has found a candidate for my marriage."
"Why is it so sudden?"
"It is not too sudden," Princess Lingchen spoke. "This talk has been going on for a few years now. After all, I am not getting younger, and Da Cheng will need an heir. My ancestor's legacy could not end with me. Let's not talk about this matter. I thought the Emperor sent you on a few tasks. Is everything going, alright?"
Jiang Xiao Tian snapped out of his thought as he recalled the reason he went to the Princess' Palace as soon as he returned to the capital. "Your Highness, we received a letter from Yang Yun."
Princess Lingchen sat up straight as she heard the news. "A letter?" She watched Jiang Xiao Tian took out a scroll and reached for the letter impatiently. The room turned quiet as the Princess read the message. After reading a few lines, the Princess' expression turned bright but slowly turned darker as she continued to read.
"Mingyue lost her memories?" Princess Lingchen said. "How can it be?"
Jiang Xiao Tian shook his head. His face was somber as he thought of his missing sister. When he first read Yang Yun's letter, he was shocked as well. "According to Yang Yun, there was a chance that Mingyue might not get her memories back."
Princess Lingchen was crestfallen. She glanced at Jiang Xiao Tian and could imagine what he and the Jiang's family must have felt upon hearing the news. However, they were in a different world. There was nothing they could do, but to trust Yang Yun that he will find a way to let Mingyue remember everything.
"Sent a word to Chief Ye," Princess Lingchen said. "She might know a way to help Mingyue to recover her memories."
Jiang Xiao Tian nodded. "I planned to depart to Qian Rong and looked for the Emperor. After all, none of us knew how to find the Nanlin Tribe except for Chief Ye's grandson."

…
Back in G City, Yang Yun was seen together with his two new friends, Xue Yi Ming, and Li Ran, sneaking behind a building.
"I don't think this idea is going to work," Yang Yun said. He had listened to Xue Yi Ming and Li Ran's idea to get closer to Mingyue for a while and knew that Mingyue would not fall for their trick. However, looking at the two men, Yang Yun wondered why they were too excited to help him. Were they too bored?
"What do you mean it's not going to work?" Li Ran questioned. "I asked my a.s.sistant to send me a few best-selling romance novel and read them for a week. You can probably call me a love guru now."
Xue Yi Ming scoffed. "What love guru? You never had a girlfriend in this lifetime."
Li Ran's face grew dark. "Talk about the pot calling the kettle black." he turned to Yang Yun and smiled. "Yang Yun ah, trust me. Not only I've studied from a few books. I have asked around, and most girls agreed that they would fall for this trick called Hero Saves Beauty."
Yang Yun felt his mouth twitched. How can he not know this trick? After all, in his world, how many of his comrade had talked about this method and tried them?
"Xue Yi Ming, are you sure that Lin Mingyue will come over today?" Li Ran asked.
"Un, un," Xue Yi Ming nodded. "I know that Lin Mingyue will come over once a month to get some Chinese medicine for her parents."
"That's good." Li Ran nodded. "I had asked my men to pretend and rob Lin Mingyue when she pa.s.sed this road. When that happens, Yang Yun, you go and save her. Then, you can use this chance to get close to her.
Yang Yun took a deep breath. "You don't understand. This trick will not work. Let me tell you something. Mingyue came from a military family."
Xue Yi Ming frowned. "Didn't you tell me that she learned medicine from her grandfather?"
"Her maternal grandfather is a famous physician," Yang Yun explained. "Her father and her brothers served the army for years. Her family had been in the military for years. Her father, Old General Jiang, had won almost every war and contributed a lot to the country."
Xue Yi Ming held up a hand to stop Yang Yun before he could go deeper into the Jiang's family history. "But what does that got to do with anything."
Yang Yun took a deep breath as he recalled the first time he met Jiang Mingyue. Soon, a smile appeared on his lips. "She was trained by her brothers and was pretty good at self-defense. I'm afraid that if we're going for this method," Yang Yun paused and looked at Li Ran. "Your men would be the one who's going to get hurt."
