3. Uneasy
Lin Meng's mood did not improve even after she reached home.
“What's wrong with you?” Ouyang Ning asked, standing at the door of her room.
Lin Meng was sitting on the edge of the bed. She stood up, covered Huai'an with a quilt and walked into Ning's room.
She took a paper and pen from the table and started writing:
I think I saw Gu Yubai.
“Gu Yubai, where?” Ouyang Ning frowned. How could he know Xiao Meng was back?
Kindergarten?
“He already seems to be aware that you are back.” Ouyang Ning was worried.
Lin Meng and her brother had left deep scars on Gu Yubai. She was afraid that he would do something. She had no idea about Gu Yubai's temper.
“Don't worry, he got engaged three years ago, and he will get married soon. Even if he held a big grudge, so many years would have dissolved it. Don't stress over it,” Ouyang Ning comforted her. No matter how wrong they were, it had already pa.s.sed and Gu Yubai had also gone on with his own life.
Lin Meng nodded. Maybe she was overthinking about the issue.
“Well, sleep early, don't think about it anymore.” Ouyang Ning patted her shoulder. After all, it had been five years. He should not make trouble for them.
Lin Meng left the room and entered her own. Seeing her son sleeping in peace, the uneasiness in her heart settled down.
She picked up a photo from the bedside table.
The man in the photo, wearing a military uniform, looked handsome and tough. Even though his expression was serious, there existed warmth in his eyes for those near him.
She caressed his face with her fingertips. Her action was gentle. Placing the photo on her chest, she closed her eyes and laid on the bed.
'Jun'an I miss you.'
After that day, Lin Meng had not seen Gu Yubai again. Maybe as Ouyang Ning had said, he would have forgotten after so many years had pa.s.sed. If he could live happily her feelings of guilt would decrease.
“Mom, what is today? Why is everyone in the house so busy?” Huai'an asked Lin Meng.
Through the window, he saw many people entering and leaving. Since he arrived, it was the first time the house was lively. Like at Chinese New Year.
-Today is grandmother's birthday, so there will be many guests coming-
Lin Meng used sign language to talk with him. Today was the 70th birthday of her grandmother. From the past couple of days many people had arrived to attend the celebration. Naturally, it was very lively tonight.
Her grandfather, Ouyang Yan was highly reputed in China: a famous calligrapher with tens of millions of calligraphy and paintings. Grandma Lin Xiuhui was a famous teacher who taught singing, piano, chess, and painting. They were famous not only in China but all over the world.
