Chapter 3 - Mistress

Today was the premiere of the movie ‘The Inn At The End of The World’, which the agency had heavily invested into. Qiu Mingyan, the heroine, was Song Zicheng’s longstanding lover. So, in public and in private, he had to flatter her. However, his a.s.sistant reminded him that today was the day that Song Xiao was going to be discharged.

Song Zicheng felt awkward.

This child had been reclusive since his childhood, and would neither cry nor laugh. The doctor said he had mild autism, and an inability to express feelings.

As the head of an entertainment agency, Song Zicheng often appeared under the spotlight. He’s unwilling to let people know that his child had a defect, so he always treated him as a normal child, and had never sent him to a special school.

If he went to pick up his child and disregarded the premiere, it would likely attract paparazzi. He heard that Song Xiao had lost his memory, so he reckoned that he became even stranger than before. If he was spotted by the media, he would be ruined.

Therefore, Song Zicheng chose to stay at the premiere. After cutting the ribbons, he sat down and watched the movie. Qiu Mingyan sat beside him and whispered, “I heard that Xiaoxiao will be discharged today, if you don’t go, that child will probably be sad.”

So, under Qiu Mingyan’s persuasion, Song Zicheng took advantage of the screening’s darkness to walk out of the cinema, stealthily heading to the hospital.

This time, Song Xiao had been injured, and many media outlets had been paying attention, waiting to dig out a scandal, so he decided to make a gesture of goodwill, letting Song Xiao know that dad went to pick him up. As for whether he arrived in time, that was unimportant.

In Song Zicheng’s view, Song Xiao had never been close to him, to the point that he didn’t regard him as a father. This child looked at him the same way he looked at thin air. He’d never thought that Song Xiao would say this.

“Xiaoxiao……” Song Zicheng looked within the room at the youth who had a firm gaze and lively expression. He could barely believe his eyes.

Song Xiao raised his head to see a forty year old man standing by the door. Even though his hair was cut short and his clothes were entirely different, he nevertheless still recognized that face.

“Father!”

Aunt Chen pulled Song Xiao back in surprise. “Xiaoxiao, do you recognize him?”

Song Xiao blinked, and then remembered he was supposed to have amnesia. But this man looked too similar with the father of his past life, that he almost went up to make salutations.

Seeing Aunt Chen’s reaction, he was definitely his father in this life, so he pretended to be unsure, saying, “Did I… recognize wrong?”

“Yes, you’re right! You’re right!” Song Zicheng knew that Song Xiao had lost his memory and could only remember his own name. He never thought that this child would surprisingly remember him, this dad. Suddenly he felt a bit moved, walking over and holding Song Xiao’s hand.

Now it’s Song Xiao’s turn to be stunned. The father from his past life was a pedantic scholar, he had mixed within the official circles for half his life before he managed to become a vice magistrate. He had also been very strict with Song Xiao, never once had he held him even when he was a child, let alone pulling his hand at such a big age.

Feeling his son’s stiffness, Song Zicheng felt a bit embarra.s.sed.

“Father personally came to pick me up, this son is extremely happy.” Song Xiao keenly perceived his father’s embarra.s.sment and took the initiative to return the hold.

According to the etiquette book, modern people paid attention to the etiquette of shaking hands. When others reach out a hand, one should return the grip firmly.

Song Zicheng raised the corner of his lip and turned to ask Aunt Chen, “Why does this child talk so strangely?”

“Ai, since he had amnesia, he’s been reading historical books for two days straight, so now his manner of speaking is rather bookish,” Aunt Chen explained with a laugh.

Li Weiwei looked at this picture of benevolent father, filial son, and couldn’t resist twitching his lips, “Then, President Song, since you came, then I will return first.”

Only then did Song Zicheng remember that he had originally requested Li Weiwei to fetch Song Xiao. He coughed and said, “You all can leave first, I’ll go meet the doctor.”

In the corridor, Song Zicheng’s secretary was holding the discharge report while chatting with the doctor. Upon seeing his boss, he then pa.s.sed the discharge report over.

“The doctor said Song Xiao lost his memory, but his reclusive tendencies have taken a turn for the better and can now converse with people normally. Even his intelligence has no problems anymore.”

“No problems with his intelligence?” Song Zicheng was a little astonished.

Before, his child wasn’t intelligent, and his academic performance was very poor. He had just graduated from middle school and failed to pa.s.s even an ordinary high school entrance examination. He had long given up hope.

The chubby nurse who was pa.s.sing by immediately became unhappy. How could this man be a father? Could it be that he was hoping for the child’s intelligence to drop to negative levels? She couldn’t help but open her mouth, saying, “How could you say it in that manner? For your child to have no problems with his mind, you’re unsatisfied?”

“No, no…” Song Zicheng quickly waved his hands.

