Lance yawned as he sat down. "Ok, but I was enjoying a wonderful dream before Gale woke me."
Lovell turned to Gale as he smiled, they caught Marie walking in with a bag. "Not everyone is here I guess?" Marie asked.
Lovell nodded. "Yeah, they can sleep as the rest of us can get ready; you have everything ready for Lance and Zero?"
Marie smiled as she tossed a bag to each of them. "Does that answer your question, oh by the way the King sent a message. He said that the council has asked for Fang to chat?"
Fang looked at her, "Well this might things a little easier but not by much." Fang glanced over at Lovell. "Tell them if you can that I will have a chat and say that I'm coming with my younger brother. That should make them ask lots of questions about my life and keep them distracted long enough that Scarlet and the others to be in possession."
Marie nodded at his request. "Will do, but I need these two to get ready before the first patrol. The King is waiting to hand off the staff to Zero so he can just hide till the time is right for him to appear."
Lovell acknowledged Marie as he turned to Lance and Zero; they both nodded as they followed Marie out to start the plan. Gale turned to Lovell. "You want Zephyr to wake the other two?"
Lovell turned to Gale. "Yes, me and Fang will leave one hour after the rest of you leave to start your parts of the plan."
Gale looked at Lovell, "You forgot that I was a part of the plan that was with Lance and Zero, didn't you?"
Lovell froze as sweat dripped down. "Sorry, Gale it slipped last night when I talked to them and besides, I think that you should go with Scarlet to help with the riot." Lovell laughed nervously at him.
Gale smiled as he leaned back. "That's fine its better this way; we can start in two different locations so that its more effective that way."
Lovell rubbed his head, embarra.s.sed that he forgot, he watched as Zephyr went to wake Luna and Scarlet. Moments later Luna and Scarlet walked in as they noticed Gale was still there.
Scarlet looked at Lovell. "Why is Gale here and where are Lance and Zero?"
Lovell sighed as he leaned on the table. "Slight change of plan but it will still work, Gale his helping you out for optimum effect on the riot, and Zero and Lance are already at the castle prepping for the first stage."
Luna smiled as she turned to Gale, "I hope for the best then, I think me, and Zephyr will leave to get our man from the slums and wait till the trial starts then. We will stick to the shadows."
Lovell acknowledged her as she and Zephyr left, Scarlet grabbed Gale by the arm. "So, we will start once we know you are at the gates?"
Lovell shook his head. "Gale will head to the other side, and you will leave in half an hour from now, While Fang and I will leave an hour after that giving you time to move from the commons area to the main gates in starting the riot." Lovell watched as Scarlet let go of Gale. "Say something like' we shouldn't let a criminal wait for his trial he should die before us now for his defile of the royal family?'"
Scarlet had a glimmer in her eye as Gale shuddered at it. "Very well then, Gale, head our so we can get started."
Gale looked at Lovell as Scarlet pushed Gale off to the door, he looked at Lovell as he waved sheepishly at him. Lovell could only watch as he turned to Fang, Luna and Zephyr head off as well, leaving an awkward feeling within the air between them. Fang got up and leaned on the windowsill, Lovell looked at the clock as he waited for the time to pa.s.s.
Lovell turned to Fang as the clock ticked away. "It's time we leave, so let's get this done before things go south."
Fang nodded as he looked at the clock. They stood up walking to the castle, Lovell felt a knot in his stomach as they walked down the main road to the castle gates. Fang smacked Lovell in the head as they approached the gates. Lovell went to ask why Fang did that but stopped as he noticed Fang was nervous as well. Sweat dripped from his chin, as he stopped at the gates. Lovell could feel the tension rise as they waited to enter the castle grounds. The guards asked who they were; Fang answered as Lovell stared at him. One guard looked at the other before heading inside to talk to the advisor when he stopped.
A man walked over to them; the guards saluted the man as he smiled at Lovell and Fang. "You must be the Krisnik brothers?"
Fang bowed at the man as Lovell stubbled to do the same. "Yes, councillor August."
August smiled at them, as the guard returned to his post. "Come everyone is waiting for you ahead for you two."
Fang lifted his head as Lovell followed them. Lovell had seen the castle when he was with Marie, but this time felt different as they joined the other councillors. Lovell recognized one being Scarlet's father; he turned to Lovell seeing something was up.
"Why are you here, Lovell?" He asked Lovell, his voice bellowed through the halls.
Fang stepped forward in front of Lovell. "Is there a problem with my younger brother being here councillor Rosier?"
Councilor Rosier looked at Fang as he closed his eyes. "No, I was just wondering where my daughter is?"
Lovell smiled at him as he bowed, "She is fine, sir. We thought it best to leave her in town as we came to talk."
The advisor entered the room, he looked at Lovell, his eyes judging him from afar. "Well, now that we are all here—"
August looked at the king, "Where is your sceptre, your majesty?"
The other councillors looked at the king as he smiled, "I miss placed it recently, and besides it's not needed for this is it?"
