"Do you think our daughter will have grown?" Kyera asked looking over at Clovis with a bright smile. Her hair was pulled back in a high ponytail as she saddled the dragon at her side. He chuckled and nodded, tucking his own items into the saddle bags.
"If she hasn't I will be surprised. She was already so lively when we left, it had to have done her some major good." Clovis admitted, closing the saddle bag and patted the dragons dark scales. The pair worked in harmony to prepare for their trip home.
"I bet she will be much happier now. Afterall, she has so many people to dote on her plus the baby." Kyera added, thoughtfully. There was a sense of sadness in her eyes as well though, and Clovis wasn't quite sure why. The expression on his face was enough to ask the question between the pair. "I just hope we can take her home one day. Being forced to leave the palace of her birth, and to become a enemy in her homeland… its difficult to swallow. No matter how much she loves Shadow Vale it will never be her heartland."
Clovis watched Kyera for a long moment. There was a sense of complexity behind his eyes as though trying to word something rather difficult. "Kyera dear, is that how you feel as well? Do you… miss the forest?" he asked a bit cautiously. She smiled softly, thinking of the garden.
"I do miss home. I mean… to be honest it has been hard on me. Being taken away from home, and then everything that has happened since then has made me miss my little safe haven." Kyera admitted carefully, there was a sense of warmth in her eyes. There was a certain amount of curiosity in his eyes as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"What was your haven?" He asked slowly walking her forward, his arms wrapped around her waist, and his chin resting on her shoulder. She let herself rest back against his chest, looking at his hands over her tummy.
"Ironically enough it's the little garden behind the house I grew up in. My brother's are buried there, and it always felt like I was protected. It was like… in that garden under the stars I was just a little girl, watching the stars. I wasn't a princess, I wasn't a knight. I was just me." Kyera explained smiling as they walked out into the courtyard, him still holding her close.
He finally sighed, pressing a light kiss to his neck before standing up and wrapping an arm around her waist instead. "I see. It was a place where you had no responsibility or restraint." Clovis tried to simplify how she was feeling and making him smile. Listening to his explanation she realized he knew how she felt. Her hand found his and her fingers intertwined with his.
"You know… when we get back we can take our little girl flying for the first time." Kyera offered trying to make a plan to look forward to. He grinned soflty nodding.
"It would be a absolute blast for you, darling. I will probably stay on the ground. No offense, I love flying but after last time, I think I am better suited to riding behind you or on the ground." He replied with a gentle smile. Kyera chuckled kissing his cheek.
"Sooo we finally found something you don't excel at." She teased and he shot her a look. There was a moment before he sighed.
"Let's go say goodbye to your family dear, I am ready to get back to our family and prepare to take over our home." CLovis sighed, knowing he would have to bide his time to actually fence words with her. For now, he would just bide his time.
