Krishna Chandra was a great Emperor. He was a learned and peace loving King. He discouraged conflicts or wars. He maintained cordial relations.h.i.+ps with neighborhood emperors. Under his rule and vision Magadha flourished. Manipura was the capital city. Though he was a peace loving king, he was not weak. He was well trained in warfare, horse riding etc. He was an expert archer and swordsman. He was seen constantly training himself and he also guided young princes and princesses of the Royal Family in combat techniques. After he ascended the throne, he made military training compulsory to all citizens - both male and female who crossed the age of 16. They need to serve the army for three years from the time of joining. This helped the people to be disciplined individuals. Every citizen had to gain expertise in the arts of sword or spear or archery or any other weapon. They were given options to train in two weapons. One weapon would help in close combat like sword while the other would help in long distance combat like archery. Magadha had an extensive military force.

No woman was weak. Everyone was a warrior in their own right. Respect towards women was always practised. Children were loved and nurtured. Scholars were respected and rewarded. Important literary works were published in this period.

Krishna Chandra had a daughter by name Samyukta. He had three daughters and two sons. Samyukta was his youngest daughter whom he doted on the most.

Princess Samyukta was the most beautiful girl in the entire empire. Her beauty was an inspiration to many poets, painters and sculptors. She was said to be the best archer in the city of Manipura. Her aim was said to be impeccable.

Krishna Chandra often said that he would handover the throne to princess Samyukta as he felt that she was the most capable among his children. This lead to discord between the siblings. None of her siblings were close to Samyukta as they were jealous of her.

Her two companions were her horse - Chaitanya and parrot-Vidusha.

Chaitanya came from a long line of pure blooded horses. He was well trained by the then Military general Pratapa.

Vidusha was a talking parrot who always sang good songs and helped the princess to get over her loneliness.

The empress Padmini was always worried about Samyukta. She often prayed to G.o.ddess Durga that Samyukta would have a happy life.
