"So is this." He replies waving from her father to himself. For goodness sake his Father in law was standing her with a crown on and a cloak of shadows! The raven on his arm was most likely his sister the G.o.ddess he had just met. How was any of this straight forward? "Our family, our lives, and our future is complicated but there is one thing that holds it all together. It is ours." Clovis' hand motioned to the room, not just him and her.
"The boy has a point. Kyera, at one time you were right, your world would be the same whether you lived or died. Very little would be affected by your pa.s.sing." The Shadow King admitted his son in law glaring daggers at the man who was undoing his hard work. "However, now it is not so. You must come to that realization on your own, but till then do not try to join us in the Shadow world. Not till it is time." her father all but ordered her. Kyera stared at them both, unsure as to why but her eyes got a little misty. Clovis hugged her as her grandmother, uncle, and cousins suddenly burst into the room. The maids having finally found them all.
"Thank the G.o.ds she's awake." Bryson spoke first as he entered the room and saw her sitting up in the mound of blankets that had mummified her earlier. There was a sense of joy and relief as everyone started talking at once. Kyera couldn't help but get lost in the sudden chatter, so different from the silence of limbo. There it was only her and her brother and a world of nothing, and her mind was having trouble adjusting to so much of a onslaught. The girl had a hard time looking at her uncle though, afterall she had drove his hand to push the knife into her gut. She didn't blame him in the slightest, but that didn't mean he didn't feel something negative from it himself.
The Matriarch hurried forward and fretted over her for a moment. Kyera was slathered in love, and reminded exactly why she had to live on. Why she had come home, back to earth and back to them all.
"You feel cold… hmmm perhaps we should give you some ginger ice soup? Get your temperature back up and your body back on track." Crystalsa seemed to be fretting like a actual grandmother rather than the queen.
"I'm fine, Grandmother. I just need to let myself heal." Kyera purred softly, with a smile. The King of Shadows smiled a bit, sitting back against the window watching them talk. Clovis moved over to stand near his father in law, watching them quietly as well.
"Yes, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be more careful." The Matriarch replied, turning those warm but sharp eyes on her grand daughter. There was something in her face that warned Kyera not to argue further.
"Yes, Grandmother." Kyera agreed as Bryson sent a maid after the soup. Once they saw Kyera was fed and a healer looked her over from head to toe, the family left letting her sleep.
Kyera layed back sighing deeply after so much interaction. Her body still exhausted as it tried to heal itself naturally. Clovis closed the door behind the Shadow King and leaned against it. He watched Kyera as she laid back and closed her eyes, getting comfortable against the pillows.
He walked over, and sat on the edge of the bed removing his clothing before sliding into the bed. "Open your eyes." He whispered softly, watching her closely. Her eyes opened slowly and he smiled, taking a moment to enjoy the fact they opened again, even if it was on command. A soft smile curled her lips as those sleepy eyes batted their lashes at him.
"I'm alive and very much here, my mate. Now can we snuggle up and sleep?" She whispered, her voice soft and almost childish. He chuckled and nodded, but Kyera laid down on his chest closing her eyes. She fell asleep within seconds, but he laid quiet slowly drifting off as he cradled her. The next step of their journey would start soon and he prayed they were both ready.
