“Oh, isn´t it Bela-san? How could I help you?”
Bela´s group, who left the colosseum and came to the storehouse of the Benmark company, were being welcomed by Kooza.
Right now, Bela´s [Aiandinna] and the machiini she captured of the model of Paroma´s knight group were being stored in the garage located inside this storehouse of the Benmark company.
Machiini that had special abilities and machiini used by knight groups were very rare, so it was dangerous to leave them at the parking lot of the city prepared for everyday use. Because of that, Bela entrusted the machiinis to Kooza, leaving them inside these garages.
Bela pointed to Bal, who was standing behind her, and answered Kooza.
“Yeah, this guy here might become a new member, you see. I came here just to show him the machiini for a bit. Are you free now?”
“Yes. The magician that is capable of subduing the dragon heart stone still didn´t arrive, but there won´t be any problems for that.”
While saying that, Kooza looked at the man that had the same tan-skin as Bela. His face was one Kooza had memories of.
“Hoh, isn´t it the gladiator Bal Maskar? Since you two are together, could it mean that you two are relatives?”
Bela laughed at Kooza´s words.
“Nope, it´s not that. You see, it´s not like we came from the same place. I was born from immigrants here, so I don´t really know the thing about those tribes.”
The Rahsa were people that lived in the desert of the west. But even so, they had high physical ability and were feared as a warring tribe. Every tribe worked as a mercenary group, and in case they were to become slaves, they would be sold in high price due to their capability.
“That´s right. But when you were talking about Bal-san taking a look at the machiini, does it mean that you will be giving it to him?”
“Well, that is if he agrees.”
Kooza nodded at Bela´s words, saying “I see”.
“I would have urged you to sell the machiini if you hadn´t found a pilot. Since you have already made your decision, then it can´t be helped. Well then, I will guide you there.”
As he said that, Kooza brought Bela´s group to the garage the machiini was in.
———–
“Oh, so this is a machiini of a knight group?”
Once Bal got inside the garage, he unconsciously let out a voice of praise. What was inside the garage was a machiini of the model of the knight group of Paroma that Bela was proposing to handing to him. Its total height was more than four meters. The dirt that acc.u.mulated due to its days in the bandit group was cleaned, and even the damaged parts were completely repaired.
There were many other machiinis lined up around the garage, but that machiini made Bal believe that the other machiinis paled in terms of completeness.
This was only the obvious to begin with. Each nation had their own formula for the growth of the machiinis of their knight groups, and by following it, the machiini would mature in an uniform and standardized manner. Hence, the highly fuctional machiini of the knight groups would be ma.s.s-produced to be stronger than the average machiini.
Moreover, the captured machiini has already gone through its period of growth and was now in a stable period.
Seeing that Bal eyes were being focused on the weapon as he was fixedly looking at the machiini, Bela asked Kooza.
“Can you get me a katana in exchange for the armament?”
“Yes, we have some in the stock. However, there isn´t anything of grade higher than this sword and s.h.i.+eld.”
“So he said. What will it be?”
Bal made a wry smile at Bela´s question. Seeing that he was being indecisive, Bal an embarra.s.sed face. Actually, Bela could see that he was already 90% certain of his choice.
“Yes, I would be thankful if it is possible for me to have a katana. This sword isn´t bad, but in the end, it is different from a katana.”
“Oya, what”(TL note: ->おや、乗り気だねえ<- 乗り気 = the="" feeling="" to="" try="" out="" new="" things.="" not="" sure="" what="" bela="" means="" by="" that="">- 乗り気 =>
“Don´t say bad things with the intention to. Even before, this was already… difficult to refuse.”
Saying to the end those words that even himself felt them to be deplorable to say, he stuttered. But even so, it seemed that his response was already decided. Bal imagined that he was going to be given a crudely raised machiini taken from bandits or something of the sort, but he still believed that this depended on the master he would get to pick. “So, the next one should be my [Aiandinna].”
Saying that, Bela walked to the back of the garage. Leaving the knight group model behind with lingering feelings, Bal followed after her.
At the direction Bela was walking towards was [Aiandinna], a machiini that had become now of about three to two meters of height after it had its suspension system strengthened. Compared to the machiinis at the surroundings, it had lower height. However, Kooza felt it had been gradually taking personality in these last few months of fighting. It has been ten years that Kooza had been dealing with machiinis, but this has been the first time he saw a machiini of such fast growth speed.
“I… see.”
Bal muttered. That was a machiini that was still young. Actually, aside from its left arm and the reinforced part that composed from the waist to the feet and a portion of its equipment, there was still a feeling that could be said to be of plainness to the other body parts. Even so, it kind of felt as if it had its own unique aura to it differently to the others.
“Hyahya, how is it; my beautiful machiini?”
“Ah, yes… It seems that the arms are different from each other.”
“There is a gimmick in one of the arms, you see. Because it has just been implemented, I could just mess around with it, so I really want to test it on real battles soon.”
Hearing Bela´s words, Bal carefully looked at [Aiandinna]´s left arm.
“”There is some kind of thing stored that comes out from the elbow. This is very strong for a ability, but the thing about the reinforcement on the waist and legs really stands out.””
Bal evaluated the machiini in this manner. In fact, Bela´s control on the machiini was wi, so without the reinforcement that went from the waist to the sole of the feet, it was possible that it would immediately broke down if those parts became worn out. Originally, to have Bal join in was Bela´s plan of increasing allies so that she wouldn´t.
“But then, are you telling me that you destroyed bandit groups that had machiinis with them and hunted ten bigrobears with that?”
This was something that was difficult to believe at all of the sudden.
The repairs on Bela´s machiini had already been completed. The surface was polished cleanly, and so that all the reminiscent of the rough battle against the bigrobears wouldn´t remain, Kooza had all the atrociousness there was the last time he examined it cleared out.
“Well, although I don´t think you will believe it, I also saw her destroying a whole bandit group.”
“Since I´ve purchased from her raw materials of bigrobears, there are no mistakes.”
So Borudo and Kooza spoke. To begin with, the fact that she had captured a machiini could be counted as proof.
After hearing to that point, it seemed that Bal finally made his decision.
After that, they headed to the building of the slave trading company that Marfoi was at. The slave contract was completed without problems. Bal´s slave contract was a contract of twelve years as a battle slave. Compared to Borudo, who was a permanent slave, although it was being called “slave contract”, this was still sort of like a work contract for paying for the loan used to buy the machiini he would use. Although there were many regulations in the contract, the level of freedom was higher.
After that, Bela paid Marfoi for the commission cost for the slave contract. And then, the fact that Bal Maskar became Bela´s slave became open to the public.
Other than that, because the machiini that Bela got was one of the Paroma´s knight group model, which was raised with a formula used for knight groups, was of first quality, in terms of the general price, this could be considered to be a loan of over eighty million goldin. Because Marfoi would be paid approximately four million goldin by his peers just for this commission, he had been eager to find a master to Bal, thus making it be an agreeable deal to him. (TL note: It doesn´t say who was going to pay him the money, but I am guessing it is the people that were fussing over Bal by how the line was written.)
