That was the situation for the past 15 minutes until the doorbell rang. Jayce stood up immediately his frozen face is excited and curious. It reflected on his body too he kept fidgeting around. As usual, Shane went to answer the door. When he opened, he saw Giselle. She looked beautiful in her dress and her natural skin was s.h.i.+nning from the sunlight.
"Welcome Giselle" Shane greeted and invited her in.
As soon as she entered she could see another figure present already. It was no surprise to her that the other person must be the author Jayce. She gave him a smile.
Shane Ricardo felt energetic since all of his guests have arrived already. He requested Giselle to be comfortable and feel at ease.
"Giselle, would like have tea or coffee?" Shane requested.
"Ah, I'll have tea" Giselle replied in a low tone. Her voice was soothing.
Although she's been requested to feel at ease, Giselle felt uncomfortable with the other person staring at her intensely.
"Jayce! Enough! She's gonna be your editor, so I highly request you not to scare her even before she starts working with you..." Shane prepared tea as well as kept his eyes focused on the living area. Now, he understood why Jayce insisted on Shane's presence during their first meeting.
Soon, Shane prepared tea for Giselle and Jayce. He brewed himself another cup of coffee. Shane must be someone who lives on coffee alone.
He served them drinks and quickly introduced both the parties to each other. Jayce took Shane's advice and changed from staring to smiling endlessly. His smile never stopped and kept appearing whenever Giselle glanced at his side.
Shane kicked him is his arms and made him stop smiling so abruptly. He then faced Giselle first and talked about Jayce, his achievement as the bestselling author, his talent and knowledge in this field. Giselle listened to them attentively. Jayce stopped smiling and often nodded to what Shane spoke of him.
He then moved on to Jayce and talked about Giselle, her previous work as an a.s.sistant. He also informed Jayce about this being her first time full-filling the role of an Editor solely.
After completing Giselle's story, Shane signaled Jayce to initiate the conversation. He caught and went right ahead facing Giselle with his haunting eyes.
"Oh... Hi Giselle, It's my pleasure to meet you, finally!" Jayce started and then continued...
"You are an absolute, stunning, and gorgeous lady, if I may say so. I guess this time I am indeed grateful to have someone as beautiful as you, young lady, as my editor. I swear, it will be a rewarding journey. I can't wait to start working with you." Jayce spoke like a poet. No one need to even take a guess, because this guy explicitly radiated the romance aura all around himself.
Shane felt embarra.s.sed as soon as he heard Jayce sprouting such things. He sighed and felt really awkward being intermediate. But to his surprise, Giselle never really showed any distractions hearing those words. She kept her calm face and handled it professionally.
"I'm flattered, Mr. Jayce" Giselle responded.
Her mind recalled Wallace's tips when she had the session with him. She clearly remembered that Wallace mentioned about Jayce's cheesy behavior.
"It was like this - Jayce's novel talks about romance majorly. He's a hit when it comes to romantic dialogs and the girl's reactions - you know the stuff. He can easily make any girl flutter with his words. Plus, he has a reputation to maintain. As much as he is a great writer, he is also compet.i.tive when it comes to maintaining that reputation. So he goes to great lengths to make sure that his stuff is all fresh and as realistic as possible."
"And how does he do that?" Giselle felt curious as Wallace began to explain.
"He does this thing with our employees or at any events where he would often use his writing skills to come up with some romantic dialogs and test his female audience's reaction. He's very experimental and doesn't feel ashamed doing stuff like that. Ladies love compliments so, it's a win-win situation for him and the girls. I'm not shaming him or anything but it's... he works so hard to derive the exact emotions that a romance novel should have. Maybe that's why his novels sell a million copies on their very first day. Also why he is famous among the ladies group. Cheeky guy!!!"
Wallace spat out Jayce's secret experiments to Giselle and warned her to not get attached to them because it's all a test to check out the reaction.
"Oh, that doesn't mean he wouldn't appreciate you if you did a good job. When you impress him with your skills, he will make sure to put in a good word to Shane. So, don't think that he isn't seeing your efforts. Just do your job." Wallace concluded.
Giselle recalled the memory and that's how she was able to remain calm whatever this Jayce guy would sprout other than the required. Plus, she also necessarily didn't feel anything even though he spoke like a magician trying to impress his audience. Giselle felt that he's just doing his job at his best level. She maintained her posture and carried out herself without any disturbance.
