Puzzled she opened her door and walked around there were at least three feet between the water and the flooring of the camp and no gap between the floor and walls wich fully reached all the way down.
The camp measured about fifty feet wide and circular in form the walls measured eighteen feet total in heights.
The s.p.a.ce bags that she and Arkalat held where full of materials, food, and items. Popping a stronghold of this size was not even worth mentioning in the overall wealth of materials.
But still, it was impressive to realize that this place had been built overnight and that in spite of the racket she had slept like dead!
She felt slightly guilty in her heart. Finding Arkalat she smiled as she walked toward him.
Speaking with the soldiers that had accompanied him previously.
"General we should consider using boats they may be able to bypa.s.s the beast lurking under with a counselling presence crystal. Unless the animal is smart enough to spot the shadow of the boat…" pondering the question both soldier and Arkalat felt that those millennium old beasts might be able to see through the deceptions and still attack it.
"How about we test with a small boat with only one slave riding it." Thinking like this the soldier felt smart after all there would be a bait on the boat and it would cause no lost them. After all, those slaves were captured from the dark elf and not part of their true force, hence he had no problem proposing to use a slave as cannon fodder.
A sweet voice sounded as he finished talking interrupting Arkalat as he was going to voice his opinion.
"Bast, aren't you making light of a life? Are you saying because they are now bound to servitude they are now unworthy to live?" Both men turned their gaze toward the direction of the voice.
A sweet smile hangs on her lips yet that smile wasn't quite a smile and event felt slightly dangerous.
The woman stared at bast, that man stood near the general clearly lean build light feets nimble and agile this man can be qualified as a shadow. Unlike the other soldiers, this man specialty lied into the a.s.sa.s.sin field. His temperament is ruthless and heartless but he has loyalty hence why Arkalat did not diss using him.
His hair mid-length hedgehog style, deep black eyes lively skin tone in spite of the lack of sunlight.
"My lady" Bowing slightly at the lady of his boss after all in this camp she could call the Wind and Summon the Rain at her leisure. The general doted on his wife to the extreme it would be better to offend the later rather than her!
After all, if one offended the general it would be bad but if one offended the lady one would die without knowing how one had died!
Chie and the others looked over the scene after all they also had been a slave once now however they were now the friends of Speranza. While they were not worried to be s.h.i.+pped they could not help but feel pity for those that wore collars.
Bast felt that if he did not clarify his intent the lady would package him, first cla.s.s for h.e.l.l.
"My lady, I did not suggest wasting a life but if we can't fly over as the chasm is too large we can only boat over. However, we do not know if the beast can see invisible boats. If they can we have to reroute as the crossing is impossible.
Hence to see if a boat is safe to use one obviously need to cross…"
He tried to make it sound reasonable but she did not look like she agreed with his idea as he had hoped.
Arkalat looks to Speranza and spoke with a gentle yet firm tone.
"As much as you hate it, he has a point and it aligns with my own idea. I will not sacrifice a soldier for such mission but I won't make the person testing the water do it for nothing either."
He tried to pacify his fiery wife and calm her mood before the baby would be affected after all he had heard that it would be better not to annoy a pregnant lady it could affect the child.
Narrowing her eyes at him she gave him a look of inquisition has he had better come up with a satisfying answer as she was not going to let it rest…
"I could offer an upgrade if the mission is successful to the slave."
The lady crosses her arms over her breast and eyes glaring at him obviously she's not impressed.
Arkalat could not know why this little woman could not agree with him for a slave this was pretty good…
As the lady glared more and more he felt like his back was sweating…
"Anyhow we don't have much choice one has to go first as we don't know what lies ahead."
He sighed in this world he could trample anyone ruthlessly yet his wife only had to glare at him and he would get cold feet and feel like crying making him not know whether to laugh or cry.
Rubbing her temple Speranza knew that it was the sad truth. They could not advance unless one crossed the chasm and neither could they stay here after all this cave would fill up after a while leaving them all open for attacks from sea beast.
"Very well, if there is no other choice but the one going must volunteer, after all, he might die out there. Then again if no one goes we all die." this time she sighed, they both were right. Her righteousness would not get them over this darn chasm. As much as she hated it they had to cross.
