Chapter 121 - Daily Life After Marriage

After their honeymoon on the island, they returned to the country, and the two of them began to be busy with work every day.

Since they were already married, they had to buy a new house. Considering that they both worked in the heart of the capital city, and the capital’s transport situation didn’t permit the two of them to live in the outskirts, they bought a unit in the city center.

Decorating the interior was handed to the omnipotent Cao Gonggong, who was utterly delighted to do this sort of work. He even brought the great general over as manual labour.

The efficient Cao Gonggong completely decorated their house in two months.

Today was the day that they would take a look at the results. After signing the last form, Song Xiao stretched and stood up. Taking his suit jacket off the coat rack, he walked out the door.

The sun had not set yet and it was still bright outside. The staff getting off work greeted Song Xiao cordially when they saw him.

“Goodbye, chairman.” Everyone waved and watched as the chairman unhurriedly walked towards the entrance of Xinghai Entertainment and waited by the road. Not a minute later, a bright, sapphire blue convertible arrived in front of him. The door automatically opened, and Song Xiao lowered his head and got in.

“Ah, if a handsome chairman came to pick me up in a convertible after work every day, I can die without regrets!” the young receptionist said as she cupped her face.

“Wake up ba, handsome chairmen don’t like women.” Her colleague heartlessly dumped cold water over her. She then lowered her head to update her Moments on WeChat as she attached a photo of a cool convertible and the back of a confident and relaxed figure striding towards it, with the caption: Every day the chairman abuses us dogs after work, evil capitalists!

The people in her Moments were all colleagues from work, and none of their superiors was in the group. The moment she published this post, she immediately received several comments.

Secretary Room’s Xiao Zhang: Be content with your lot ba. Think of me, who has to take the files in every day; my drawer is now filled with dog food.

Financial Affairs’ Yang Lele: Yesterday, Chairman Yu came over for lunch and actually even helped the chairman sign his financial doc.u.ments! But he signed it as ‘Yu Tang’ ah, wuwu, it has to be signed again tomorrow.

Receptionist Xiao Mei: Huh? His Majesty helps our chairman with work?

Secretary Room’s Xiao Zhang: Replying @Receptionist Xiao Mei: He affects the chairman’s efficiency. so naturally, he has to compensate for it.

Once this comment was posted, everyone clutched their chests and asked what brand Xiao Zhang’s dog food was, and whether it was tasty…

The car drove to a high-cla.s.s neighbourhood in the city center. This was a high-rise building with one household per floor. It was similar to Song Xiao’s home in A City, and they swiped a card in the elevator to reach their floor.

Yu Tang had bought the unit on the top floor. Aside from the two-floor apartment, they even had a large balcony.

The elevator reached the top floor and opened with a ‘ding dong’. Cao Gonggong, dressed in his butler uniform and white gloves, was standing at the door with a beaming smile, two maids behind him.

“The place isn’t big, so I’ve only hired two people. The chef is cooking inside, so I didn’t have him come out,” Cao Gonggong said with a smile as he opened the door for his masters.

The tall entrance was designed in a gorgeous European style, which was in line with the design of this neighbourhood. It didn’t look particularly special, but the world abruptly changed when the door was opened.

“This…” Song Xiao stood outside the entrance hall and stared blankly at the interior design.

Cao Gonggong had decorated the entire place in the style of Great Yu’s imperial palace.

The s.p.a.cious duplex living room was decked out in black marble speckled with gold that was so glossy they could see their reflections in it; it looked very similar to the black and gold stone bricks that had been used in Great Yu. In the center of the living room was a wide sofa made of red sandalwood, in the style of the ancient short-legged chairs, with bright yellow sponge cus.h.i.+ons on top. In one corner stood a reading light in the form of a red-crowned crane holding a candle in its mouth, and below it was an exquisite octagonal lacquered table, upon which sat a telephone with a jade texture.

The stairs were engraved with a decorative motif of flowing clouds, covered with a thick woollen carpet, and a multicoloured gla.s.s palace lantern hung in the middle of the spiral stairs all the way to the floor.

Yu Tang also had no idea that Cao Gonggong would design the place like this. After a long period of silence, he slowly said, “Well done.”

Butler Cao immediately smiled brightly. “Laonu designed it according to your past preferences.” As he spoke, he introduced the setup of the apartment.

