My eyes flutter open as the sunlight beams through my sleepy and sheer lids. My eyes flutter open as I toss to the sound of kids laughing and turn to the morning headache. I lay on my back in silence as I stare up at the cream coated ceiling. I groan. I sit up and hold my arms out behind me on my bed to keep me balanced. I finally open my eyes completely and look over at my TV, as it is set to turn off four hours ago. I get onto my feet and grab my phone from my charger and make my way downstairs to the kitchen. I turn on the tea kettle and grab the milk, bagels, and strawberry cream cheese from the fridge. After I pour myself a gla.s.s of hot milk tea and finish my creamy bagel, I head back upstairs to my bedroom. My monitor sits in front of me along with my mouse, keyboard, and headset. I lay my headphones to the side and start up my computer. I hover my hand over my inbox tab and hesitate. "Monkey, come downstairs," I look around and notice who it is. I quickly run back downstairs to my father's voice. His figure awaits in the living room. "You got something in the mail today…" his voice trails off "in this bubble envelope. Must be important." Me being the fourteen-year-old that I am, I clutch it out of his grip impatiently and rip open the glued seal. I slip out a small thin piece of rainbow paper that's trimmed with white. I read across. "My name, blah blah blah, $4,000, blah blah… wait what?" I look over at my dad who is just as confused as I am. "A… check?" In saying that, makes me run upstairs and into my bedroom once more.
I slide onto the hardwood floor of my hallway because of my no-traction socks and stumble into my carpeted bedroom. I land right onto my swivel chair and get pushed into the desk. I groan as I did when I woke up and set myself up again onto my feet. I take a seat. I feel the swollen bruise from where I hit my head, but I shake it off. Without hesitation and no thinking involved, I open my normally clean email to find thousands of unknown emails. I skim through the first few until I notice what it's about. My smile brightens and glows through the low darkness of my room. I read each and every email carefully and responding to every single one. One caught my attention. "They're asking about the characters already?" I ask myself. I reply back with a grin. "This is how I dreamed my future would be. Honey is played as me and my closer friends are played as Lark and Lachlan and a few others." I click send. Getting rid of a few unwanted spam emails, I notice how quickly people are replying back. My face goes a soft pink as I go fl.u.s.tered. I shake my head and sigh proudly. "Congratulations Savannah. You are an official author of 'Girl Meets… Dreams.'"
