Chapter 43.1

Peng Zige was silent for a few minutes, having a sense of déjà vu. It felt as if he was speaking with another Li Erqin!

"Oh just forget it, I've got nothing more to say." Peng Zige surrendered. "You two weirdos can just form a couple and have your very own conversation. I wish you a *hundred years of compatibility."
(TN: traditionally a wedding greeting.)

Rong Si said, "Thank you."

(MissBookie: Sebastian, this is our cue!)

Li Erqin, who had not been privy to the conversation, randomly piped in, "I am definitely able to identify who the lead male and female characters are in these mangas!"

Peng Zige applauded. "That so? Wow, you're so clever!"

Li Erqin was dumbfounded. (⊙…⊙)

In the afternoon, Li Erqin was carrying a stack of workbooks to the broadcasting studio when she chanced upon Ruan Mingxian, who was also hauling a stack of books.

Ruan Mingxian's stack was taller than he was, but he somehow managed to skillfully peek through some crack between the books to spot Li Erqin. He shouted excitedly, "Li Erqin!"

Li Erqin couldn't even recognize who it was that had called out to her. It wasn't until he walked closer that she saw it was him. She stared and asked, "Do you need some help?"

Ruan Mingxian persevered. "It's alright …"

"Really?"

"Yeah."

Li Erqin didn't ask anymore.

After walking a couple of steps, Ruan Mingxian said, "If you could just help me by grabbing a couple of books, I'd be eternally grateful."

Li Erqin readily replied, "OK."

Ruan Mingxian expressed his thanks and then stood in place for awhile. He did not, however, receive any help from Li Erqin. With some difficulty, he extended his head out to look at her.

Li Erqin spoke up, "Do you mind squatting down a bit? I can't reach it."

Ruan Mingxian tried to bend down, but before he could, all the books tumbled down to the ground.

Ruan Mingxian was stumped. ⊙０⊙

Li Erqin was likewise dumbfounded.(・□・；)

Finally, they got all the books together again. This time, Li Erqin helped Ruan Mingxian carry about a third of his load. The two of them walked shoulder to shoulder towards Ruan Mingxian's destination.

Li Erqin was curious. "Why do you always seem to be doing hard labor?"

Ruan Mingxian had recovered his usual, careless att.i.tude, and laughed easily. "The teacher likes me."

Li Erqin didn't believe it. [・_・?]

By this point, Ruan Mingxian could easily discern when Li Erqin had on her look of disbelief. He laughed. "The teacher likes to let good kids with good grades do things."

Li Erqin retorted, "Our teacher has never asked Rong Si to do any drudge work."

Ruan Mingxian raised his brows. "So who does all these things in your cla.s.s?"

"Peng Zige."

"Him??" Ruan Mingxian didn't understand. "Why?"

Li Erqin summed it up succinctly. "Too loud."

Ruan Mingxian had nothing to say.

"What about you?" he then asked. "I've seen you a couple of times doing drudge work with Peng Zige as well."

Li Erqin curled her lips. "Because I was being noisy with him."

Ruan Mingxian had on a look of disbelief. Li Erqin? Noisy?

"You can be noisy too?"

Li Erqin counter-asked, "Why not?"

"Why don't you show me?"

Silence.

Li Erqin realized what the problem was. "I can't be noisy without Peng Zige."

Ruan Mingxian laughed and couldn't resist sneaking a peek at her. He realized that no matter what Li Erqin did, she did it sincerely and conscientiously. This was why she could utter the most random and unfathomable words, but paired with her earnest expression, people would find themselves totally believing her.

No matter how he thought about it, it just made him very happy. After all, when it concerned the girl he liked, everything was special and unique.

Ruan Mingxian continued a few more steps with a slight smile on his face. Then he couldn't help but feel the stirrings of confession time again. "Li Erqin."

"Yeah?"

"Like you."

Li Erqin was concentrating on walking up the stairs. "Thank you."