Who knew what shady deals Cao Gonggong made to obtain these treasures with the refined style characteristic of Great Yu, but which also incorporated the coziness of modern homes. It was simply awesome.

In high spirits, Song Xiao dragged the emperor to the bedroom. This house was their new home, and the second floor only had a master bedroom and a study.

The master bedroom occupied a wide s.p.a.ce and was comparable with Yu Tang’s room in the Yu family house. A thick, woollen rug spread out in the room had the auspicious dragon and phoenix pattern from Fengyi Palace on it. In the center of the room was a large, modern and luxurious bed.

Though the imperial bed in Great Yu was large, it wasn’t as comfortable as a modern mattress. No matter how it was designed, the wooden bed poles couldn’t be avoided. The considerate Cao Gonggong naturally wouldn’t allow for this sort of thing that the empress might knock against. As such, he gave up on a genuine wooden bed and switched to this soft bed that had no hard corners at all.

Yu Tang rea.s.sessed the bed and was very satisfied. He swept Song Xiao into a hug and fell onto the bed, rolling over it.

The bed was just the right amount of soft. Song Xiao, who had been sitting in the office for the entire day, was pressed down on the bed, and he simply relaxed, stretching out. Yu Tang straddled his body and lowered his head to look at him. Suddenly, he took out his phone and snapped a picture.

“What did you take?” Song Xiao stretched out his hand and wanted to look, but Yu Tang avoided him, one hand catching both his wrists to stop him from moving.

Not long afterwards, a photo was uploaded onto Yu Tang’s Weibo. It was a large, luxurious bed with a bright yellow bedsheet, and Song Xiao lay on top of it with a languid expression. The words attached: This bed sheet sets off his skin colour, zhen’s heart is extremely comforted.

【Wis.h.i.+ng Your Majesty hundreds of blessings and riches. I really kneel to today’s post!】

【Your Majesty, is the bed sheet truly what you’re showing off?】

【Ok ok ok, you can have the bedsheet, give me the person on it!】

【Nosebleed… Empress, this is too seductive, I simply can’t control myself…】

【Wait a second, what sort of angle was this taken at? This posture…】

Very soon, an enthusiastic artist drew out the postures of the two based on logic. Given their ident.i.ties, there was a limit to everyone’s jokes. Even though everyone wanted to see the version of the drawing without any clothes, the artist naturally wasn’t so daring, and drew the emperor in a suit straddling Song Xiao’s body and snapping the photo with his phone.

The next day, the Xinghai Entertainment receptionist discovered that the chairman had unexpectedly driven to work himself today; furthermore, it was the car which Chairman Yu had driven yesterday. With a cool drift, it stopped in front of the entrance, and the key was given to the doorman to park the car, before the chairman entered the company with a cold face.

Xiao Bai was a newly hired receptionist, and today was her first day of work. She was somewhat nervous, but her older colleague told her that the chairman was very gentle and that there was no need to be scared. Seeing Song Xiao walk in, she hastily smiled and greeted him, only to receive a simple, indifferent nod without even a single glance her way.

“The boss doesn’t look the slightest bit gentle ah.” Xiao Bai was a little scared as she spoke to Xiao Mei beside her.

Xiao Mei covered her mouth and snickered. “He definitely had an argument with his wife, don’t worry about it.”

“How do you know?” Xiao Bai’s eyes widened curiously.

“Usually the boss’s wife sends him to work, but he drove himself today. Something definitely happened,” Xiao Mei said calmly.

At noon, a black business car stopped at the entrance. The person who stepped out was dressed in a black b.u.t.ton-up and wore a pair of black sungla.s.ses. He walked in unhurriedly, followed by two brawny bodyguards and a cold-faced hottie carrying a large box.

“h.e.l.lo, do you have an appointment?” Xiao Bai was frightened by this att.i.tude, but still plucked up her courage to ask the question.

Yu Tang took off his sungla.s.ses and glanced at the receptionist. Without a word, he turned and went upstairs.

On his way, the staff and artists who saw him greeted him respectfully. Li Weiwei, who had just come downstairs, ran directly into Yu Tang, and subconsciously took a step back. “You’re here, Chairman Yu.”

Yu Tang gave him an imperceptible nod, then walked into the elevator. The two bodyguards and Dugu An, holding the lunchbox, quickly followed him and promptly squeezed out Li Weiwei.

Song Xiao was talking to Qiao Su in his office.

