With such ominous look on her face, Lillian Grey inserted her 49th game Ca.s.sette and waited patiently.
*Displays Blank Screen*
The next thing we could hear was a loud thud, Lillian Grey threw her remote controller across the room. It hit the wall and landed on the floor, broken into pieces. As her gaze filled with fury, she heard her mobile ringing.
'tsk,' she made a sound as she stood up to answer the call.
Before the Menacing Lillian showed up:
As her call with Shane ended with failure, Lillian Grey felt void. All of her excitement to play video games turned vanished into dust. Leaving in disappointment, Lillian laid on the couch, her back facing the ceiling. Her mind went blank. After a few minutes of silence, she rose from her lying position. There's no excitement on her face, but it seemed that she came up with a backup plan to spend her day.
Lillian walked upstairs to her room and raided the storage closet. It contained a lot of old stuff; each one of them filled with Lillian Grey's memories along with dust.
She coughed as she raided the storage with all her might.
Approximately, 30 minutes later:
"Finally!" Lillian came out of the storage room. Almost, 80% of the stuff inside the closet was outside now. Lillian jumped around and kicked her way throughout the mess and reached the door.
She came back downstairs and started a.s.sembling her old model Video game console. It was so the 90's model. Lillian saved it for emergencies like this. She plugged in the wires to set up the game station. Then, she pulled out a bag that had numerous game Ca.s.settes - the one that goes with the old model game console.
She inserted her first tape and waited.
*blank screen*
She removed and placed it aside. As she proceeded to test the tapes, she kept seeing the blank screen, repeatedly. However, the 20th tape which had 'Dragon Ball Z' game in it was one of her top favorites.
The result was *blank screen*.
Raged in anger, she controlled herself from punching the game console - fumes released from her body. She moved on trying the others but never succeeded.
When she reached the last 49th ca.s.sette, she started releasing dark energy as she heard her phone ringing.
*back to Lillian's phone ringing*
"Yes," Lillian responded knowing that it was Jenna who had called.
"What's with the harsh response, Mr. Grey?" Jenna frowned.
Lillian sighed - feeling bad taking it out on a poor girl.
"Sorry," Lillian sighed again.
"I was calling to let you know that Grandma loved your cooking. Although she did mention a few remarks about the mushroom Ricotta, other than that, she enjoyed her food, especially the steak. I told her that I sent a thank you message to you, but she insisted on me calling to thank you properly. So, thank you, Ms. Grey, for cooking for us."
Jenna boasted about Lillian's cooking.
Lillian Grey's mood changed after hearing Jenna talk. It distracted her from the whole failed attempts to play video games.
"So, why are you mad, Ms. Grey?" Jenna asked.
Being Lillian's editor for quite a long time made Jenna well versed with Lillian's emotions. Plus, Lillian too felt comfortable expressing herself in front of Jenna.
"My video game CDs are at Shane's place. He told me that he's busy outside. I tried setting up my old game station and guess what?"
"None of them worked. Ms. Grey, those are old and probably covered in rust. You should throw them away."
"How dare you?" Lillian felt hurt.
It was her first video game set that she had purchased. Hence, throwing it out was never an option.
"Anyways, why don't you go to Mr. Ricardo's house and get yourself those CDs. Didn't he give you a spare key long back?" Jenna pointed out.
The moment she heard that Shane had already given a spare key to Lillian for situations like this, it made Lillian excited.
"Thanks, Jenna," Lillian replied hurriedly.
Lillian was about to cut the call when she felt the guilt of leaving their conversation like that.
"Jenna, tell your grandma that I will cook for her sometime in the future. It's been a long time since I saw her, I'll visit her soon to play some cards. I hope she's still in touch with the game." Lillian chuckled as she thanked Jenna for helping her out; as always.
The call ended.
Lillian's mission to search for Shane's spare key began.
After spending another 20 minutes of searching, Lillian found them in one of the kitchen cabinets. She looked at the time; it's past lunch hour, and she remembered not eating any food since breakfast. Well, it didn't matter if rescues her game CDs. After that, she can eat all the food she wants.
With a plan to invade Shane's residence and retrieve her game CDs, she grabbed her denim jacket and left the house.
