The cold breeze simmered, and the rain never paid a visit, failing to everyone's presumptions, yet the chilly wind swayed through s.p.a.ce, silently alerting all to be at their cozy best.

The twilight disappeared and let the night rule over. Under this setup, two women walked side by side to each other, sharing no words but trading short glances at each other secretively.

As they roamed around the neighborhood with only a few individual houses scattered s.p.a.ciously over the land, Giselle took notice of the place with keen interest. However, the view is familiar to Lillian, and she kept her gaze random and strolled at a decent pace like she knew where their course went.

Even though the rain stopped blowing, the two ladies stuck out in the same storm again. They held their lips tight together despite its wis.h.i.+ng to serve and share all the words.

Courage seems faraway skill to master, but having beheld it at grasp from desperation, Lillian ached to speak.

"This is where my mother was born and raised!" Lillian randomly announced at seeing the houses.

"I heard, from your father-" Giselle replied correspondingly.

Lillian stopped for a split second to stare at Giselle and confirmed from her face of her awareness.

"Oh. Ok. Cool."

She then resumed her gaits.

Lillian stuttered with spa.r.s.e displeasure upon her father for already ruining their potential conversation from happening.

Both kept walking again in absolute reserve.

..

Minutes pa.s.sed as they reached a shopping district. It made the tranquility disappear, and little sounds of various sources filled the quiet intervals. It soothed and satisfied the two women who were slowing dying from the muteness.

The busy strangers, chattering group of friends, families, and even lovers- all these commotions on the streets aided Lillian Grey.

Before this incredible chance of support system disappears, she chose to initiate at least another possible conversation.

"How have you been?" Lillian asked after contemplating a variety of options.

Giselle flabbergasted, causing her to slow down from matching up with Lillian. Such a simple question, yet the weight it carries, is enormous.

'How could I answer that without screaming a thousand words to you!' - she thought.

"Doing good," she replied.

A small exchange of regards, yet it held much gravity.

Why?

Because a lot of stories from both sides still not addressed, and neither of them knew the best way to do it. Hence, the only resort was to remain quiet until the moment unveils itself, letting them grab on to the faraway determination and seize the chance.

"You?" Giselle asked, returning the respect.

Lillian glanced sideways and saw the same concern she had.

"I'm- I don't know," she admitted.

Giselle perceived that she could be the cause. They walked again in silence until Lillian chose to put an end to this growing detachment.

"The last time we were walking like this was on our high school prom night, right?" she addressed a cherished reminiscence.

"Hmm..."

"Wow," Lillian gasped in awe.

"How many years pa.s.sed?"

Lillian recalls the night and glances often at the side to find Giselle grown into a beauty herself. She admired and wondered if Giselle thinks the same.

'Does she still think I'm attractive?' - Lillian stared deeply.

Right then, she recalled the one regret from that prom night.

She never danced with Giselle. She clearly remembered taking a walk with Giselle around some skateboard park, but never danced. Later, after dropping Giselle at home and returning to her place and lying on the bed from extreme happiness, Lillian realized that they never danced.

..

As Lillian yearns to make it happen now, to her luck, they pa.s.s an open bar where music played, and pairs swayed to the tunes with grace and romance.

Lillian Grey grabbed Giselle without thinking and pulled her to one of the few remaining spots left on the floor and positioned herself with her alarmed partner to commemorate their once missed prom dance. Giselle, who got rapidly kidnapped for a few seconds, lost her mind when she found herself in the middle of the ground, surrounded by people in pairs moving their hips to the music.

"Lilly!" Giselle cried.

"Finally, you call me by that name," Lillian smirked cheekily.

"Lillian! Grey! Wait-" Giselle cried again.

Lillian buzzed, denying Giselle not to address her by full name.

"Keep calling me Lilly," she demands.

"No. Stop this. What are you doing?"

As Giselle struggled to a.s.sess her situation, Lillian took the opportunity to open up with Giselle after years. The scene helped her forgot about the million problems between the two for a short while.

