Chapter 4.1: This Golden Finger Is a Bit Shameful
A quarter of an hour later, a physician brought in by the Xu Family's butler walked in. The physician examined Shen Lang's current condition. He pulled his eyelids over, checked for his pulse and meridians.
The physician raised his brows astonis.h.i.+ngly. "This is quite strange… weirdly strange… you were sick and in your deathbed, but now… you're perfectly fine! What can it be but weirdly strange…?"
"Physician Li, Shen Lang… is he cured of his illness? Are you sure of it?" The butler prodded.
"Well…" Physician Li trailed off. "There is no danger of death."
The butler's lips curved downwards momentarily before immediately bellowing in laughter wholeheartedly."Haha! Physician Li is indeed skillful in the pursuit of the medical path."
Physician Li sighed. His age-old eyes flickered. Then, his mouth parted, a slight bitterness heard in his voice. "This old one is nearing his death…"
The butler did not reply. He turned to face Shen Lang and told the handsome lotus to rest well before escorting Physician Li out of the room.
Shen Lang rose from his luscious bedchamber and walked towards the mirror. He looked at the handsome young man standing before him. It was indeed a beautiful face. Though weak and pale at the moment, his features brimmed with a sense of youthful euphoria.
The previous owner of this body… though handsome to the touch, he had a rather dull and sluggish look, always donning on a stupid countenance. He did not have much charm and at best looked much like a wooden sculpture, but Shen Lang's different now. He's a reincarnate. As of current, his eyes were full of vividness and spirit; the expression on his face bright and deep, comparably different from before.
ಥ◡ಥ It's good to be born again!
He gazed at the reflection on the mirror for well over half an hour before sitting down criss-cross in front of a low-rise desk and grabbed a book lying flat on the desk as he meticulously flipped through the pages. Of course, it goes to say he's not reading the book at the moment, only posing for G.o.d's sake.
Apart from the two memories of two ent.i.ties merged together as one, he felt other hidden mysteries veiled in the depths of his mind. Much to his surprise, he found an informational system containing all pieces of knowledge of life connected to his mind.
Wow… this is amazing!
The informational system was indeed familiar. The system was derived from his laptop full of various material consisting of books, games, movies, and so forth. In his previous life, he'd often operate on the injured men and women and those facing near death every day. It was a life lived not to the fullest. He worked a never-ending job and though rather interesting, he considered his life boring.
Staying out in the frontier where the place was often filled with hidden dangers, the technology made available to him often lagged far behind. Moreover, the internet wi-fi was slow and long overdue that he'd need to download large files books and materials in PDF format on his hard drive. It can be said that his laptop was the only thing accompanying him through most of his leisure time.
Inside his mind, he casually flipped open a book, rolled a film, and played a game. Throughout it all, the system did not distort nor shut down.
Motherf.u.c.ker! Super cool!
Various knowledge derived from the laptop was now in his mind. Not only that… he felt a vague and strange feeling flas.h.i.+ng in his eyes. Breathing deeply, he condensed his spirit and looked around. Then, a bizarre occurrence suddenly came into existence. The luxurious scenic view before him changed all at once. The world Shen Lang once saw was no longer the world the normal average man sees.
From afar, he could see scissors hidden inside the brown drawers, the still water lying on the vase, the roots tucked under the rich soil of the bonsai tree. He could peer through everything! But of course, this is the cliche tropes of the many urban novels he read where the male lead somehow gained the ability to peer through women's clothing. It's not. Instead, it is more like an x-ray machine in a hospital capable of seeing through the muscles and veins of the human body, or an x-ray machine at an airport station capable of seeing through items so as to make sure the person pa.s.sing through held no harmful possessions in their belongings.
Shen Lang suddenly remembered the bomb explosion. It not only blew his body apart into minced flesh, but it seems the x-ray machine and the laptop nearby was affected. It would seem they'd chosen to follow him through his rebirth.
How… wonderful.
There should be no other strange things which decided to follow him, right? It'd be troublesome if the dead followed him too.
Suddenly, a light bulb lit up in his mind. Since the x-ray machine and the laptop is a part of him, is there the likelihood of merging the two as one? Should be worth the try, he thought. Instinctively, Shen Lang gathered the two abilities together and combined them effortlessly.
Then, he looked down, suddenly seeing the desk's structure and texture.
A clear message resounded in his mind.
Desk: Made of rosewood. Weighs about one hundred fifty-seven kilograms.
Vase: Made of porcelain. Somewhat vintage and over fifteen years of age.
Interesting!
Shen Lang's two acquired power now functioned together as one. Not only is he able to scan through items, but he can also see the makeup structure of the items.
Meanwhile, the entrance door opened. A gust of fragrant wind blew gently by as a voice both soft and endearing echoed. "Shen Lang… are you cured…? That's great! I'm so happy…"
Shen Lang turned around. What he saw was only bones, veins, and internal organs.
"……"
His vision receded and he could see normally again. Soon, a graceful beauty came into view.
