A/N: When I started to write this chapter, I didn't know which approach to take. At first, I thought that maybe I should describe the whole scene on how they died in illusion and then I thought that it is pointless.

Either way, I hope that readers can actually understand the message I tried to convey through several depictions in this chapter.

Of course, I won't spoil them, hehe.

"Why? WHY?!"

Covered in the blood of his loved ones, Rito screamed... shouted.

His house destroyed, Lala and Tatsumaki ambushed while Mikan taken as a hostage. His mind still kept on playing the scene of Tatsumaki dying in his arms in slow motion again and again.

"Hehehe... son... no, you don't qualify for that t.i.tle...

Rito, did you think that you can actually escape and live a happy life."

Outside his ruined house, a unit of trained mercenaries stood surrounding a disgusting and obese man with an extremely wrinkled face. His smirk converged the wrinkles further, making his look absolutely hideous.

"But killing your family was truly a waste. If not for their strength and background, I would have just made them my slaves... just like you were."

He smiled and looked at Rito menacingly.

Rito hugged Tatsumaki's body tighter and tighter, trying to fill the hole in his heart but her body slowly went cold. Even the flames surrounding his house couldn't warm her body.

Only she survived the blast while he couldn't even see Mikan and Lala before they pa.s.sed away. Even though he always prioritised the trio living in his house, only now did his heart understand the true value of what he had.

After all, the best way to measure a treasure's value is to lose it.

And lose he did.

Tears rolled down his cheeks and fell on Tatsumaki's soot-covered face while the blood flowing from her abdomen had already turned his clothes crimson.

"Hehehe... how does it feel? Heartbroken? That's how I felt when you escaped! I treated you well. You were my favourite among the group and you dare run away?

If I don't make you feel the same then I am not a man!"

His screams resounded in Rito's heart as the surrounding Mercenaries kept a calm and cool look even in such a disturbing scene.

Unknowingly, a crimson mist started to enter Rito's kneeling body as his mind buzzed while a deep voice emerged from deep within his heart.

"...Kill."

Though soft, Rito's voice travelled to the Old Man as his face turned even more mocking.

"Haha, Rito. I thought your mental fort.i.tude was stronger. I guess, even you can go senile, right?"

Vooommm

A formless pressure emanated out of Rito's entire body as cracks spread on the ground. Unknowingly, his eyes had already lost their focus and they had turned blazing white while the burning house in front of him disappeared into thin air, as if it didn't exist in the first place.

But Rito's mind was already caught in an endless loop of the scenes of their deaths, fuelling a dominant emotion in his heart even further.

Wrath

Gold covered the entirety of his body as beautiful marks slowly appeared on its surface. Another two pairs of phantom gold arms emerged from his back as Tatsumaki's body vanished right in front of his eyes.

His heart wasn't sad... only filled with wrath. The surrounding mercenaries disappeared as his wrath grew while the old man's expression only grew crueler.

"...Kill."

A deep voice resounded from within him as he lost his reasoning to his wrath.

Gaaaaahhhhhhhrghhhhhhhh

A deep and mournful roar sounded from his body as he immediately shot and tore the old man in half but suddenly, another image of the old man formed right in front of him.

In a ruined temple surrounded by a sea of lava, a huge statue of a muscled warrior could be seen. His arms raised high while the lifeless statue's eyes actually had slight brilliance in them.

Deep tremors emerged as the Temple alongside the sea of lava started becoming restless.

Waves of lava splashed against each other while cracks started to form on the ruined temple.

"Wrath in the heart... Mindless Beast.

A wish to protect; A wish for strength.

Only helpless rage, only lost despair.

My inheritor, the era of Mantra has ended. Control your inner self and don't lose sight of what is truly precious.

You may not inherit my soul, for it has pa.s.sed.

You may not inherit my energy, for it cannot exist.

But you shall inherit my inner weak self. Grow with it, my divinity."

Slowly and steadily, cracks emerged on the statue as a giant wave of lava smashed onto the remaining parts and swept away the whole temple.

Soon, only a sea of lava remained in this unknown s.p.a.ce while the traces of the ruined temple were oliberated.

*** (real world)

A sad roar escaped Rito's mouth as his punches grew in strength but they still couldn't leave a mark on the s.h.i.+ning bald head in front of him.

Graaaghhhhhhhhhh

Surrounded by crimson mist, his phantom fist smashed as Saitama's eyes glowed lightly. His fist parried Rito's and his body sunk slightly.

Gusts of wind followed the terrible shockwaves as Saitama slowly raised Rito's fist and looked at him with sharp eyes.

"You... why are you so sad?"

Aside from rage, Saitama didn't know why, but he did feel that the berserker in front of him was quite sad.

Alas, his question met with a growl of an answer and the battle that razed the ground continued.

Meanwhile, some soldiers were sent to scout the situation and they didn't dare exit the border. After all, the whole border was covered with uprooted trees and boulders while a ma.s.sive patch of forest was cleared up with astounding shocks and tremors.

Two figures, one clad in gold while other in a strange and almost tattered yellow jumpsuit traded blows with each other again and again as the stunned soldiers stood witness to a breathtaking battle that they couldn't even see except for the visible shocks that almost cracked the air.

"We have to evacuate this area, too."

The soldiers immediately came to a decision and immediately reported to the major.
