Chapter 232 The Vermillion Bird

A ring of gold light flew from behind Ye Shaoyang and landed on the head of the Blood Gu Undead King. Ye Shaoyang looked carefully at the ring and saw that it was a string of Buddhist pearls.

"Oh great Buddha, show your mercy!" Teng Yongqing mumbled a chant as he walked up from behind Ye Shaoyang.

Immediately after the chant, the pearls let out a soft and awe-inspiring light. The light engulfed the Undead King. The king twisted its body in pain with an expression of great pain. However, the Undead King let out an explosive scream and released an incredible amount of Demon Qi that instantly broke the string of pearls. The light that had covered the Undead King immediately faded away.

Teng Yongqing was knocked back while he spat out a mouth of blood. However, he didn't want to give up. He stuffed his hand into his bag and pulled out a golden alms bowl. He chanted quickly and threw the alms bowl.

The gold alms bowl was a powerful Buddhist weapon. When the alms bowl detected Demon Qi it would activate. The bowl flew on to the head of the Undead King. Then, the '卐' symbol on the bowl gradually spun faster and faster releasing a pillar of light to surround and trap the Undead King.

Immediately, strands of black Qi was sucked out of the Undead King and absorbed by the alms bowl. The Undead King struggled a few times, but it did not work. Finally, the Undead King let out a roar and released a burst of demon Qi that shook the alms bowl.

Right as the bowl was about to be shaken off, countless strands of silver strings shot toward the Undead King and wrapped around its body.

It's the silk of the arctic silkworm!

Even though the silk was thin and seemed weak, it was actually very tough. Even so, as the silk tried to tie up the Undead King's hands, the Undead King broke it with ease.

Ye Shaoyang was slightly shocked by this, but he didn't stand and wait. He ran toward the Undead King and whipped out his spirit binding chain to wrap around the Undead King. Soon, with the help of the chain, the silk quickly wrapped around the Undead King and created a coc.o.o.n. The Undead King wiggled in it trying to break free; however, Ye Shaoyang quickly used a restraining talisman paper to still the body of the Undead King.

The chain and silk both tightened and cut into the flash of the Undead King. Green blood gradually leaked out from the silk coc.o.o.n.

The Undead King kept releasing Qi to fight back, but it still struggled when faced with a Daoist, a Buddhist, and a witch. Ye Shaoyang felt that the Undead King was slowly melting away; however, he also knew that three of them had already used up a lot of their cultivation. This was especially true for Teng Yongqing who did not have much power.

Half a minute later, Teng Yongqing's face became white, and his body shook. Even his hand seal was not stable anymore.

Ye Shaoyang saw his condition, so he gave some words of encouragement, "Hold on! Just one or two minutes more then this guy will die!"

Teng Yongqing was ready to collapse but held on after hearing what Ye Shaoyang said. Unfortunately after half a minute, Teng Yongqing used up all his energy. His eyes went blank, and he fell unconscious.

The golden alms bowl immediately fell and lost its light.

As soon as the pressure was relieved, the Undead King quickly let out a burst of Demon Qi and burst the silk coc.o.o.n. Then, the Undead King pulled the spirit binding chain off and threw it aside.

Even though both of its eyes were not working, it was still able to use its Qi to detect the general direction of the trio. Immediately, it got on all fours and rushed towards the exit.

Ye Shaoyang was shocked by this; he never thought a powerful Undead King would just want to run. Immediately Ye Shaoyang got up and gave chase. Ye Shaoyang could not afford to let it run away because it had thousands of years of cultivation and was an undead demon. If it went out to the outside world, it would almost be without rival.

Tan Xiaohui who was closest to the exit saw the Undead King running toward her. However, she did not stop it.

Ye Shaoyang yelled at her in the heat of the moment, "Why didn't you stop it?"

Tan Xiaohui shook her head and was about to explain, then she spat out a mouth full of blood. Her hands supported herself from the ground as she fell.

"You're hurt!" Ye Shaoyang rushed toward her. Tan Xiaohui shook her head and said in a trembling voice, "Don't care about me; go chase after the Undead King. You can't let it run away!"

Ye Shaoyang looked up and saw that the distance between him and the Undead King was growing. He knew it was impossible to get to it now, but there was still the Qixing Dragon Sword. He pulled it out and was ready to toss it out.

Ye Shaoyang was confident about hitting the Undead King, but to kill it in one shot was almost impossible. However, there was no time to waste. It was either do or die, so Ye Shaoyang sliced his finger and filled the sword with blood. Then, he stuck a talisman paper on it and prepared to chant.

Out of nowhere, a white light flew in. It came in at an incredible speed and gave chase to the Undead King. In an instant, the white light wrapped around the Undead King!

Ye Shaoyang was shocked, he looked closely and saw that it was actually a man. A man with a few red tattoos on his back held the Undead King.

It's the sacrificial young man! When did he wake up?

Fearing that the young man was doomed, Ye Shaoyang quickly hasted his pace.

The Undead King roared and tried to bite the shoulder of the young man. However, the young man was very agile. He dodged the bite and quickly trapped the Undead King's arms. Like a technique used in jiu jitsu, the young man locked the arms of the Undead King. The Undead King roared in anger. Its body glowed green as it tried to use its Demon Qi to shake off the young man.

Right then, something strange happened: the tattoos on the young man activated. They glowed in red and flew out from his skin. The tattoo formed a bird shape that was half the size of a grown man. It had elegantly arranged colorful feathers. It raised its head and let out a sharp call.

The Vermilion Bird!

Ye Shaoyang instantly realized that it was one of the four heavenly beasts! What was even more amazing was the fact that it was a tattoo on the young man.

Even a Heavenly Master like Ye Shaoyang was amazed by what he saw.

The Vermilion Bird circled around the head of the young man one time; then, it became a flash of light and shot into the young man. The Vermillion Bird had once again become a tattoo. However, Ye Shaoyang was able to see a red glow around the young man's body. Even though it was unbelievable, the young man was now carrying the power of the Vermillion Bird!

The young man let out a great scream and used both of his arms to hold the Undead King tightly. The young man blocked the Qi from the Undead King while at the same time rendering it immobile.

Then suddenly the young man turned and looked the Ye Shaoyang. His eyes were glowing red. He looked at Ye Shaoyang and let out a scream.