Ruan Mingxian felt that he was already very used to being rejected. "You're welcome."

"Li Erqin."

"Yeah?"

Lazily, he asked, "Did you pa.s.s Physics this time?"

Finally, Li Erqin smiled. "Yes."

Ruan Mingxian was happy for her. "What was your score?"

"79."

Ruan Mingxian couldn't believe it. "You improved by that much?"

This time, Li Erqin's voice carried a note of pride. "Rong Si looked over what you wrote last time on the exam. After he explained it to me, everything was so easy to understand."

Ultimately, Ruan Mingxian still suffered a major blow to his psyche. (;-_-)ノ

(Minodayz : since I was on the roll with life action rather than anime, although totally irrelevant- this screen shot resembled the blow to RMX!!!)

"Li Erqin."

"Yeah?"

"In your eyes, is Rong Si the best?"

Li Erqin stopped and looked at him. She still had that open, earnest look in her eyes. "Yes."

"Because he's good looking?"

"Yes."

"But I'm good looking too!"

Li Erqin did not deny this. "Rong Si has good grades."

Ruan Mingxian clucked his tongue and shook his head. "It's only elementary school kids who like things like good grades."

Li Erqin said nothing as she looked at him.

Ruan Mingxian continued up the stairs. "What else?"

"He has a nice sounding voice."

Ruan Mingxian raised his brows. This was the first time he had heard of this. Nice voice?

"What else?"

"Fair skin."

At this, Ruan Mingxian admitted defeat. ＼(－－)／

The library was just in front of them, and Ruan Mingxian gave his thanks to Li Erqin again. "Just put the books on top, and I'll carry them in."

Li Erqin did not understand. "It's just up ahead. I can help you carry them in."

Ruan Mingxian narrowed his eyes at her and smirked. "Actually, this was my punishment."

Li Erqin put on an expression of surprise. w(°ｏ°)w

Ruan Mingxian wanted to pat her on the head, but he had no free hands. "Let me have them."

Li Erqin stacked the books on top of his pile, and once again, Ruan Mingxian's head was covered up.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

"Bye."

"Bye."

Li Erqin waved good-bye but wasn't sure if Ruan Mingxian could see her. She turned to go back.

"Li Erqin."

Ruan Mingxian suddenly called out to her again.

Li Erqin turned back and saw the stack of books.

"You said you like Rong Si." Ruan Mingxian was still hidden behind the books, hence his expression could not be seen. "Why don't you confess?"

Li Erqin was standing at the entrance of the hallway. The soft sighs of spring and young love blew in from the outside. Tender green shoots on budding trees made the sky around them seem particularly blue. Li Erqin thought for a bit. "Because I'm not good enough."

Ruan Mingxian was also silent for a long while. Then he said, "In my eyes, you're the best."

Li Erqin smiled. "Just like how it is in my eyes. Rong Si is the best."

Ruan Mingxian sighed. "Must you take every opportunity possible to reject me?"

Li Erqin did not reply and instead changed the subject. "Tell me, if there were a rule that we could only love one person in our entire life, would you still continue to pursue and like someone who likes someone else?"

Ruan Mingxian understood what she was getting at. He laughed. "You said it. If man can only love one person, then once he likes that person, what other choice is there!"

When she heard what he had said, Li Erqin lowered her head and bit her lip. "Then it's a good thing that's not the case." (⺣◡⺣)♡

Minodayz : ahhh well, that was quite an interesting conversation. OK, but first, the opening with PZG was just hilarious!!!! That sense of déjà vu was uncanny and RS's thank you was just brilliant!!! BUT…I love RMX. He may be the provincial dark horse (figuratively and literally lol – thanks LEQ) but he is a darling. He just herd her along with work, friends.h.i.+p and love. He is priceless, perfect gentleman and great friend – I'm sure Maripaz and a few others won't mind having him! Lol til next weeks everyone, have a great weekend.