"What do you think it is?" Lillian played with Giselle while making the s.p.a.ce and signaling their position to the nearby dancing couples.

"No, I can't-"

"Shus.h.!.+ It is our missed prom dance together," Lillian said.

Giselle silently gapes at Lillian in speechless as the mentioned night replayed in her head and let her discover the details.

"I always carried that regret," Lillian remarked.

"Stop it," Giselle begs.

"Why?"

Giselle scanned the crowd and found all to be straight couples.

"What will people think if two women danced together?" she tried to address the issue indirectly.

"Who cares?"

Giselle got irritated by this unbothered att.i.tude of Lillian Grey.

"Well, someone can recognize you and-"

"I don't care, Giselle. Now, stop making silly excuses and dance with me. Ah, this song is nearing its end-"

Lillian noted, but the song abruptly stops and s.h.i.+fts to the next one in the queue.

Using this as a new prospect, Lillian reaches her hand out to Giselle, taking the nearby strangers in surprise.

Some whispered while some cheered for the two women.

Lillian's smirk only grew while Giselle felt already getting dragged into Lillian's careless behavior. She sensed it for the first time that Lillian is behaving the way she used to back in high school: the same jolly smile on her charming face.

As usual, Giselle saw herself at the receiving end of Lillian's crazy conduct.

The new song begins smooth, and Giselle, not having a choice, agrees to dance, which received another round of random cheers from the standby watchers.

..

Taking Giselle's hand, Lillian took the stance and began leading slow and steady with careful steps and a keen gaze that never left Giselle even for a second.

It was a bold move from Lillian's end. The two went separate ways just a week ago. Nonetheless, the small reminder of that precious memory let them forget the current circ.u.mstance, giving them a moment of kins.h.i.+p.

Even after years, Lillian's touch gave Giselle b.u.t.terflies in her stomach. She felt how weak she got in an instant at her embrace.

The closeness made Giselle's heart to start pounding slowly, and so, she refused to connect her gaze with her partner. She kept her vision lower and never dared to look up.

Nonetheless, underneath all the sudden blindness of the pressure stored in her mind, Giselle savored it.

Meanwhile, Lillian kept enjoying this event too much that she ignored her current state, which should remind her of the budding relations.h.i.+p with Lucy. But it never happened.

As the moment completely sucked out all of the burdens, the two carried, Lillian and Giselle behaved, displaying their occasional blush and quiet content.

The more Giselle went along with Lillian's movement, the more Lillian's confidence rose to another peak.

The dance goes by, and soon the song ends to another beginning. Giselle takes the chance to run away when Lillian gave her an opening by easing a little.

She did it quietly when Lillian's focus was away from her and occupied with something else.

The mischief, when noticed that her partner disappeared, panicked for a second and searched like an insane person. The prey soon appeared on her sight, and the hunter expired in relief.

Lillian left the s.p.a.ce swiftly without disturbing other couples.

She caught up to her pace and joined Giselle.

"Why did you leave?"

"Why wouldn't I? It was embarra.s.sing to dance in front of people."

"So, you didn't hate dancing with me then, that's rea.s.suring," Lillian mumbled under her breath.

Having heard a faint of a response, Giselle inquired if Lillian uttered any comment.

"Nothing," Lillian Grey replied, not letting Giselle take notice.

Both resumed their walk, and Giselle kept watching Lillian discreetly.

Feeling her gaze, Lillian returned with a cheesy remark.

"What, am I still charming?"

Giselle's eyes grew from the startling comment, and she averted her gaze as quickly as possible.

"Uh?" she reacted in natural to signal her ignoring.

"What do you think of me now, Giselle?" "Still attractive?"

"Do you still fall for me, or did you already fell for me?"

Lillian kept hitting her without giving a chance to respond.

Sensing her motives, Giselle sped away once again from embarra.s.sment.

"Answer me, Giselle," Lillian raised her voice in public, which only further drove Giselle into a corner. She was desperate to move swiftly and hide the racing pulse from the one who plays with it casually.