The advisor looked as if he wanted to blow as Lovell smiled slightly as he watched the king smiled it off. Fang turned to August. "Now I hear there is a prisoner here that stole something of the royal families?"
August closed his eyes. "Yes, and we haven't been able to find where he hid it. HE keeps saying that he never stole it. Honestly, I think something fishy is going on?"
Fang glanced at Lovell as he turned his attention back August. "Why has he not been executed yet so that if anyone he was working with gets the message, there will be consequences if it's not returned?"
The advisor smiled. "Well we all agreed that we would do that today once you got here at—" the advisor turned to the gates. "What is that commotion?"
A guard came running in "Advisor sir, the people are outside asking for the prisoner's public execution, to happen today. They are saying that he should be made an example of what will happen if some steals from the castle?"
That advisor went pale as he looked out to the gates, he glanced at the council as they waited for his decision. He waved the guard away as he turned to the king, "I wish you never lost that staff of yours for this very thing, you incompetent fool of a king." The advisor walked down to the councillors, as he turned to a guard, "You go fetch the prisoner! We will deal with this now, sorry that we had to cut this short master Krisnik."
Fang smiled at him as Lovell cast the spell under the advisors' nose. "That is fine; we will join you in support. The people will see that you mean business with our presences."
The advisor turned to Fang as he smiled him. "Very well then shall we go then?"
Fang bowed as Lovell looked at Orville, he smiled at he discreetly giving him a thumbs up letting him know everything was going alright. Orville nodded slightly as they walked to the execution grounds. The people gather around as they waited for Ark to appear. Ark's head was covered as he walked to the chopping block.
Lovell walked up to him as he took the execution blade, he turned to the people. "As you all know this man was accused of a crime, you have deemed punishable by death, but the real criminal stands in the shadow within the castle walls!" The advisor stood in shock as Fang stopped him from interfering. "My name is Lovell Krisnik, and I know the real culprit. He's a man that has torn this kingdom apart sixteen years ago!"
The people began to chatter as he watches them think about what he said. The advisor broke free from Fang, "You speak none sense boy!?" The people looked at the advisor as Lovell waited for him to speak. "The culprit is my—" he stopped as he found what he was about to say, he turned to Lovell as he saw a grin upon his face.
Lovell stepped to the edge. "You all know of the late advisor was a non-human, but what you don't know is that he was murdered so that another he never choose, would take his place!" The people didn't believe him as they began to cry out. Lovell turned to Zero who was waiting. "May didn't know this, but that same day the princess was with child when she disappeared, and that her children were the late advisors' children as well, the late king approved of their marriage and were to marry after they were born, but the man you have trusted and destroyed you with his honeyed words took advantage of you!"
Zero walked out as he held the staff of succession; the people noticed that it was glowing brightly. The advisor felt a chill as he knew that if he spoke, he would tell the truth. Zero turned to the advisor. "My name is Zero Foxtail, and as you can see, I'm the heir of our kingdom. The advisor has toyed with all of us as he kills to silence anyone who opposes him. This man has tricked you, and my friend here has already found the truth. My uncle, the current king, was said to be incompetent but that was the advisor trying gain power that was not his!"
The people stood silent as the advisor gritted his teeth, "You have no proof of the matter—"
"I object to that!?" Luna walked onto the stage with Zephyr and the man. "Lovell here cast not long ago a truth spell meaning no one can lie while he stands here before us." She turned the man as he nodded.
He walked up beside Lovell. "I was commissioned by the advisor to steal this!" He held out the stolen pendant. "I was promised the right to return to the guards, but when I met our prince, I was shown the error of my ways. For he is also a Ren-Ky warrior just like this young man and most of his friends!" He placed his hand on Lovell's shoulder as the advisor squealed at what he heard. "So, if you think that something not wrong look at our slums it used to be beautiful and every year it creeps up to the castle!"
The people watched as they felt the truth unravel before them Lovell stepped forward as the people turned to watch what he would do next. "You know inside this is true, and I can see it within many of you. My friend's prince Gale of Grand Dale, Lance, Scarlet de Rosier, Princess Zephyr Foxtail, Prince Zero, my half-brother Fang, and Lady Lunatica's reincarnation was asked by your king to free an innocent man and exposed the advisor for who he is. For many of you, you might think I'm just saying it, but a theyan can never lie!"
Lovell stared as he transformed into his true-form; the people stared as they began to realize that the king was held against his will. They began to shout for Ark's release as the advisor tried to escape but was stopped by Lance who was hiding in plain sight. Lovell walked up to Ark and pulled him up, pulling off the blind over his head.
Ark looked at Lovell. "You a.s.s." Lovell smiled at him as the other guards chained the advisor; they looked at him as he tried to protest his release. Ark walked up to the man. "You think that by working with Demora would spare your existence and place you as the advisor; you are sorely mistaken. He kills those he finds useless."
