Editors: Miss Bookie, maripaz, minodayz
Proofreader: Librismuse Li Erqin walked down the stairs one step at a time. She was feeling downcast from Ruan Mingxian's words.
Why doesn't she just confess? [・_・?] (Minodayz : we all like to know that too – WHY?) On the way, she thought about her life up until now. For the first time in her life, she was getting a taste and understanding of what it felt to feel inferior. To her, Rong Si was extremely outstanding and stood so far out of her league. Every time, she hoped that she could be better; like Su Zi, who was beautiful and excelled in her studies, or Ruan Nuonuo, who was cute and gentle. As for her, ever since middle school, she was often labelled and discriminated against as someone who was strange and weird. To this day, she still could not comprehend why all her earnest and heartfelt approaches to things were always reciprocated with an outcome that was not what she had expected. Humans really are complicated animals. During that afternoon's announcement, in the midst of reporting the school news, the broadcasting staff played a song – 'Rhythm of the Rain'. (popular Jay Chou song with a music video of a "lowly clerk" who doesn't feel good enough for his girlfriend/girlfriend's family. Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqKoXPHhmsM) Peng Zige, who was tilted back in his chair and conversing with the other guys behind his seat, suddenly stopped speaking and subconsciously looked at Su Zi. Su Zi had also looked over at the same time. Their doubtful gazes met each other: What was Li Erqin up to this time? In the cla.s.s, there were others who seemed uncertain as well. "Peng Zige, didn't you say Li Erqin told you that the school did not allow any mainstream hits to be played in the afternoon?" Peng Zige nodded his head. "That's right!" Another girl interrupted, "Isn't this 'Rhythm of the Rain'?" Peng Zige was unsure. "I don't know. I seldom listen to music." Very quickly, it was verified by other girls. Su Zi sat at her place and shot Peng Zige a look. He went to her immediately in an obedient manner. "What's up?" "What's with Erqin?" Peng Zige spread his hands. "I don't know. In this school, Rong Si is probably the only one who can understand what Li Erqin is thinking." ╮( ̄⊿ ̄”)╭ Su Zi could not deny this. "Is it possible that she's in a bad mood?" Peng Zige touched his jaw. "Maybe." "What should we do?" "Wait for her to return and ask her." Peng Zige's eyes swept across Su Zi's table and stared at her. "Why are you secretly studying again?" "What is referred to as 'secretly studying'?" "Do you want to beat me that badly?" "Yeah." Peng Zige continued to stare at Su Zi. He casually retrieved a book from his drawer and smacked it on the table with a sound. "In your dreams!" Su Zi said, "I don't have the energy to attend to you." And the broadcast was still live: A dragonfly pauses on the bamboo fence
The gla.s.s bottle is full of little forests
Our youth is vivid and full of spirit
The blinds refract the light
like the expression of having troubles on the mind…. Not surprisingly, Li Erqin was reprimanded yet again. This time was more serious than the previous time, as she had knowingly violated the rules and was thus being incorrigible. The door to the broadcasting studio was tightly shut. Within the studio, the teacher was holding his tea with both hands as he admonished Li Erqin. He reprimanded her until his throat was dry. Then he took a sip of tea and carried on. Li Erqin kept her head low in an excellent example of a repentant person. (ノ#-_-)ノ The teacher continued his admonishment with intermittent tea sipping until he had finished the tea. Drawing to a conclusion, he asked, "Is there anything you'd like to say?" Li Erqin finally raised her head, her eyes cool. "Teacher, do you think sharing something that a person likes is a bad thing?" The teacher put down the tea cup. "It all depends on what you are sharing." Li Erqin nodded and then asked further. "So, teacher, in your opinion, do you think popular songs are no good and have no redeeming qualities?" The teacher was dumbfounded. "Do you feel that listening to popular songs during the noon break will affect the students' grades?" The teacher widened his eyes. "I'm sharing what what I feel is nice music with my fellow students, and I don't necessarily share only popular songs. Is that wrong?" The teacher's expression *betrayed his impatience at this girl who refused to see reason. "These things have nothing to do with studies."
(T/N 恨铁不成钢 hentiebuchenggang -an idiom of resenting the iron that refuses to become steel. This is use to describe resentment at someone who refuses or fails to improve or tow the line) Li Erqin said coolly, "Besides being students, we are also *people with emotions."
(T/N: 喜怒哀乐 xinuaile – a term that states the 4 major emotions – happiness, anger, sorrow and joy. Used to describe human emotions.) Li Erqin was booted out of the broadcast studio as a punishment. She curled her lips unconcernedly and then took a deep breath of the fresh air outside the room. "*C'est la vie!"
(T/N: 爽 shuang literally means cool and refres.h.i.+ng but is also slang for awesome or chill.) She heard a chuckle to one side. She turned her head. It really was Rong Si waiting at a corner of the corridor. "Why are you here?" she asked. "I've come to save you." Li Erqin stuck her tongue out. "You're too late. I've already enraged the teacher." Rong Si leaned against the wall. He turned his head around to look at the teacher who emerged from the broadcasting studio to the hallway. "Is everything alright?" "It shall not be repeated next time." "Let's go." Rong Si stood up and started to walk down step by step. Li Erqin followed behind him. Even though she was on the step above him, she still couldn't see the top of his head. Sigh, if only she was slightly taller. "Li Erqin." Li Erqin looked at him. "Hmm?" "Are you in a bad mood?" "I am not." Rong Si did not speak. He walked a few steps. "Are you in a good mood then?" Li Erqin shook her head. "Nope." "So why did you suddenly decide to broadcast that song?" Li Erqin wrinkled her nose. I can't tell you! What should I do?? (`_´)ゞ Rong Si waited for a moment. The duo had walked out of the building, and Li Erqin was still silently walking behind him. He turned to look at her. She had just taken the final step from the building and into the sunlight. The April sunlight was warm and not harsh to the eyes, really bright but gentle. Li Erqin was wearing the blue-and-white striped jacket of the school uniform, and it seemed to float about her thin body. The sunlight shone on her head and illuminated the rest of her body in what seemed to be a haze of tiny particles. She stood beside a thicket of fresh green bushes, and her eyes skimmed across the lush green vista to look at him. "Li Erqin." "Hmm?" Rong Si stood under a large tree, its shade casting a shadow beside his feet. Li Erqin raised her head to look at him, and observed how the sunlight turned into beams of ray that filtered through the foliage, turning his face into something as appealing as a drawing. "Do you already have someone you like?" (MissBookie: Dun dun dun! This is the worse kind of cliffhanger, I tell you! Anyhow, see you peeps next time :P) MInodayz : AND…….
