Chapter 37: Revenge — It’s probably Zhang Shen’s hypnosis.
First and foremost, a boyfriend is a boy.
Ji Zhe Yan saw the smile on her face become malevolent and pushed her away without the slightest bit of hesitation. He turned over to get out of bed. “I’ll go make breakfast. You should quickly go wash up.”
“Okay~” Ye Zhen Zhen watched as Ji Zhe Yan left the bedroom hurriedly, as if he was hiding from some ferocious beast, and couldn’t help but laugh. She stayed in bed for a couple more minutes before finally rubbing her eyes and sitting up.
Breakfast was as sumptuous as always, this time being warm milk, toast, and ham sausage cut into cute shapes. Ye Zhen Zhen felt that in regards to cooking skills, Dr. Ji indeed did not lose to housekeeper Zhou.
During breakfast, Ji Zhe Yan mentioned Dr. Zhang’s treatment. Ye Zhen Zhen agreed with extreme enthusiasm, as she recalled how they could renege on the debt if it was unsuccessful.
Ji Zhe Yan did not need to go to work on Tuesday, so they left half an hour before Ye Zhen Zhen’s appointment with Zhang Shen. Dr. Zhang wore a well-ironed suit like before, with even his hair combed so not a single strand was out of place. When Ye Zhen Zhen saw him, however, she connected his always languid expression to Aunt Zhang from next-door.
Although, she didn’t know what the face of Aunt Zhang from next-door looked like.
Pfft. She buried her head to snicker quietly, not daring to look at Dr. Zhang’s face any longer. Dr. Zhang narrowed his eyes slightly, his lips curving into a smile. “Is my face making you laugh?”
Pfft… Originally, Ye Zhen Zhen could have restrained herself, but now that he asked this, she was unable to stop herself from laughing heartily.
Ji Zhe Yan’s eyes imperceptibly wrinkled as if he was smiling. Dr. Zhang’s gaze s.h.i.+fted away from Ye Zhen Zhen’s breathless-from-laughter figure to look at Ji Zhe Yan beside her.
Ji Zhe Yan responded to Dr. Zhang’s beaming expression with an iceberg-like face, his lack of visible reaction thwarting Dr. Zhang somewhat.
This was why he kept calling Ji Zhe Yan his nemesis. If humanity evolved to Ji Zhe Yan’s level, then they probably would not mingle with one another.
Without relying on his several years of experience in interacting with Ji Zhe Yan, he could see some hints to a new development. “Have you been in love recently?”
Ji Zhe Yan sent
him an indifferent look. “You’re resembling a swindler even more.” However, he was inwardly a bit surprised.
Dr. Zhang smiled ambiguously. “You’re beginning to pay attention to how you dress. The only reason why a man begins to pay attention to his outward appearance—is if he’s in love.”
Ji Zhe Yan pursed his lips. He clearly disagreed with this argument. “So in Dr. Zhang’s eyes, I normally have a slovenly appearance?”
“That’s different.” Dr. Zhang’s lips curled, his smile akin to that of a sly fox. “Today, your clothing has been carefully selected and color coordinated to be in good taste. Normally, you would choose your clothing based on your mood or by routine, matching up clothing pieces casually.”
Although he said ‘would,’ his tone revealed his absolute confidence in his deductions. Ji Zhe Yan was silent for a while. Meanwhile, as if she had picked up a gold coin from the floor, Ye Zhen Zhen happily blurted out, “Dr. Ji, really? So you intentionally dressed up!”
Ji Zhe Yan’s complexion flushed slightly red at her exclamation. Ye Zhen Zhen tugged at his arm and did not hold back on her praises. “Even if Dr. Ji didn’t dress up, he is still the most handsome man in the universe!”
Seeing Ji Zhe Yan’s face flush completely red, Dr. Zhang was as happy as a child who found a new plaything—as it turned out, he could also react so strongly!
It seemed that humanity was saved.
Ji Zhe Yan pulled his arm free and said to Ye Zhen Zhen evenly and indifferently, “I’ll wait for you outside. You and Aunt Zhang can take your time chatting.”
Zhang Shen: “…”
He seemed to have realized why Ye Zhen Zhen was laughing so heartily earlier.
Once the door to the therapy room was closed again, Ye Zhen Zhen looked at the man across from her, who had a slight smile on his lips, and felt a little guilty. Dr. Zhang wouldn’t really take revenge on her, right? Of course not.
She decided to believe in Dr. Zhang’s moral character!
When she laid down on the sofa, that familiar weary feeling gradually began to bubble up. Ye Zhen Zhen blinked and slowly fell asleep. Dr. Zhang sat to the side and observed her. During their first meeting, he knew that these two had sparks, but he hadn’t expected them to become so close so quickly.
Ji Zhe Yan was absolutely not an overtly emotional person, to where it could be said that he was slow
slow to react or anger. In the end, what could have caused him to accept this young lady so quickly?
He reflected on this with a worried frown for a long while before ultimately concluding on a vague verdict—could it be love?
……
Love really was the most important and most unfathomable power in the world.
When the time finally came, he let Ye Zhen Zhen wake up from her hypnosis. This hypnosis was unlike the several times before. She slept very serenely, to the point where…it was as if she simply came here to sleep.
Not only did Ye Zhen Zhen feel like this, Dr. Zhang also saw this att.i.tude. In the previous times, she came with a disturbed state of mind and was very easily susceptible to suggestions. This time, her mood was far more calm, as if she had found her pillar. It would be very hard to subject her to this degree of hypnosis again.
This, could it be that…this was also because of love?
