Chapter 98 - Punish

Song Xiao returned to A City before the end of the year, prepared to discuss this project with his father.

“You want to enter the company?” Song Zicheng looked his son up and down. “Alright.” He had always worried that his son’s ambitions would be too big, and that he wouldn’t be willing to take over his Xinghai Entertainment. Given his son’s unusual willingness now, he would naturally support him.

Song Xiao hadn’t expected Song Zicheng to be this easy to convince and was somewhat suspicious.

What he didn’t know was that everyone had speculated that there would be upheaval in China’s Yu family because of the accident. Who would have guessed that Yu Tang, who was just twenty years old, would actually be able to control the entire China region, as well as intimidate that bunch of old men in such a terrifying manner. Because the Yu family was in A City, the upper echelon here had already turned into a legend. Everyone looked at their own children and instantly felt that they were too embarra.s.sing in comparison.

Song Zicheng’s friends had all tossed their sons into their companies to learn through experience, and he had envied his friends for a long time.

Thus, Song Xiao smoothly obtained the position of a trainee chairman, and directly joined the company.

“Song Xiao, you’re finally back!” Li Weiwei was now a popular star in the domestic circle who had filmed two TV dramas back to back, both as the main lead. He was now a mighty figure that no one dared approach. When he saw Song Xiao, he threw an arm over his shoulders and pulled him into the office building.

“David ge!”

“h.e.l.lo, Wei ge!”

Along the way, some small actors greeted Li Weiwei respectfully when they saw him.

Song Xiao’s office was next to Song Zicheng’s. When they reached the middle floor, Song Xiao was going to step out, but Li Weiwei pulled him back.

“As a new chairman who has just taken office, you should walk around. Don’t be in such a hurry to go to the office ma.” Li Weiwei clung to Song Xiao, and the elevator doors closed once more before it slowly went up to the top floor.

The top floor of Xinghai Entertainment was still a training cla.s.sroom, and many newbies were practicing diligently. Li Weiwei felt very moved, as if he had returned to that moment a few years ago when he had brought Song Xiao here for the first time to have a look.

“You’re not using this place anymore, right?” Since they were already here, Song Xiao was prepared to have a serious look around. Since he wanted to take over this company, he naturally had to understand every aspect of it.

“I come once in a while if there’s a special training or something.” Li Weiwei scratched his head. He was still studying in drama school, but basically didn’t attend cla.s.s. He was filming most of the time, and came back occasionally to partic.i.p.ate in some training.

Like a few days ago, after Song Zicheng suddenly thought about getting his artists to learn the popular Korean dance style, and invited a Korean teacher over. Li Weiwei had also been forced to come back and learn it. After a few days, however, he still had nothing to show for it. This sort of thing couldn’t be learnt overnight, and the moves he learnt could only be used on the variety shows he sometimes attended.

“Who do you think you are? How dare you order me around!” As they were speaking, they suddenly heard the sounds of a quarrel from the cla.s.sroom next door, and the voice was somewhat familiar.

Song Xiao stopped walking and looked through the gla.s.s door, frowning imperceptibly.

It was an acting cla.s.s. The teacher standing at the front had on an ugly expression as a young girl argued with the former. It was none other than Song Zheng, whom Song Xiao hadn’t seen in a long time.

“She couldn’t get into any university, and isn’t willing to attend art school either, so she ran here to the company to become an actress.” Li Weiwei’s lip curled. This Song Zheng indeed looked pretty good and quite sweet. Coupled with Song Zicheng’s and Qiu Mingyan’s resources, she could absolutely be pushed toward popularity; it was just that this young miss was too willful.

After looking for a while, there was nothing worth seeing. Song Xiao turned to go downstairs, and just happened to b.u.mp into a red-eyed young girl.

“Sorry, sorry.” The girl was very fl.u.s.tered and hurriedly lowered her head to apologise.

“No harm done,” Song Xiao replied indifferently as he went around her to leave.

The girl looked at Song Xiao’s departing figure and bit her lip.

“Xiao Xi, why aren’t you coming in?” A junior sister called out to her.

“Oh, coming.” The girl called Xiao Xi walked over, and couldn’t help turning her head for another look. “Senior, who’s that?”

“That ah, he’s the boss’s son.” A senior, who had been in the company for many years, informed her, “The boss declared yesterday that his son would be joining the company ah.”

