"Calm down Jenna, Calm down, would you? What happened?"
"It's Ms. Grey Sir, I can't reach her. She's not in her home, office, or any other place that I can think of her being there."
"What?" Shane got serious. Before he could ask her any more question, she interrupted saying "She's not picking her call either Sir."
"Ugh...Fine. Fine. Where're you now?"
"I'm back at Ms. Grey's residence."
"Good. You're safe then. First, go home. It's already late and I will handle it from here. Got it?"
"Okay. Thank you, Sir. But please if you are able to reach Ms. Grey tell her to pick up my call. I will be calling her throughout the night. She's not escaping this time."
"Good" He hung up the call. He picked his other mobile which looked more like his personal use. He went to the speed dial and called a number. It was ringing but no one answered. He tried few times and was p.i.s.sed off already. He dialed another number but no reply. He was reaching his threshold when the person finally answered his call. It was the ninth attempt.
"h.e.l.lo," a familiar voice shouted from the other end.
"Where are you?" Shane controlled his anger and made sure to suck out the information.
"Why? What happened? "
"Oh, what happened? I asked you a question." This time he demanded an answer.
"On a date"
"in Vegas"
"Sorry"
Shane was extremely upset. He reached his home by now. He came out and shut the car door so hard that the other person on the phone could hear the sound clearly.
"Lillian, you Idiot. Do you have any idea what the time and date is now? Your deadline is in this week and you are in Vegas for a date." Shane couldn't control his anger anymore because he is in his home and n.o.body can disturb him. He shouted at Lillian. This time there's no excuse or anything. It looked as if Lillian might soon be in trouble with the boss.
"I know. I know. Don't shout at me. I'll be back by tomorrow evening. The deadline is still in four days. I will finish my work before that." It sounded so easy. But, the problem is whenever she goes on a date, it doesn't end well. And being one of the most gossiped authors in the industry, the company just can't handle issues anymore.
No, Shane wasn't gonna allow it this time. "Your deadline is tomorrow morning. Finish your final draft and send it to Jenna by tomorrow morning. If not, then forget about publis.h.i.+ng this book under my publication. You are free to look for another company."
"Woah Woah Woah, what was that about? Tomorrow, are you crazy? Think about me, Shane. You know how my girlfriend is, let it go this time. I will submit it tomorrow night."
"No changes, nothing. Get your a.s.s to writing. Finish the draft tonight and send it tomorrow morning to Jenna. I will call her directly. If she didn't receive any copy. That's the end. Good night Lillian. Oh, I forgot, pick Jenna's call, she's your editor, not your slave. If I ever get a call from her saying that you're not reachable. Then that's it for you. Bye."
"No Wait..." the call ended. Lillian was in big trouble.
"You better wait for it Lillian, I will make you regret your decision," Shane said looking at his phone and then went to bed.