He chatted with Ye Zhen Zhen for a bit before ending today’s treatment. Ye Zhen Zhen began to seriously reflect on whether to come next time.
While Ye Zhen Zhen complained to Ji Zhe Yan about Dr. Zhang’s ineffective service, she watched the elevator number gradually decrease.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Ye Zhen Zhen abruptly cried out upon feeling a sudden pain in the back of her neck.
“What’s wrong?” Ji Zhe Yan turned worriedly to look at her. Seeing her grab the back of her neck, he hurriedly parted her hair and inspected the area. “There’s nothing; what’s up with you?”
Ye Zhen Zhen subconsciously touched the area where the sudden jolt of pain came from and was slightly confused as to what happened. “Just now, if felt as if something bit me…”
Ji Zhe Yan furrowed his brows in thought before tugging her out of the elevator. “I know; it’s probably Dr. Zhang’s hypnosis.”
Ye Zhen Zhen repeated in surprise, “Hypnosis?”
“Mn.” Ji Zhe Yan nodded, a dark look on his face. “He probably took advantage of the treatment just now to stealthily sneak in a hypnotic command. Really…”
He had done such things back when he was studying for his degree. At that time, the school had even warned him. However, Ji Zhe Yan had not expected that Zhang Shen still did not know how to exercise restraint.
Ye Zhen Zhen felt that this was inconceivable, but what caught her interest was not the fact that she had been put under hypnosis;
under hypnosis; rather, Dr. Zhang’s heart was, in fact, actually smaller than her brain!
“It doesn’t matter. I’ll just help you take revenge.” Ji Zhe Yan caressed her head, pacifying the fright she just received.
Ye Zhen Zhen curiously inquired, “How will we get revenge?” When the moment came, she must go grab a small wooden stool to sit and watch!
Ji Zhe Yan smile. “He better pray that he doesn’t fall sick in this lifetime.”
Ye Zhen Zhen: “…”
Dr. Ji’s smile just now made her blood run colder than Dr. Zhang’s had earlier.
Ye Zhen Zhen summarized today’s event into a moral lesson experience: if you offend someone, it must not be a doctor; if the doctor happens to be a vile character… There is still time to run at the moment!
Time pa.s.sed in a flash, and it was June. The Ye Family case entered a deadlock after the ma.s.sive reversal. Ye Zhen Zhen interacted with Zuo Yi several times during this time, yet nothing new was discovered about her ident.i.ty. She heard that Zuo Yi was very busy, so she just calmly stayed at home and designed clothes, occasionally taking liberties with Dr. Ji at times to relieve her boredom.
Midway through the month, she unexpectedly received a call from Zhou Wen, telling her some good news—the clothes she had designed were selling very well, so she wanted to enter a long term collaboration together.
Ye Zhen Zhen hadn’t expected her designs to actually be made into clothes, with people even buying them. If she walked on the street and saw others wearing clothes that she had designed, how would she feel?
Zhou Wen had also been surprised at how well the clothes were selling. She had only used three of the five designs Ye Zhen Zhen had given her because she had planned to distribute the rest for the summer fas.h.i.+on season. She offhandedly added these three lines to the manufacturing line-up, but only made a hundred of each design, an average amount.
She didn’t expect for these three designs to run out in less than a week, selling out completely with customers constantly asking customer service about when the designs would be restocked.
She felt that she had previously underestimated Ye Zhen Zhen.
She had merely attempted a collaboration with Ye Zhen Zhen, but since the results were pretty good right from the start, she was willing to have a long term collaboration. After all, she truly liked Ye Zhen Zhen’s designs.
Ye Zhen Zhen delightedly told this delightedly told this information to Ji Zhe Yan and then looked up the address Zhou Wen sent her. She previously heard Zhou Wen mention that she was running an independent, original brand. Although she was only selling online at the moment, once her business developed and matured, she could open a physical retail store. If everything went smoothly, she might even be able to register for listing.
When she heard this at that time, she merely felt that Zhou Wen was someone who was very devoted to her work. Now that she joined the team, however, she felt that her blood was also rus.h.i.+ng with excitement.
“When I first opened my business, there was only three of us, and online stores have rather low prestige. It was very difficult starting out. Luckily, Old Mister Ye proposed many suggestions to me in regards to running and managing a business. I learned a lot from him. I can say that my business has only got to where it is today because of his a.s.sistance.” Zhou Wen gave Ye Zhen Zhen a cup of juice and sat down across from her.
Ye Zhen Zhen pensively nodded and said, “I see that he had been very good to you.”
“Yes, do you remember? I used to go to the Ye Mansion as a child to play with you. If you had a toy, he would also buy an identical one to give to me.”
Ye Zhen Zhen stared blankly at her. Zhou Wen saw her spellbound expression and realized she had spoken erroneously. “Ah, I’m sorry, I still consider you to be Ye Zhen Zhen.” For some unknown reason, whenever she was with the amnesiac girl, it was very easy to recall past memories of her and the real Ye Zhen Zhen.
However, this was not what had Ye Zhen Zhen lost in thought.
Although housekeeper Zhou had worked for the Ye Family for over twenty years, causing her to have a lot of Ye Hong Sheng’s trust, Ye Zhen Zhen kept feeling that he had perhaps been too good to Zhou Wen.
“We still need to discuss our collaboration. After the contract is signed, you’ll have a basic salary each month as well as sales commissions for each article of clothing. Naturally, the contract stipulates a minimum number of designs per month to be submitted. You can read it through first.” After she said this, Zhou Wen handed over the recently printed contract to Ye Zhen Zhen.