Boss’s son… That was Song Zicheng’s son, the top scorer who got into Imperial University and studied abroad at Harvard. Yesterday, the boss had indeed said that his son would be interning at the company as a trainee chairman. Becoming a trainee chairman before he even graduated university it sounded laughable. But then, this place just had to be his family’s company.

When the senior left, Xiao Xi tugged her sister’s hand. “Momo, maybe we can…”

“Don’t be foolish. Even if they aren’t siblings from the same mother, they’re still family. Why would he help you?”

Hearing her junior sister’s words, Xiao Xi’s eyes couldn’t help turning red once more.

Song Xiao had returned to A City for several days already, leaving Yu Tang behind like a lonely wife at home. It was going to be the New Year soon, but Song Xiao still had no intention of returning.

Yu Tang lay in bed and rolled around as he hugged Song Xiao’s pillow, then sat up with a hmph. This daring empress must have forgotten his duty. As the empress, serving the emperor in bed was supposed to be his most important task!

Picking up the phone, His Majesty the emperor dialled Song Xiao’s number angrily. He planned to properly scold him and make him understand what he did wrong, then tell him to return that very night to accompany him for dinner.

“Tangtang…” Song Xiao suddenly said after picking up the phone.

The anger in Yu Tang’s chest dispersed with a whoosh. He was dumbstruck for a long time. Hearing the din on Song Xiao’s end, he guessed that there were people around him, and so Song Xiao couldn’t call him His Majesty.

Song Xiao was at a dinner party with his dad, and couldn’t directly call Yu Tang His Majesty at the dinner table. He said his name without thinking, then headed outside to talk. He regretted it as soon as the word left his lips. How could he casually use the emperor’s taboo name?

“Apologies, Your Majesty, just now…” Song Xiao left the private room and hurried to explain.

“It’s fine.” Yu Tang coughed dryly. “Are you drinking outside?”

“Dad has a dinner party. To take over the company, I have to get to know his connections.” Song Xiao couldn’t help saying, “Have you eaten?”

Yu Tang thought about it. It seemed that he really hadn’t eaten, and had honestly forgotten. After a moment of silence, he hung up with the final sentence, “Wait for zhen.”

“Ah?” Song Xiao was confused and wanted to ask what was wrong with him, but the call was already cut off on the other end.

The next morning, Song Xiao was awakened by his phone, and he sleepily picked up the call.

“Come downstairs.” Yu Tang threw out this sentence, then hung up.

Song Xiao rubbed his eyes and sat up. Leaning against the window and looking down, he spotted Yu Tang’s convertible, which was very conspicuously parked at the estate entrance. Dugu An was wearing sungla.s.ses, and was munching on a steamed bun as he leaned against the car.

Song Xiao washed up and got dressed in three minutes before immediately rus.h.i.+ng downstairs.

It was already deep into winter. Even though A City was closer to the south, the temperature was already below zero.

A person in a black coat stood under a bare tree. The early morning sunlight limned that handsome figure and illuminated the tip of that nose that had turned red from the cold. It was Yu Tang, who had called him from the capital last night.

After not seeing each other for a week, Song Xiao really did miss him. There was a buzzing in his head, and he threw himself at Yu Tang.

Yu Tang raised one hand to push at Song Xiao’s head, preventing him from rus.h.i.+ng forward.

Song Xiao blinked and looked up at him.

“Don’t think just because you offer up your body willingly that zhen will forgive you for the crime of not serving zhen in bed.” Yu Tang snorted coldly and grabbed the stunned Song Xiao, throwing him over his shoulder.

“Hey, hey!” The sky turned upside down, and Song Xiao was tossed into the pa.s.senger seat. Yu Tang got into the car, and Dugu An threw away the empty paper bag and jumped into the backseat.

It was going to be the New Year soon, and it was still early in the morning. There were very few people on the streets, and it wasn’t long before they were headed out of the city. Song Xiao recognised this road; it led to the Yu family’s residence.

“Going to the Yu house so early in the morning?” Song Xiao’s lips quirked.

“En.” Yu Tang’s face was cold and he didn’t say anything.

No one in the Yu family had woken up yet. Butler Cao was having a morning meeting with his a.s.sistant butlers in the wide courtyard. Seeing the convertible arrive, he declared the meeting adjourned, and brought Zhang Xiaoren over to welcome them.

“Respectfully welcoming Your Majesties back to the palace.” Cao Gonggong diligently recited the script from his last life, and Zhang Xiaoren also howled.