The man struggled as Ark watched in glee as the guards took him away. The people began to cheer as if a weight was lifted from them. Lovell turned to Zero as he sighed, fell to his knees. Lovell walked up to him, extending his hand to him. "We did it."
Zero looked up at him as he smiled. "Yes, we did and without bloodshed." Zero grabbed his hand, Lovell hoisting him up. "Now, there is still lots to do before we leave isn't there?"
Lovell smiled at Zero. "Yeah, but that might happen later." He looked at the people. "I think a party is—Zero?"
Zero walked up to the people; they all stopped as they watched him step up. "I know you wish to celebrate but today is also the day my father died seventeen years ago. I wish for us to remember what he stood for and what he sacrificed his life for!" Zephyr walked up to him; Zero turned to her before looking back at the people. "Also, the laws that made non-humans outcasted are going to be re-lifted, and I want my sister to be the next advisor when we return form our duties as Ren-Ky warriors. Free our world from a menace that holds fear in the back of our minds! So, until that time my uncle, your current king will take the throne, and Master August will be the advisor!"
August stood in shock as the king laughed. "Young lord are you sure?"
Zephyr smiled at him. "He is sure; we discussed this overnight. We both think that you would be the best suited for the position till then."
August looked over at Zero as he could see their mother within their eyes, strong and wise beyond their years. August sighed as he looked at the people, seeing them watch them as he stood there. He smiled at the twins, "I would be honoured young Lord and Lady."
The next day, the current king held a banquet for Lovell and everyone. Zero and Zephyr mingled with the n.o.ble houses as to a quaint themselves with them as August helped them understand how to talk to them. Lance and Gale spoke with the King about allying with their kingdoms, while Scarlet caught up with her father and Fang stood in the background. Lovell looked around to find Luna but couldn't see her; he decides to head outside. As he did, he noticed Luna standing at the balcony, staring out into the night.
She turned to him as he walked up to her. "Nice night out isn't it?"
Lovell looked out into the night sky as he smiled. "Yeah, it's still hard to believe that everything worked into our favour this time."
Luna turned to him. "What do you mean this time?"
Lovell looked at her as his face turned red. "Look, Luna, things are going to get tougher for us, not just as friends but with the fact we both love each other and know that we can never be a couple with each other." Lovell looked over the gardens below. "Besides this is only the beginning, not the middle or the end. We need to find the last of the Ren-Ky jewels and train to use them properly if we have any chance of succeeding in freeing the world from my grandfather."
Luna's eyes darkened as she looked at her hands. "You know you might have to kill him just to save our world, right?"
Lovell closed his eyes, the thought of kill drugged up bad memories. "I know, but sometimes things we know are the right thing are the hardest to achieve." Luna placed her hand in his as they leaned into each other.
Ark coughed as they pulled away in a panic. "Well, you two seem to be more than I thought?" Lovell turned beet red, as Luna turned away covering her mouth. "Anyway, I talked to Orville, and he is lending us some of his griffons to reach the others."
Lovell turned to Ark, "Th-thanks Ark."
Ark sighed as he dragged Lovell off. "I think you two should be separated, come on we need to talk." Luan watched as Lovell struggled to get free from Ark's grip. She laughed as she turned to look at the sky once more.
Lovell managed to free himself from Ark, as Ark pinned him to a wall. "Now, tell what you know or your heritage? Seeing is that Fang filled me in on most of it?"
Lovell couldn't look Ark in the eye, "I know that I'm the Faremin prince and that Demora is my grandfather."
Ark pulled away from him, rubbing his head. "Did you meet him?" Lovell nodded as Ark could see Lovell was distraught by what he found out. "I'm sorry I never told you the truth about your father, but to me, Terrance died when Azoth took over."
Lovell turned to Ark, "Terrance is still here, just hiding while he and some others are giving info to a resistance group from within."
Ark perked up at him, "Are you sure?"
Lovell nodded, "I'm sure, a friend from the inside told me, and that he and Terrance are trying to free Hunter." Ark stared at him feeling that Lovell would not accept Hunter as he closed his eyes. "But the Hunter who killed Morris is not the same anymore. He's not a mindless clone of me but a person I would call family if he just left and found his way to us."
Ark looked into Lovell's eyes seeing that he had excepted Hunter as a brother already. "Lovell I—"
Lovell cut him off. "I know that it seems like I'm rus.h.i.+ng it but after seeing him again after all these years I think I should give him a chance, even if he is still part of the Faremin forces still but once he leaves that is when things will really change for mine and his relations.h.i.+p. I want him to know I forgive him and that I want him to know he is already family no matter the past bloodshed."
Ark could only watch as he saw how much Lovell matured before his eyes. Ark smiled as he released Lovell from the wall. "You have changed since we last saw each other; you're more mature compared to the scared kid that left us only a short while ago." Lovell smiled at Ark as he left. "your more like a son to me than all the others were." Lovell missed what he said as he walked away into the crowd.