Qiao Su wasn’t an artist from Xinghai Entertainment, but his contract with his original company had recently expired. Because of ‘Golden Age of Jinghong’, they were on pretty good terms. Qiao Su’s manager thus wanted him to change companies.

It wasn’t that his original company was bad, but they weren’t very creative in the way they cultivated their artists, to the extent that Qiao Su, who had such good, innate qualifications, had wasted several years just being semi-famous. He had become popular recently with great difficulty, yet the company wanted him to guide newcomers, which was very burdensome. Meanwhile, Xinghai Entertainment had dug out a creative madman, and it was said that Xiao Zhengqing would be returning soon. If Qiao Su entered Xinghai Entertainment now, his future prospects would definitely be endless.

“The conditions you mentioned are all fine.” Song Xiao pushed the A-grade contract over to Qiao Su. “Take a look at this.”

Qiao Su accepted the contract with both hands, opened it, and read through it carefully. He looked at Song Xiao, incredibly moved. “Chief Song…” Even though he had become popular recently, his status in the circle was shaky. What his manager had proposed was somewhere around the starting price, but unexpectedly, the conditions Song Xiao gave were even better than what the manager had suggested.

“However, I too have conditions.” Song Xiao looked coldly at the very satisfied manager behind Qiao Su, and pushed a manager contract over to him.

When Yu Tang came up, he just happened to run into the happy Qiao Su and the dejected manager.

“Your Majesty, here to deliver lunch?” Qiao Su smiled and greeted Yu Tang.

Yu Tang looked at Qiao Su and frowned slightly. Without saying much, he raised his hand, and the two bodyguards waited by the door as he brought the secret guard in.

“What is it?” Head down, Song Xiao was reading a doc.u.ment, and he asked the question when he heard the door open. Just as he spoke, an exquisite lunchbox was set on top of his doc.u.ments. Raising his head to look at the lunchbox, he followed the hands on the lunchbox up to His Majesty the emperor’s expressionless face.

“Why did Qiao Su come?”

“To talk business.”

Two men in a room alone, and Qiao Su even smiled so enchantingly – something definitely happened. His Majesty the emperor hmphed, but seeing that his empress was still angry, he took a deep breath and swallowed back the words on the tip of his tongue, and said instead, “…It’s time for lunch.”

Song Xiao raised his hand and pushed the lunchbox to one side. “Your Majesty eat first ba, this servant is a little busy today.” With that, he continued to sign the doc.u.ments with his head lowered.

Yu Tang walked over and reached out to s.n.a.t.c.h away the pen in Song Xiao’s hand. He placed both hands on the chair and trapped Song Xiao between his arms. “Do you remember what was said in our marriage vows?”

Even if they argued, they weren’t allowed to engage in a cold war… But when Song Xiao saw Yu Tang’s Weibo last night, he had refused to speak to Yu Tang.

“You couldn’t even be bothered to ask me before you posted that sort of picture online?” Song Xiao lifted his eyes to glare at him. When he recalled that photo, he couldn’t help the way his ears turned red. It truly was too humiliating.

Yu Tang felt a little guilty under that glare, but still didn’t yield on the surface. Pinching Song Xiao’s jaw, he kissed him.

During lunch break, the young ladies in the secretary room were scrolling through Weibo, when they noticed a post on Yu Tang’s Weibo from seven in the morning: Got angry, how to coax?

Below, the netizens posted a pile of rotten ideas.

【Hurry up and kneel on a durian

【Throw him on the bed and do one round】

【Don’t say anything, kiss him】

“What ah, all of these aren’t reliable at all.” Secretary Xiao Zhang hid a snicker. After refres.h.i.+ng the page, they discovered that Yu Tang had forwarded the comment ‘Don’t say anything, kiss him’, with the words: “Very useful, appreciated.”

Yu Tang remained at Xinghai Entertainment until three in the afternoon. He put down the pen and kissed Song Xiao, who was still sleeping on the sofa, before hurrying out to rush to a meeting.

Yang Lele from financial affairs came to the secretary room after work to pick up the signed doc.u.ments. When she bent her head to take a look, she immediately wailed, “Why is it Chairman Yu’s signature again ah…”

That night, Song Xiao posted a photo on his Weibo: It was of a huge durian, and holding the durian with an imperious gaze as he stood at the foot of a wall… was Yu Tang.
