Chaos. James thought he understood the meaning of the word. Especially given how random his dungeon was and how much RNGesus played into everything that went into his very existence in DCO. Now though, with what was unfolding before him, James realized he barely understood what chaos was.
Chaos was watching The Candied King throwing the souls of its own players towards James's group of players, blasting apart dozens of players at a time. Chaos was watching his own adventurers rus.h.i.+ng to and fro, forming a bustling ma.s.s as they began dumping their essence, working to summon anything and everything available to them at this moment, in order to turn back the enemy forces. Chaos, was watching the true beginning of the dungeon war, and the battle that would involve all 10,000 of James's players.
Avatar Core Summoning Activated- Summoning Fairy Avatar in 00m 59s
James saw the notification pop up for a moment, just as he checked his own summon timer. He was waiting, impatiently, to get the points he needed, to activate his own plan. He still had roughly a minute and a half left till he would have the summon points he needed though. On the plus side, the players, his city, had listened to him. They had rushed to summon Rue, even though it cost a whopping 5k essence. Now, he just needed them to survive.
He had moved as far away from The Candy Crush-ur as he could, but the dragon continued its a.s.sault on him. James could see it was suffering wear and tear from the attacks of James's players, but still, the level 40 boss, combined with the limited amount of attacks that could reach it, was still doing its best to bring James down. That, coupled with The Candied King's long-range Holy Hand Grenade attack, were slowly taking down James's forces. There may be an extremely large number of players, but those that could get in range to attack the dragon, those that could get in range to really help at all, was limited. Their sheer number of players, was actually a hinderance in this aspect. Especially when BLANK and the dragon's attacks were AOE attacks, killing large groups of players left and right.
That wasn't James's biggest concern though. Looking in the distance, where he could see The Candied King's ma.s.sive form, he saw another large form appear. This one was very similar to the Candied King, though it wore a candied helm that covered its face completely. The second form, which James was guessing was BLANKs second Avatar, was wielding a ma.s.sive, rounded jawbreaker s.h.i.+eld in one hand, with a javelin in the other. At its side, James could just make out a sheath with a sword in it. The weapon set up, the shape of the helm, and the billowing red cloak that hung from its shoulders, reminded James of something. But he wasn't quite sure what. Regardless, he was worried about that Avatar, and slightly confused as to why it wasn't attacking yet. Though, James was guessing BLANK was just planning to deal as much AOE damage as possible, before moving in for the kill. Typical siege type tactics.

"We need to summon-" Before James could finish his next sentence, sirens erupted from the ground, letting out a loud wail. At the same time, a mechanical female voice erupted across the battlefield, stating a message James had already heard before.

James's players had summoned their second world boss. Meaning they had just blown through another 4k essence, in a race to try and bring down the attackers. It was likely that even in the chaos erupting around them, his players felt their best chance at survival, was to fight fire with fire. James hadn't given them much other choice. Considering the defenses he had provided them, the few weapons he had given them, weren't really equipped to deal with what was a.s.saulting them.
The sky opened up above them, and the M.I.N.E. Craft appeared in all of its glory. Based on the trajectory of it, it was angled, and appeared to be on a collision course with what James figured had to be BLANKs sp.a.w.n area. Regardless, the flight path was going to bring it not only over James's area, but also the battlefield before them, meaning the M.I.N.E. Crafts additional attacks, its falling debris, everything was going to attack the enemy dungeons' forces. For a world boss that seemed inanimate, and lacked any actual AI control that James could fathom, he was extremely appreciative that the developers had coded that world boss in such a way that it would a.s.sist players as best it could.
There was also a, perhaps unexpected, additional benefit of the appearance of James's second world boss. As had happened on his second floor, James watched as the defensive anti air turrets began sprouting up across the battlefield. He figured they were going to be appearing all over the map, as was the mechanic, but the fact that they were appearing here and now, was something James hadn't expected, but was greatly appreciative for.
His players also appeared extremely happy with the turn of events. James watched as players rushed towards the nearest turrets, letting out loud cheers as they turned the turrets towards the candy dragon. If there was one thing James's players were extremely good at, it was taking chaos in stride, and turning it towards their advantage. After all, they had spent nearly a month of immersion time dealing with chaos on a daily basis.
James checked his timers again as his players began launching anti-aircraft artillery towards The Candy Crush-ur. Explosions erupted around the candied dragon, making it let out a ma.s.sive roar of rage and annoyance as it turned its attention away from James, to the infuriating weapons. At the same time, James saw The Candied King stomp the ground. A moment later, the avatar was flinging another holy hand grenade towards James's forces. The attack hit with precision, blasting apart one of the anti-air turrets. Alright, so BLANK seemed to adapt quite quickly too.

James cursed audibly, causing a ma.s.s of players around him to flinch and move away quickly. He still had 1 minute until he could do what he was planning. There was also just about 20 seconds left until Rue was summoned. The summoning of James's second floor World Boss had definitely helped prolong James's survival, but already he could see anti-air attacks being launched from the distance, towards his own world boss. This battle was nowhere near finished. Nor had the tides been turned yet in James's favor. He needed a miracle. He needed something that was going to allow his forces to overwhelm BLANKs, or at least drive them back.
A loud, mechanical, beastlike roar pulled James from his musings, and turned his attention to his mech station. There, he watched as the station began to glow, and five lionlike mechs erupted from it, each letting out a roar of its own. Then, a voice, amplified it seemed as if from a speaker, came from the black one.
"Alright guys. I never thought I would get to say this, but it seems this game continues to just give and give." The voice paused as the speaker, who was definitely Z, fought back laughter. The others were laughing as well. "Go Voltron Force."
