Alright then! With the refres.h.i.+ng habits finished, its time to start with the fields and taking care of the animals
With just our house specialty focusing on Ramuno, we won’t be able to make a living(How this world is seen as).
Being that this is the country side, there is circulation of money, but the basis of the countryside is more on being self-sufficient and bartering.
Our fields are about 3 earls, with half of it consisting of Ramuno. The other half is a green pasture with the last half containing crops (potato like) planted accordingly to the correct season.
This world (era) has not been introduced to crop rotation but it works as the same as the general rule of thumb, in which planting the same crop will reduce the soil’s efficiency and thus making crops wither. For that reason, every year we plant different crops to let the soil recover but without the knowledge of fertilizers, its difficult for the soil to recover faster.
However, I had earth magic as an ability along with my previous life experience and we were surrounded a mountain and the sea. As well as in my previous life I was a son of a farmer too, being all too familiar with making fertilizers. Because of that, our house always has a huge harvest…. which is the reason why horned hogs and blue deer raid our fields.
Of course we created fences of mud walls and laid down snares for their inevitable deaths. And yet, some still managed to climb over numerous obstacles to raid us.
And then there’s the issue with the blue deer and horned hogs being snared. It attracts gray wolves, creating a clutter of animals, snares, and the mud walls.
Well, there’s not much disadvantages with however much animals gets snared, as they’ll all be turned into pelts… besides the labor put into skinning the animal. A surprising thing is that making the fences requires a lot of work too.
Lastly, there’s the issue with harmful insects. Pesticides are nonexistent, again in this world’s era, so if bugs are found they are to be destroyed.
In reality, I can easily exclude the animals and insects with my barriers, but there are eyes in this worlds. Along with being likely to forget about giving thanks to being alive, to the utmost I try to restrain my powers. Well… I’ll still use it other times.
First, I’ll go see the Ramuno. There’s nothing suspicious found on the leaves, and there’s no bugs.
Un.
Favorable so far.
Heading towards the fields, Mom was plucking weeds.
“How’s the fields mom?”
“There’s lots of weeds since there’s a lot of nutrients”
“Ahaha! The mountain goats will be delighted”
With the usual exchanging, I went towards the animal shed
In the village, farmers customarily raises animals.
In order to cultivates wheat, farmers living in the center of the village raises cows(water buffalo like animal) to plough the fields and chickens(j.a.panese bantam like animal). Mountain side farmers obtain milk by raising goats(about as huge as cows) and to a.s.sist with carrying lumber, they raise horses(stubby legs, but their horse power is almost exactly like my original world)
Our house similarly raises horses and goat, with the exception of a different species of goat, something similar to a ram.
Two years ago, we bought this ram off a northern peddler, where it inhabited in the cold regions.
The rams provides robust furs that can be made into yarns, creating bow strings for use. It can also be milked and its meat is tasty. Its reproductive powers is strong, even excelling the weeds growth rates.
A pair cost about 3 gold(if converting to my former world, it’s about 5-600,000¥) which is expensive, but it really was worth the money. Such a useful animals, along with the others~!
Secretly using earth magic to reinforce the animal shed before, I opened the gate. 17 rams, 6 goats for milking, 1 large horse and 20 chicken were taken out.
With each animal taken out, I inspected each individually at a time.
“Un. It seems like everyone is healthy!”
Satisfied with the results, I entered the animal shed.
Although it’s called a shed, its more of an excavated mountain and about two
tennis court in length.
Having finished with the animal task, they stayed within the fences. In there, they know they are safe, its more comfortable, and water and food have been prepared in abundance. There’s no specific reason to compete. There’s no problems as well.
“Ohh, today they laid plenty of eggs! Splendid splendid!”
Putting the basket filled with fresh eggs collected near the entrance shelf, I moved on to the goats and horse beds and started cleaning.
Thanks to having the ability of carrying 5 tons and a great body, cleaning the animal shed took about an hour to finish. Seriously, I’m thankful to you G.o.d from the previous world!
“Alright then! How about breakfast”
