"Just the number four is bad luck," Ziyu sighed.

"Yeah a couple there was genius in group four that should have pa.s.sed but failed. This not only happened once but multiple times over the past 20 years so group 4 has been considered a death group," Xiao Hui explained.

"Maybe its just a coincidence," Jun chuckles nervously.

"Little bro once might be bad luck, twice might be a coincident but in the last twenty years it happen 4 times! None of the other group had as much mishaps as number four!" Mei said loudly. "Not only that but it happens in intervals of 4 so this is the 20th year meaning its gonna happen again."

"I'll be more careful then," Jun said lightly as he doesn't believe in the stories. Furthermore she said a genius that was suppose to pa.s.s failed meaning people still pa.s.sed.

Then a loud and strong voice echoes across the land. "The first test for the Ziyu college will be a test of your will! We will be going to the first testing site now! Follow the beam of light!"

Whoosh a thick beam of blue light in the shape of a rainbow extended out. It actually then turned into a rainbow bridge. The moment the first person stepped on, their body got covered in rainbow light before being thrust across the rainbow.

As each person stepped on the rainbow they were thrust across the sky. It only took an hour of rainbow flight power before they landed in the location that the instructor wanted. Before Jun stood an enormous mountain that could block out the sky. On the mountain entrance was a wooden ark and a stairway made out of stone. The stairway looked to be 200 meters wide as it ascends to the heaven.

"On this mountain there are 10,000 steps. A minimum of 100 steps is required to pa.s.s the first trial. The further you can go the higher your score will be. Do not go higher than what you can accomplish. Death is still possible! GROUP ONE BEGIN!" An old man with a megaphone like voice announce at the entrance.

The people in group one surges forward.

"Che only 100 steps out 10,000 and they call this a test? Ziren College sure is getting lax," someone mocked.

"F*ck if your grandpa can't even make it to step 100 I will eat a table!" Another person roared to self motivate himself.

All sorts of words were being spoken as the first group of 1000 surges forward. The moment the first person stepped on the stone he immediately collapsed. Followed by every other person. The people behind couldn't stop themselves as they stepped on top of the fallen people before they fell themselves. Most of the people managed to brake in time before their first step. While there were many that failed on the first step there were also some success.

An hour pa.s.sed and no one died but many were injured. Only 8 percent of the people out of 1000 actually made it to the 100th step. Two made it pa.s.s 150. Furthermore twenty percent couldn't even make it pa.s.s the first step.

"NEXT GROUP," the elderly man yelled emotionlessly.

When Jun saw the situation he immediately activated his eyes to try and find a solution. Strangely enough even he could not find the invisible pressure that was causing this failure.

Then group three went. Xiao Mei was in that group so Jun paid very close attention to her.

"Good luck XIAO MEI!" Xintong cheers loudly along with the rest of the group.

"Good luck," Jun shouted along with them but not as loudly.

Jun found that the first ten steps were extremely easy for her like she was walking up normal flights of stairs. Then at the 11th step he saw her body tense up dramatically like someone just added a significant amount of weights at once.

From Jun's perspective each step was like someone adding 100 pounds of weight to your overall body, but at the 11th step the weight added dramatically increased.

Lets put this in perspective. In the Martial Body Realm at it's peak a person is able to curl 100 pounds with ease with a max of 300 pounds in each arm. In the Refinement realm that ease rate of curl increased to 200 with max at 500. After that the Nascent realm is 350 pounds with ease and max at 800 pounds. At the Martial Realm a person can lift 500 pounds per arm with ease with a max at 1200. At Master realm the body goes through a refinement that increase ease of weight to 1000 and with a max at 2500. King's realm is even more exaggerated with ease at 1500 and max at 3300 pounds. It is at Heaven realm that there is a qualitative leap from 1500 with ease to 7500, with max at 18,000. In the Ancestor realm those numbers double.

Now this is for cultivators that do not cultivate in the body at all. Meaning they do not do any sort of body training aside from the normal body training. For example Jun who trains in the fiend G.o.d body refinement even at the martial realm he is able to easily life 4000 to 5000 pounds with ease. He hasn't test out his life yet but if he was too he would be able to lift a max of at least 10,000 with the possibility of 15,000. That is almost comparable to Heaven realm cultivators with no body refinement. Also Jun trains in a legendary pure dragon bloodline so his body refinement strength is a little over the top. Normal top tier body refinement would be about half of that.

From Jun's estimate Xiao Mei would be able to reach 120 to 130 steps before her real test of will begins.

In ten mins she finally reached the 130th step. At the 131st step Jun saw her knee bent down half way but she gritted her teeth and took another step.

While group 4 that include Jun went there were still people trying to climb higher on the mountain.

The moment Jun took his first step he finally felt what the other contestants before him felt. It felt like his body grew 10 times heavier. Like someone draped chains all over him.

It seems that the way to train this method was to put his body under extreme stress.

Not only that but a heavy weight person without strength to back up his weight would not walk as far as a weak light weight person.

When Jun pa.s.sed through the 11th step felt that the weight he carried directly ascend to 15,000 pound of force. He couldn't help but stutter a bit. Who here was already carrying 15000 pounds of force on the first 11 steps. As Jun stepped onto the 21st step he came to a realization. This mountain is sentient and not a dead object. This was because base on the rules of the 21st steps he has been on the multipliers were 10 and 1.5. Then it be logical to a.s.sume each 10th step from now on would have a multiplier of 1.5. For Xiao Mei who entered the 130th step whose weight is 120 pound the final product would be 155,000 pound of force on her. No matter her will power it would be impossible for her to even take that final step.

There for this mountain uses some sort of algorithm that figures out the individuals breaking point and slowly adds on pressure as they climb higher.

By the time Jun climbed to the 62 step he was sweating like a waterfall. The total weight he was bearing right now was close to 25,000 pounds. His muscles felt strained like a person who completed a marathon. He was going up on will power alone right now.

If I can't even make it to the 100th step with such a G.o.dly body refinement technique then I am no better than tras.h.!.+ Jun roared to himself and he used his qi to repair all the strain in his muscles. At the 84th step people could see a trail of water running down the stairs.

This is f*cking nothing compared to the pain I went through before! Jun roared to himself even louder. He wanted to give up so badly but thinking of his family he gritted on and kept walking. By the 90th step he could feel 33,000 pound of force acting on him. Jun could easily reduce his weight back to 160 pounds and let the average multiplier do it work. It would reduce his current pressure by a divisible of 6. Meaning he would only feel 19,000 pound of force acting on him.

Which for the current him is nothing. As he experiment with his weight he found out the actual algorithm for each 10th step. First step multiplier is 10, then 1.5, 1.5, 1.4, 1.4, 1.3,1.3, 1.2, 1.2, and 1.1 on the 90th step. That would be if your body can easily ascend each step. If not then algorithm changes again once the mountain realize you reached a peak.

Jun gathered up all his strength and used his qi and an eruption style to forcefully step onto the 91st step. At this step Jun nearly bend the knee as the force on him increased dramatically from 33,000 to 35,000.

What the h.e.l.l? Jun thought as scary thought just happened. I can't be this unlucky right!?