“We only did a simple test. Presently, it seems that the patient has no problems with his IQ, and it’s even higher than most people.” The doctor pushed up his gla.s.ses and didn’t bother resolving the misunderstanding of the nurse. He was also rather disapproving of this sort of father.

His son had stayed at the hospital for so long, yet he never even bothered coming to visit, yet now that he heard that his IQ recovered, he began to care.

Song Xiao walked out with Aunt Chen. This was the first time he had walked out of the hospital. He looked curiously at the black metal box stopped in front of the entrance.

“This is your family’s car.” Li Weiwei walked over to open the car door, but suddenly yelled ‘whoa!’ in surprise and jumped up, scaring the woman in the car.

“David, I see you’re still just as lively as ever.” The lady dressed to the nines and wearing full makeup came down, smoothing her sparkly short skirt while speaking.

Song Xiao looked at that woman and raised a brow. Within the split-second the woman came down, he clearly saw the loathing and forbearance in her eyes. If he hadn’t guessed wrongly, this woman was the mistress whom his father personally kept. Qiu Mingyan, the darling of their family’s theatrical troupe and famous across the whole of China.

“Why did Mingyan jie come?” Li Weiwei gave an insincere smile and looked around. Sure enough, not far from them was a paparazzi’s car. This woman definitely did it on purpose, bringing the reporter to witness Song Xiao making a fool of himself.

“All right, get in the car,” Song Zicheng stepped out of the hospital and pointed at the car before him, letting Song Xiao in first.

“She’s following us home?” Song Xiao was referring to the woman leaning against the car door. Since she was a mistress, she could not step into the main family’s household without justification.

Not far away, the paparazzi saw this scene and immediately became excited. Qiu Mingyan was the lover of Xinghai entertainment’s president and had also given birth to an illegitimate daughter. This was something that everyone in the circle knew. In recent years, both of them have been going to places as a couple, and had a tacit agreement to get married.

Before this, he had never taken any photos of the Song young master. It is unknown how he felt towards this prospective stepmother. Today, it seems that he has great materials!

“This is your Aunt Qiu. Recently, Xiao Zheng has summer vacation, so they’re living in the family’s household,” Song Zicheng explained with a soft voice. Before, he didn’t think it was anything to act all loving with her, but now that his son has returned to normal, he suddenly felt a bit embarra.s.sed.

Song Xiao stood still and didn’t move, frowning at the woman who was preparing to step into the car. Even if she was visiting home, she was just a concubine. He’s the legitimate son of the first wife, how could he share a car with a concubine? Not only was it lacking in manners, it was also an insult towards him.

Turning towards Song Zicheng’s secretary, he said, “Manservant, go call another car over.”

Secretary Si Dashu was surprised. Unexpectedly, Song Xiao remembered his surname was Si. He hurriedly replied with a sound, only then did he belatedly respond, “ There’s another car outside, it’s Miss Qiu’s car.”

“Then let her sit in that one,” Song Xiao, with one hand behind him and chin slightly raised. “How could a concubine sit with a legitimate son, it is truly too impolite.”

When this statement came out, everyone was stunned.

After hearing this sentence, the paparazzi nearly screeched, the camera’s shutter ‘click click’ continuously. Today’s luck was amazing! They now had tomorrow’s headline, and also the hot topic! ‘Song Young Master Denounced Qiu Mingyan As A Concubine, Refusing To Sit In The Same Car’!!!!

“You,,,” The smile on Qiu Mingyan’s face couldn’t be held anymore, angered to the point her face was blue. This b.a.s.t.a.r.d, before he had ignored her, now he suddenly called her a concubine!

“Xiaoxiao, how could you speak to Aunt Qiu in that manner?” Song Zicheng didn’t know what to do.

Song Xiao looked at Song Zicheng, puzzled.

The youth whose sickness had just begun to improve still had some paleness to his complexion. His slim face made his pair of quick-witted eyes seem bigger, the confusion and surprise within them all the more clearer.

Song Zicheng suddenly felt a little soft-hearted. His son had just lost his memory and didn’t understand anything, then proceeded to read historical books, filling his mind with the misunderstanding of the ancient times’ culture. He sighed and told Qiu Mingyan, “Go sit in the car outside, Xiaoxiao had just recovered.”

His implication was that his son was currently the most important, so don’t provoke his anger.

Qiu Mingyan gritted her teeth and reluctantly smiled, “ Xiaoxiao is still so stubborn, then Auntie won’t bother you anymore.”

She knew that Song Zicheng was biased towards his son. Even when his son was a fool, he had not been maltreated, yet even though she gave birth to a healthy and smart daughter, she could not receive recognition.

Secretly pinching a crystal studded nail, Qiu Mingyan turned and walked away.

Song Xiao frowned. The concubines of this time were really unbridled.

The author has something to say:
